Would you ever opt for a hairstyle that lets your natural greys show? Share with us below!
I would like to think that I'd just let my greys grow through but you never know. A girl can always change her mind.
She looks amazing ❤️🤩🤩
Hi my name is tate can I get my hair colored with you
Refinery29 ooh yes I was thinking to get some grey but I need a good spot in NYC
Refinery29 I volunteer 👀
Sis has thick THICK hair like damn
I would be scared to have a short cut with such thick hair. But looks good on her.
Ikr my hair is soooo thin ☹️
Jack K it’s kinda embarrassing though being asked if your hair is a wig
Jack K Thick hair is A PAIN
No she doesn’t. I have THICK hair, her hair is really nothing compared to Indian or Hispanic hair
i love how much she’s feeling herself by the end! society needs to accept that aging is a natural process and that it doesn’t inherently make u uglier. if men are allowed to age gracefully, women should be able to as well.
+isabellopez 100% agree!
Amen!
Amen, girl.
And rather than 'uglier', I'd use 'invisible' a la Amy Schumer's "Last F*able Day" 😄
Isabel López agreed!!!!
All these people saying she aged herself weren't listening to the video I guess. Genetics aged her, she was just spending lots of money to hide the grays, now she's going to look like how her genetics say she should look at her age. Gray does not mean old. I am 30 and 90% of the hair framing my face is grayish white.
My friend is only 19 and he has a lot of grey hair and I don't understand why people can't accept the fact that it's because of genetics sometimes you can't do something about it. I also have a few grey hair at the front and I never owned them but now I have started to accept them and like them.
Tbh the cut she has, that bob ages her more than the grey. That talk to the manager mom bob has to go!
Agreed.
Same here I got grey hair super young and people find it extremely weird. I don’t even like going to the salon because i get automatically criticized. I just dye my hair at home.
I don't think it's the grey hair. It's her haircut !
Personally I find grey hair beautiful. Besides, grey and white hair have been a trend for a few years now.

Hanna Maria I live in France now and decided to no longer color my hair. It was getting quite long, so when I went back to the states, I had my beloved hairdresser of 15 years cut my hair to show off my grey and I love it! It really sets off my blue eyes.
The only ones that stopped women from owning that are women. They dye their grays by choice
Please bring her back when she's all grey! I would love to follow her journey! ☺️🧓
malindarayallen yes, I had the same request too!
Agreed!
I agree! I so need to do the same with my hair, which is pretty much 90% silver/ white and 10% my natural black. Although with my pale complexion I foresee me needing to colour my hair for the rest of my life.
@@caledoniabeautifuleden8584 I hope you can find a way to go grey that works for you. A lot of people say going grey changes the colors that work for then. I think silver hair makes pair skin pop, but all that matters is what truly makes you happy. Got luck on your journey!
@@malindarayallen thank you that’s such a kind thing to say!
The hair colorist seems like a very cool person.
janwarie he seems a little too cool
right that’s what i thought
Why is he giving me Justin beeb vibes...
In another video they were calling him awkward.
He seems so chill and someone I’d want to work on my color
"Why can't I be a silver fox too?" She's adorable!
A pity how people in the comments are like "oh no she looks older now". So what? She looks her age and that's perfectly fine. We have to stop fetishizing looking young and younger than you are. Men age, women age. It's okay and there is nothing bad or shameful about it.
her new hairstyle looks great
+mathisawesome Well said!
MathIsAwesome say it louder for the people in the back!
Yes!
Am I surprised that such an intelligent comment came from someone named ‘mathisawesome’? No no I am not!
Sarah Kelly I speak 3 languages including german, russian and english. I know my english is not perfect but it's not my first language. Good to know the grammar is what you focused on. I'm sorry for not putting enough effort into my spelling, in a youtube comment ... And thank you for making a random person feel uncomfortable to write another comment in english.
Thank you SO much for not jamming it all into one session and showing people these things take time
+cm Thank you for taking the time to watch!
