The fact there's an official RUclips channel for SOR2 now makes me incredibly more excited for the games release. Can't wait for a release date!
Game dev here. Thanks so much for this in-depth look into your processes! Your point about systems like this taking longer and being more complicated than folks think can't be stressed enough. I appreciate you sharing your dev knowledge and can't wait to play the game!
Please don’t feel any rush. Thank you for sharing stuff like this. I feel like the first game and eventually this one will be the type to inspire a lot of ppl to want to make their own so it’s really cool for you to share this.
I wish this game to become a huge success!
I just cant wait to play this game
Can't wait to play it!
9:25 rivers going through cities like in London or the city levels in SoR would allow for some fun stuff like bridges and situations where the player or perhaps mafia members can push people in. It also makes sense as irl cities are often built *around* a river.
Regardless, I can't wait to explore the world of SoR2! Good luck with the final sprint of development to the finish line and release!
SoR was one of the first games I played with my son, he loved running around and trying to unlock characters and the missions just going in the toilet lol.
We're looking forward to SoR2!
I like the idea of military base being a giant gumball machine.
A lot of cool new stuff to look at here, even from the last video a month prior. I can't wait to see what you show us next.
this was very open and cool of you! loved the first game and can’t wait for the sequel!
Im so glad this came up in my suggestions, I remember playing streets of rouge on a friends laptop but forgot the name of it.
Wish you all the luck in the world man 🙏
18:52 Maybe along with a potential reference to the first game?
Rivers connecting some of the lakes would also be nice to see if you're planning to add boats.
had this wishlisted for a minute, keep up the good work
Streets of Rogue has been one of my favorite games, I'm so excited for a sequel. I love open world games and I can't wait to see what you do with this. Much love Matt!
So pumped for sor2 and about finding this channel! I think trains joining the bigger cities together would be rly cool!
Can't wait!
Launch it in early access so i can give you my money already 😂
I agree!!!!!!
Let them finish it
No thanks.
Let him cook
It's great that there's an official YT channel for this game now! I loved the first one and I've been playing it since before the Steam days. Thank you for sharing your work with us. It's super cool to see the development of this game and I hope you make more devlogs. I'm looking forward to seeing more about the world generation for the dungeons and whatnot. I can't wait to play this game! With that said, definitely take as long as you need. This game is going to be so much fun!
Dude, you did not have to do all of this to create a commercially successful sequel to Streets of Rogue. But the fact that you are trying to push yourself to the limits shows that you have a great level of pride in your work, and really value trying to give your fans the best product your vision and skills can produce. That's hard enough when you've got a whole team at your disposal, but you're doing this all on your own. I know the release state will have its problems, like all games do, but have confidence in yourself that all will turn out well if you keep working at it. These videos showing your dev process have moved me from simply wishlisting your game to making it an immediate purchase once full release happens!
Never heard about this game, absolutely love this video. I hope you would dive deeper in the technical lvl of things in future videos. Good dev _b
Loved the first game, excited to try the 2nd.
This is super interesting, I love this! If you read this, I definitely think the game should lean into non-objective goals. I think you’ve managed to nail what makes roleplaying so fun in SoR 1, so I would love to just spend time roleplaying without worrying about the main goal so much!
I'm so excited, I don't really want to watch the Devlogs so I can go in and be surprised by everything... but it's so tempting!
Great video, looooove proc-gen content in games, thats a wishlist!
Man the effort you put into this is so awesome. Whether the game is great or not, just the passion alone is going to make this so unique. I’m assuming it’ll be amazing.
This game is gonna go bananas
These devlogs are amazing, really interesting to see how everything works!
Hey thanks for this insight! Looks really fun already.
One suggestion: the thing with the river looking weird flowing around the city might just be a problem of the generation order. I would try generating the rivers first and than add villages and cities. It would be also more in line with reality (cities historically naturally grow next to a water source, not the other way around). Probably enough for a more natural looking city placement.
Anyway keep it up :)
احب الجزء الأول وهذا الجزء يبدو رائع 🤍
تحياتي من السعودية
Counting the days for this game to come out. I no-lifed the shit out of the first one. Please, give us this game!!
Não vejo a hora dessa maravilha ser lançada.
Game of the year for sure
Have you considered wave function collapse for your city generation? You can generate the area - roads etc - place "mandatory" builds like the police station ( to ensure numbers are adhered to ) and then simply code the rules of the remaining cells. Would allow for elements like "I am a cell surrounded by other buildings - so likelihood I'm a park" etc.
fascinatorizing
for every day i have to wait for this masterpiece of a game, i will wait one day!
cant wait :)
Good job man! Game looks dope!
