A lot of people? Nothing special no more than 100,000. But the place itself is magical and legendary. Because of this, the crowd always looks impressive.
Thanks for the clarification. I hadn't seen this Iron Maiden song, and kept listening for anything that sounded like Andrew Lloyd Weber. But, this is a hell of a performance!!
Nightwish fan, but I've got to hand it to Iron Maiden this time! They did an original song; this isn't a cover of your Broadway classic, and the guitar player *killed* it!
This song was released on Maiden's first album in 1980 with Paul DiAnno on vocals, and is one of their early originals. The Nightwish video is a cover version of an Andrew Lloyd Weber song from the Broadway musical. Completely different songs, both are excellent.
As happy as they seem to be playing this song.. you must also consider that this song was on their very first studio album.. they have been playing this song for over 40 years.. and they are STILL happy to be playing it. That should say something about this band in and of itself. Peace
Up the irons buddy. You need to react to the live performances of The Clansman and also sign of the cross. Amazing does not even get close. All the best from another Airbourne and ACDC veteran. Keep up the amazing work. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
If you have the chance to see Iron Maiden live, go!! It is the one and the BEST band in live show!! I'm from Argentina, and I go to see them EVERY time they came this way! I love this guys!
Dude I was at this very show 10 from the front. Nobody had a clue that spitfire was coming, it was flying so low we just couldn’t see it. The noise from the engines blew the crowds head off, the flight and cheering didn’t stop for like 10 minutes before they opened the show with Moonchild, holy fucking shit. Literally one of the best live shows I’ve ever been to no doubt. So nice to see you react so fondly to it, you should have been there man.
It's an amazing band. I've been listening to them since 1981-2 and you've just discovered them but the love is the same. I've seen them live 8 times and they are the best live band i have ever seen. I haven't seen Nightwish yet, though...I have a feeling they are even better. But Maiden live is an experience, audience from 12-70 years old and everybody sings along in every song. Amazing feeling of belonging, the metal family is huge, diverse and welcoming!
The Phantom of the Opera muscal, which Nightwish does the famous song, came out in 1986. Iron Maiden's Phantom of the Opera is based directly from the 1910 book and was released in 1980. Thus obviously, they invented their own song for the book.

Find me a song that Iron Maiden doesn't triolify. Because they do it better than anyone. But I wait to see which one of the songs in the immortal Phantom Of The Opera this is. (Speaking of opera, the performing of Phantom I saw at Helsinki Opera House is second to only one. The Hunchback of the Notre Dame at Tampereen Teatteri, a re-gorification of the Disney nice clean version back to the original Hugo story, is just immortal. I hope they publish the recording of it. People from 9 to 90+ were crying there.)
The first album from iron maiden called '' killers '' there ist the phantom opera with the first Singer from iron maiden. His Name was Paul di anno. Check it out.
Maiden is a trend setter - they set standards in metal for over 30 years. Nightwish is a great band that has taken symphonic metal to the next level. Each at the top of their game in their own genre and time frame.
Unique problem with the Iron Maiden is that they manage to outsell most festivals by themselves. Also, another good indicator that they love their job is that most of them are doing this for the last 40 years. xD
The chemistry between band members and the fun they have on stage is quite the same for IM and NW. They love what they do, they are good at it, and it really shows !!
I just had a lovely thought, Iron Maiden and Nightwish. Both bands making a song together. On stage together. 12 incredible musicians playing on stage together. 🤯

That being said, I hadn't heard this before and I f'n LOVED it! Bruce Dickinson has one of the best male voices in metal EVER!! I'm pretty sure Brittney Hayes is the love child of Dickinson and Dio.