@@refinery29 Yeah and thanks for putting it all in one video. :) I'd be really curious about the follow-up and would be disappointed if we didn't get to see it. You get a like just for this. ;)
Jack Martin does it in 12 hrs session 😂 charges $2,000 + , I’m a hair stylist and many clients ask to transition to greys. You just can’t . Either shave it up, wait 3 yrs to sport all that new hair, let it grow out gracefully. Go organic grey or pay a lot of money to very slowly bleach out removing that dye. You must be patience and pay for corrective color every 6 wks or so
"So how long do you think this is going to take?"
Colorist: ............Hours.
🤣
Lol I felt that
Ohhhh yaaaaa👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
"How long do you think that will take?"
Jake: *smirking* Hours 😆

I loooove how she embraces her silver hair, i was 17 when i started having grey hairs, now im 28 and i have even more, people are always telling me i should dye my hair, but no thanks i really love my grey hairs, i love how they look, they are part of me and they will always be, so this video really made me happy ❤️
I already have a few silver hairs and I'm fifteen😅 I think they're cool
Hi, it’s awesome that you are embrassing your beautiful grey hairs. But please make sure you visit doctors because having lots of grey hair at a young age is sometimes a symptom to a disease (vitiligo, hypothyroidism..). Just to be safe.
Rania Saadi hello, i always go to the doctor yearly because i actually have a genetic disease, but my grey hairs are something pretty common in my family, in both sides it’s normal to start having grey hairs at a young age (no disease conected to having them) in my family we expect to have complete grey hair at maybe 70 :) or partially complete grey hair. But thanks for the advice ☺️
Totally my story too! I am 29 and I haven't dyed my hair in years. This is me, it is who I am. I only want to hear your opinion if you are willing to pay the $60+ every 3 weeks for the upkeep of getting it dyed!
I'm 23 and I have some grey hair too. I love them though! I call them tinsel lol 😋
It annoys me a bit when the client said they have limited time to style in the morning, and the hairdresser curls the hair... I feel like they should try to help them style it closer to what the hair naturally does.
They could sleep in curlers
Keyholder they always ask us for a style after they ask to make it easier NOT OUR FAULT
@@spleens4200 with a baby she probably doesn't have time to put curlers in at night.
I curl their hair after teaching them which products to use at home and how to do a low-maintenance style, because I figure they don't know/don't have time to curl their hair and I want to pamper them.
@@spleens4200 , Who the hell wants to sleep in uncomfortable rollars?
First of all I LOVE the colourist. He’s SO chill!
Secondly, her hair is SO nice and thicc!
I love how she’s embracing what she has naturally in her hair. Her confidence is radiating off of her
such a graceful personality! she's so youthful by heart, and her baby is soo adorable
In 2017, I had to deal with being bald due to chemo. When my hair started growing back it came in pretty much “white” all over. For a while I tried to dye it but that Gray was just persistent. A couple of months ago, I decided to quit fighting it and I totally rock silver! I add in hair but, it has to be the beautiful silver and I absolutely love it against my skin and no longer have to feel bad about my roots. I’ll be 55 this year and grateful to be alive! Do you girl! 🙌 You’re beautifu💥 Be happy🥰
I’m 31 and started getting grays when I was 24. I’m not a silver fox yet but I’m guessing by 40 I will. Anyway, the color looks great on her. He did a great job. Glad to see I’m not the only one that’s ok with having streaks of grey ❤️
Mallow07 M I am 29 and I have had some grey hair grow here and there since I reached 27, and I was always freaking out. But, you know what! If they come, they come and I believe that society just needs to be less judgemental. Rock your gray hair, and when the times come be the silver fox you want to be and be confident asf!
Dalila Rodrigues exactly! 🙌🏽😘😘
I’m 44 and my grey hair is way more obvious now. It’s like I hit 40 and my hair decided to go grey and thin out even more than it was before! I have fine hair and never had a lot, it was never thick, but it’s worse now. It’s long, past my shoulder blades but I don’t know what to do with it anymore! I’ve had all sorts of cuts over the years...!
