I have an 1942 Angelus Chronodato with an orange dial, one of my favorite pieces! If you can find one at a good price, believe me, you will not be disappointed!
Up until now, I thought I was the only Watcher to appreciate the American brand of Wittnauer. Along with Rolex and Omega, Wittnauer, were the third watch maker to be considered for the Moon mission, that everyone knows, Omega got the gig. However, Wittnauer eventually went into space as Neil Armstrong wore a Wittnauer on the Gemini 8 mission. I managed to pick up a Charles Lindbergh replica 'Hour Angle' watch, made by Wittnauer, but sadly with a Japanese mechanical automatic movement. (but an excellent time keeper)
Salut, Armand ! Un autre excellent video encore ! Angelus c'est una marque vraiment remarquable, et pas suffisamment appréciée. Je suis tout près d'en acheter une, chrono, jour et date, magnifique, et à un prix près de 1200 Euros ;)
Armand, thanks for all you've done for us in the past and best wishes for a great 2018. Happy New Year to you and yours as well as to all your viewers.
Awesome vid man i love your perfect diction as well.its wonderful to discover vintage pieces like that last AP..imagine saving up just around 4000 and getting asked what youre wearing at a wedding, only to loftily reveal the full wrist with a smug ass look on your face, single eyebrow raised like a count
John Lopez-Ona Very nicely done. Excellent suggestions where to find value and excellence. And the criteria are well explained so we can hunt down our own. Would love a video with same criteria focused on divers.
Great and very educational review! Believe it or not, I never heard of neither Angelus nor Wittnauer before. Sounds and looks very interesting. "Classic charm and a very elusive history," as you said. Thanks.
You guys need to watch how many vintage watches have been restored improperly or with the wrong style of parts that fit but aren't true to the original design. It's so complicated I have to rethink wether I want one now or not.
(late comment) Intresting to note that until quite late Oris were limited by law to producing only pin pallet movements, as a result they have developed this basic movement into chronometer certified 17 jewel pin pallet calibre, the only one ever thus certified, before the innovation tech laws in Switzerland were repealed. Almost all vintage Oris have this "issue". Can't remember who told me this, I hope it wasn't you🤣 I foundone of those tiny APs for nowt on a mkt store recently, they're so ugly I'm afraid, I toldthe stall holder why it should be more than scrap value and moved on.
@@davidgrant2008 one from Austria I found on Chrono, Posh time in UK I bought many from but I have just bought 8 more vintage watches off Chrono but still not received so lets see what they are like, unfortunately some say private seller with no reviews and this makes me nervous
@@HoperehabcenterthailandAsia thanks, doesn't matter where in the world you live no one wants to get cheated. I've bought cars for a lot less than some watches cost. Good luck and God bless.
@@davidgrant2008 yes me too - agree, truth is I don't wear many of my vintage pieces and wear the Rolexes - but to start - still waiting for all these watches to arrive - probably a huge mistake although average cost is $500 I have always been a mad collector type, an addict LOL
Hi, i own several Vintages from well known Brands. And i love them all. For example today i wear my 1952 JLC Memovox. What a beautiful watch.

instead of the AP dress watch you can buy a vintage 18k. gold Omega Seamaster for about 1100.00 USD . Many are gorgeous watches .
Thank you for the very informative video. What is the model reference number for the second Audemars Piguet watch?

Rolex used Aigle movements from 1902 to well into the sixties. Aigle made them with ”Rolex” stamped on the back plate of the movement.
A most interesting video, please make more on vintage watches, thanks.

Great video, thanks! I just got my first budget swiss manual winder, Eska, at 35mm. My wife's bringing it back from London. So excited!
Another great monthly vintage vid. Also, nice shout out to Bark & Jack.
an enjoyable video with lots of interesting facts. I especially loved the Wittnauer with the salmon dial and the subtle red chapter ring. thank you

+Tom Roman: Thank you very much for such a kind comment, it is greatly appreciated. Happy New Year to you and your family too.
Great pronunciation ..great info ...and a decent spin on the scene. Thanks.
As of March 2019 Angelus watches have gone WAY up in price.

Thank you so much for the video. That Wittnauer triple calendar is beautiful.

Please be aware that some Oris and Rado sold on eBay are fake or frankenwatches. Specially be cautious with international sellers.
Congrats on this video. This could be a new high water mark in the genre of youtube watch videos. Exemplary commentary and choice of material!
That's my dream everyday watch, Rolex Explorer on distressed leather. Perfect.
I have found an Oris pointerdate with white dial unworn in the box but the guy asking around 300 USD. Is it worth the money?

I wonder if that AP is the same 33mm case size piece TGV just bought....
Is there a model number or specific designation to that Oris pointer date in the video?
Very nice! Thx for another brilliant and informative video
Vintage Junghans Max bills are probably the best value out of all the ones u mentioned.

Great video! Thank you
BRO PLEASE DO A 2020 VERSION OF THIS!!!
Armand where is the music from the intro from? great video btw!
Surprised that after a year, no one has answered your question.
The music is 'The Aquarium' from Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals.
In case you wondered where the tigers eye diastar went, I bought it :)
Is there a credible website where I can go to shop vintage watches for fair prices?
eBay! Lol
I would have added the VC overseas maybe however a great vid
Love that intro camille saint saens
What's with everyone talking about the old ladies' AP dress models lately?