Petitioning for playable red barrel
Rly nice pixelated graphics. 👌
As someone who has done PCG for 15 years, it's incredibly fascinating, and frustrating. Validating that the procedurally generated content is actually navigable is really hard, and if you do it wrong you can generate levels that are impossible to finish. Plus it's one of the few computations that actually needs low level optimizations. I love it!
i truly believe this game is going to turn out fantastic, and the amount of effort you've put into the world generation (at least so far) is frankly impressive. i honestly think this game is going to come out incredible, if not better than the original Streets of Rogue
Streets of Rogue 2 and Stoneshard are the main games that fuel my life recently via devlogs and I am itchin to play the finished versions 😭😭😭
Awesome stuff! Would be interested in how you store changes to the environment.
This is amazin'..
i absolutely loved the first game and this one lines up with my interests even more, i believe this will be GOTY material
Im sim roguelike gta - respect the hustle.
Very interesting stuff! Will you only be using handcrafted chunks, or will you include some sort of procedural generation at that level, as well?
I loved SOR 1, heavily underrated. I personally believe SOR2 has the ability to go insanely big, though a secondary community line would help immensely. Segue into the next question, will there be a modding API or something similar? It could elevate this already stellar game to a certified classic.
I got a question, will the game have more interactive stuff? Like being able to seat on couches, turn on the tv or serve people at a cafeteria if you work there? Also, maybe this is just my opinion but since the world its gonna have more persistance it would be cool if each NPC on the world had a random name, just so you can identify people you've seen before
streets of rouge city builder spinoff confirmed
jokes aside, dungeon delving already looks like a lot of fun
Is going for Steam Deck verification anywhere on your to-do list as well? Or will you only think about that, once the game's finished?
How indepth are the AI? do they need food (or pretend to by going out to eat or something) or do they just kinda vibe like the first game?
instead of lakes being absolute obstacles, it would be cool if they have high cost and it would generate bridges over them instead
Bridges would add a lot I think
Can we get a playable oil barrel Easter egg to fulfill our wishes of rolling around the open world?
Haha can't promise that:)
@@StreetsofRogue2 im gonna warn you now, they WILL make it a reality if you don't. there's no stopping the barrels
can anyone with experience modding the first game tell me how difficult it might be to make a warhammer 40k conversion? like a proceedural hive city or whatever?
What about if you just generated rivers before towns and cities so it don't have to avoid certain squares
nice
😂😂😂
Даже не думал что у сор2 есть свой канал
This should launch on ps vita ❤❤❤❤
The title of the video is misspelled. It says "word" rather than "world".
Playable class: explosive barrel.
Please make it so.
On your final (brown) note.
Only include a digestive system if it adds to the game. Can I make an industrial ahem... farm... to turn it into Fud for money?
Can use this primordial pre-manufacture Fud as a throwing weapon that is nonsensically buffed if thrown as a gorilla. Make it funny not weird. Players will make the factory and make it weird...
On the less brown aspects of NPC digestion. Intake. How simulated do you want the price of Fud? Scurvy? Variety mood debuffs? Nutritional lineage degredation of stature?
Above all, I want a system that is fun. Followed by playable. Followed by funny. Followed by sensical. This is not the order for many other players. As a player and wannabe dev, the balance is within feature quantity and quality. Add a good feature to an otherwise perfect game reduces its player side fun.
I truly wish you the best figuring out what you want to put in. And educating us viewers on the way there.
One question,is this going to be realeased on Xbox. Please
At some point - most probably! Closer to the 1.0 version launch, tho
Oh my god thank you.
lemeeeeee playyyy
any early access date yet?
maybe a beta
We'll let you all know
I wonder how much it would cost to pay someone to make a map that generates like this.
Like a small island with 4 biomes and one town in the centre.
Open Word
I'm excited for this, but whenever I hear "procedurally generated world" I immediately think the world is going to be soulless.
Shopkeeper Streets of Rogue
Gaming?
are you making only american cities?
launch it right now
the barrel has to be an easter egg character I found way too funny the 9:52 part
GOTY easily, pls fix typo in title
...what typo?
@@Valtharr look again
Finally a good looking game after years of generic and political appeal games, this looks as smooth as Terraria. I'm not a fan of the Dwarf Fortress-ish style but this seems not to have the problems I dislike in DF so might be a good game, I'm keeping an eye on this one.
No wonder more people aren't doing this. I almost fell asleep twice.
are you being held at gunpoint by tinybuild to watch this
@@spooctus9293 Don"t arguing with him. he is probably a EA developer watching a vid on how to make a good game but obviously he fall asleep
If a town/city loses it food supply, NPCs should starve.
I wanna have a job buy house marry a wife and have kids in game🗿 , complete second life you can do whatever you want making the game very Replayable
Maybe street of rogue 3 🥴
I'm still mildly annoyed that the animals look like generic pixel art animals and don't fit with the humans (and gorilla)
Looking forward to that unlockable Barrel character...
This game is going to turn me into a heroin addict