Sarah Kelly I see. Have you tried keratin products? My moms friend used to have “wire hair” but she started using keratin products and now it’s just as silky looking as a woman in her 20s. My new grey hair is not my Favorite and wouldn’t mind it if I was in my 40s but I’m just trying to stay positive about my youthful look fading away slowly
I started getting grey hair at the age of 18. I am 36, it has gotten worse since my younger years. Some grey hair feels like plastic. I wish I can embrace it and never color it again.
To those commenting on her haircut, remember that her main priority was for something that requires the bare minimum of maintenance. Perhaps the reason it's the "mom bob" is because it's popular among busy moms?
A short bob with bangs would take more time to style than her original hair style.
@@chileeeeee Can't you just brush it and go?
Like, not everyone "styles" their hair in the morning.
@@tsukikage not likely as the shorter hair is, the higher it bounces up and the easier it is to look like a dandelion 😂
@@cherylrose6022 Why would her hair bounce up? And why would it not fall back down? And even if it did, she can just straighten it out with her fingers.
It looks good but she needs to learn how to style it like the hairdresser did after they cut it. This bowl bob thing she does is what's aging her
kitten I agree. She looks good. Her cut’s just not doing her justice.
kitten yes it is. It’s like a mom in the 80s/90s
@@MissedBandwagon lmao exactly throw bangs in the mix and she could be Edna Mode too.
Shes a new mom. She doesn't have time for such things lol
@@montielovesyouu haha its rly just quick waves w a flat iron and scrunching w mousse.
I like that she’s embracing her grays mistress of hiding them ❤️ I’m 22 and and have a whole chunk in the center of my head that’s more gray than natural color and I’m letting it grow out so that one day it can be a cool gray stripe lol
You'll look like Claire Saffitz! :)
I love how some women let their gray hair 👩🏼🦳 out, it just looks so beautiful
+seriouspainsg Us too!
I love how you included two appointments!
Does it really matter if she looks “aged” or “old”? I mean yeah she clearly not a freshman in college but it’s fine that she looks her age. Women shouldn’t have to constantly be fighting genetics and science just to look younger for society. If she’s happy that’s all that matters.
She looks really confident in her new hair and that makes her even more beautiful !!! It's a pretty good change
If men can be silver foxes, then women can be silver vixens💁🏼♀️
*and yes, “vixen” is the name for a female fox
I think it's so cute how he thinned it out to look less heavy and it looked so bouncy and light and by the process no. 2 it was back to super thick, heavy bob. It looks adorable.
That's what I did, I just had some lighter highlights through my hair and grew my Grey out! I've got lots of complements actually. I feel it looks more natural, and no more smelly chemicals, yay!
Oddly enough, she actually looks younger after letting her hair go lighter & grayer. It gives me much hope. I'd LOVE to do the same thing.
I actually tried to strip out all my color and go totally silver...by myself. And that's when I found out it was NOT a DIY process. *Sigh*
I have gray hair since I was 10! 10! And it took me years to accept to my grays. I was constantly obssessed with dying my hair during my teens. I'm 25 now, and I have actually learned to embrace them. And I love the idea of this woman's hairstyle -- to embrace my grays more.
There's something so refreshing and beautiful about you with a contagious personality too.
Congratulations on owning who you are... We need more women like you.
I started going grey in my 20s, and from the age of 28 until I retired at 62, I dyed my hair. Once in retirement, I made up my mind to stop coloring, but I knew I couldn't live with the grow out. I found a salon that would take me from brown to grey in one day. It was a day long process of stripping the color out and putting grey color back in, but that's what I did. My hair is thick and strong and wasn't damaged at all (damage hardly mattered after 40 years of hair color!). At the end of the day, I left the salon with beautiful silver hair. I love it. So great not to color my hair anymore. My own grey hair has completely grown in and I'm very happy with the way it looks.
She actually DOES look like those jewish married women with their wigs. But its also the way she dresses.
I’m going through the “awkward-as-hell” grow out/ chop off right now to stop the mad cycle of coloring I’ve been on since my early 20’s. (I found my first gray hair at the whopping age of 15...it’s a family trait).
I’m turning 54 this year, and enough is enough ! Once the last of the fake color is cut out, I’m going to rock the hell out of my silvery-white, and grow it as long as I want !
I’m Weak For Deaky you go girl! I did the grow out too and it was tough, but worth it. Hang in there - you will be a silver sister in no time and you will LOVE it!! Stay strong!!
I love this, I stopped dying my hair a year ago. I would dye it like every month so my greys wouldn't show. I got tired of it! It messes with your mind! All of this society pressure to look youthful and perfect, it's unrealistic and so detrimental to the mind. I've learned to love my greys, they are a part of me and I love that! Thanks for making this video!
I really really like the contrast- it actually is more youthful on her. 🥰
I have nearly black hair and have been covering my grays since the age of nineteen. Last year, at age 32, I finally began the process of growing out my grays instead of keeping my expensive, solid-colored “helmet hair,” as I began to think of it when I looked in the mirror. With a pixie cut, the growing out process didn’t take long-and I decided it looked more interesting than my helmet hair! I then went a step further: I now dye my hair bright turquoise from a box! The effect is amazing: my dark hair stays the same color when I wash the dye off, while all of my gray hairs turn turquoise. I get compliments from people of all ages, asking me how I managed to get such an impressive combination of colors!
The hair color is really good but that her hairstyle is the one making her look older I guess. You go girl!
Yes I agree, if they soft waved it that would look fabulous. I’ve seen older ladies work their greys with some seriously stylish hair dos... and I’ve always hoped I’d be able to carry it off.
I’m 39 and have so much grey hair 👩🏾🦳 in the front that when I tie it back I look like stripe from the gremlins. I commend her for doing this, as I’m still dying my hair an auburn / brown.
It's the fringe that makes you look older in certain age,
When you get to a point like this in your life; the confidence, the self love. You can tell she is happy is her life. I envy that and can't wait for the day to get there!
Awww she has such a kind and cute personality❤️❤️
Jake has the most calming presence. He's like a color Buddha.
I may have found this funnier than it was meant to be. 🤣🤣🤣
Was thinking the same. So calm
Wow, I didn’t even know this was possible. She’s taking back control of her look. I love it!
OMG I need this so badly!! I’ve been going gray severely since I was 23...I’m about to turn 45....that’s over 2 Decades of trying to “hide” it. I am so done with that and ready to let my real self shine thru ☺️
She has such an adorable face, honestly her hair doesn’t even make that much of a difference on her overall youthfulness 🤷🏼♀️
I thought her hair looked pretty brown, but i totally get what she’s going for she looks great both ways!
+lexlou Thanks for leaving a positive comment!
I also get grey highlights with the blond ones and light brown lowlights. It creates a lovely look and I can go weeks before I need to colour again.
My crush Jack is back!
Must be my screen. I don't see any gray. The streaks look blondish.
I think they said in the beginning that it is tough to get her pre-dyed hair to a real gray but rather they would try to just get it as close as possible. It think it will work very well for the time it takes to grow out the old color. I have some very light blonde highlights and you can barely tell them apart from my grays :)
Watch till the end, they do it at the end
to dye hair silver/grey, you first need to get the hair to a level 10 bleach/almost white blonde, so it's not super practical :/
Sunny Sunshine ...and the ends were all red gold. WTF?
Mousy Leigh ...it looks red gold!!!
A few years ago I was in Greece. What I noticed and loved was how natural and beautiful the women were. No makeup, no hair colour, and that changed me forever. I decided to stop colouring my hair which I'd done since I was 22. I didn't strip it or cut it short, I got a toner which took out the blonde and was close to my natural colour which is actually quite white. I've never had more compliments in my life about my hair. I don't get called silver fox though and that's ok. I love the time I don't waste or the money.
I NEED TO SEE LEAH'S FINAL RESULTS ! WANT TO SEE WHAT HER SILVER GRAY ENDS UP LIKE ! HOPE its awesome 😀
"Im a new mom so id like something simple and easy"
"dont worry i know just the thing for you"
She looks gorgeous! And those hairstylists are hot!
She seems so nice, I feel likes she's one of those people that you instantly feel comfortable with
i'm 25 and starting to go grey. i thought it was learning AutoCAD that aged me but its just genetics unfortunately
First Last OMG this was so funny!!!unfortunately (or fortunately?) not everyone understands you
Hey 25 here too! And damn I'm going grey already. There's genetics at play yeah but they didn't go grey this early. Left a toxic job and when I finally could afford to take care of my body, I looked in the mirror and noticed how my hair started to go grey, drastically even. Coincidence? Idk! The correlation between stress and premature greying is still unproven though. More likely to be a health issue (besides genetics) than stress.
@@felixsimba5313 its unfortunate because genetics are out of my control while autocad can be deleted for all eternity
I started getting Grey hair at the age of 17, then I started taking vitamin b5 and they stopped appearing. I know it might be genetics but I do believe everyone should know that your diet also plays a role at this. Vitamin b5 prevents premature greys and makes you healthier so yeah. Def get your levels of b5 checked
Ahahahah
The fact that he didn't roll up his sleeves and just let it wet makes me a little 😬
For real💀
This might be a reach but I think he didnt want his wrists to be on camera...maybe self harm scars?
As an umbre grey/silver foxxy lady I endorse this feature. Been greying since my teens!!!
Me too
Tbh she should have had a sliver / grey toner through her highlighted parts which would make it stand out more and an ash colour through her I highlighted hair to get rid of that reddy brown colour 😐
But her hair is box dyed so it was impossible to get her light in one session. However, I agree he should ash out her base color or just kept it the way it was in the first place.
@@PeaceLoveChelita93 Her hair was not box-dyed. She said that box dyes don't work! Thus, her complaint about the great expense the upkeep of having her hair professionally colored had been.
Chandra NYC this is for sure of an upkeep honestly. She has couple of more sessions $$.
@@PeaceLoveChelita93 Yes, it seems like quite an exhaustive process.
I was thinking the same thing since thats what she asked for
Am I the only one over here just looking at jake not pulling up his sleeves when he washes her hair? 😳
I have curly fine, 30% gray hair. It doesn’t bother me that I’m going gray but I have received some negative comments about it. Someone I worked with said “ why do you want to look old?” Nice huh? I just try to ignore what others say that is negative. I hope more women embrace gray. It’s beautiful so why not?
+stephaniehansen We couldn't agree more!
More than the hair bob I’m concerned that the guy didn’t roll his sleeves when he wash the hair I’m like 😯😯😯
Right lol 😂
Same here
My hair skipped grey and went straight to white, now I’ve got some white streaks and I like it, I feel like I’ve earned it 🥰
Is it just me or she looks considerably more radiant now? Sis is rocking the look, yaass
She is such a beauty. Good for her for embracing the grey. Maybe a little edgier of a haircut would keep her look more fresh and youthful?
Leah looks good. I love gray hair. I started getting noticeable strands in my late 20s. I'm now 37 with several gray and white strands. 💛
Colour is amazing and I love that she grew it out .... GORGEOUS!
I found my first strand of gray hair when I was 18, and it was full length so it's been growing since I was 17. I definitely would love to do something like she is when I hit my mid to late 20s so I don't have to hide my gray hair. I love this! Let's get rid of the stigma of aging in women
She reminds me of Carey Mulligan
I think its her button nose.
Yesssss!
High key might get this done when I get older
+anushkashukla Same!
Never knew I needed this in my life. I'm still in my early 30's and I've been anxious about my graying hair. I feel like this video helped me to own my beauty. I'm ready to be a silver fox!! Yaaasssss!
As someone who started going white at 21, I freaking love this!
She looks gorgeous!
I love this, I totally believe in embracing grey hair. I don't have any of my own yet but I helped my mum dye hers for years and watching her struggle with it gave me a strong desire to someday embrace and love my grey hair.
Also want to say that the transformation in this video kind of reminds me of how they age people in movies 😆
That colorist is so cute 😍
Thank you for being honest about your journey. I've been steadily lightening my hair over the years in preparation for a similar transition.
As a 43 yr old who’s gray hair has come in with a vegenance, I’m not at the acceptance level yet but I’m happy for her lol. Her hair turned out nice.
"How long do you think that will take?"
"......... hours."
I feel you dude.
I have a gray stripe by my left temple (yes like Rogue) and people always ask if I dyed it that way. I never got why lol. I'm like noooo just grew in that way. The rest of my hair is black and I look fairly young so I guess it is a contrast. But gray highlights and coloring seems to be popular now.
I love my Rouge stripe too!
Me too, but on my right temple where my part is. Pretty much the grays are as long as my bangs/fringe layers and I'm going to have a giant thick long streak running through soon. (Also my regular hair is pretty resistant to dyes and the grays are worse!)
It worked for Susan Sontag! She always looked so intellectually bold and mysterious
I love that look, but I didn't know it could happen naturally either! 😅❤️ I thought one had to wait for enough greys, and section off the front natural color while dying the rest. 😁 Which is what I'll totally wish for when I go more grey. 🤤
Omg I love this !! That's so cool !! I've been obsessed with Rogue's hair since I was a little girl.
When I was about 58 I went and got the shortest pixy you can't even imagine. I've always had long hair but I got tired of dying it. I'm 65 now with white hair down to my waist and I love it! A doctor told me years to go with the grey. He said he loved his wife's grey hair. He had a good point, my husband loves mine.
She looks like the type of person whos genuinely kind-hearted and has a hard time being mean, We all need a friend like her.
Claire, is it you??
I’m 36 and box brunette. My greys are coming in literally silver. I CANT WAIT to get this done. Thank you so much for sharing this. XoXo 💋 #silverfoxx
She is so gorgeous before, during and after!! Loved her personality and the calm/chill vibe of this whole video.
Why is nobody talking about how healthy and thick her hair is?!
JAKE!!! I knew it was you from the preview glance. You’re amazing! So cute
I love the color, not crazy about the cut.
Loved this video! It is so refreshing to have a transformation that is all about having less maintenance in the long run. I admire her confidence and practical thinking. I also already have a good amount of gray in my blonde hair at almost 30 and I hope I can embrace it with as much grace as she did. Wonderful transformation :)
I also started graying early...I wasn’t even 30. I’ve been dying my hair for 15 years now. I have olive skin tone and very dark brown hair. I don’t have the guts to do what she did...yet. I think she looks great and has a sweet personality.
Yay Jake's back! We ♡ him
I was so shocked when I had my stylist give me a “ transition “ to my natural color! I actually cried in the chair.
She's so pretty. Every hairstyles she had before looks good on her
It has taken me about 3 years to grow my grey completely out! I started going grey at 13 so I've used box dye 19 years so I finally got so tired of roots after 2 weeks & just stopped dying 3 years ago. I have rocked a bun but now finally I'm all grey!!!
I love my greys! I started getting grey hair at 24
you and your baby have the best most heartwarming smile :)
The way to go grey gracefully is owning it, and she sdid. She doesn't look older in my opinion, her skin is beautiful :)
I'm 17, and I started greying at 14. This is inspiring for me.
Roll with it. It makes you stand out. I started graying at 18, and I love my grays.
wow, hair really can change the way you look. she does look older but there’s nothing wrong with that.

I told myself that once all my roots are gray, like when I get the skunk roots going on, I'm professionally going to have all my hair dyed the same gray and be done with hair dye. Your hair looks great.
people have been asking my mom if she was my grandma since i was 10 due to her hair colour alone. i wish she'd owned the grey hair earlier and been happy earlier. she has a lovely natural true grey with no yellow in it and gets compliments on it from younger people all the time. i really appreciate seeing this.
