I've had bits of gray hair since highschool, and increased so much when I entered my 40s...I know somehow that I need to let go of the illusion that I look better dyed, and I'm so tired having my hair colored every 3 weeks. I'm done with it and now I realize that I should let the grays shine and accept the real me at 44.

I stopped coloring my hair six months ago and have rarely felt so free. Yes, in the beginning, other people looked at my hairline a lot. No, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
I don't define myself by my hair color.
The people who mean something to me support me, the people who don't support me mean nothing to me.
It is worth escaping the pressure of a society in which you always have to be strong, efficient, good-looking and, if possible, not aging.
Like I said, I feel so much better.

WARNING IMPORTANT TIP: be careful with semi permanent dye. I am 3 years into natural gray journey & in my 50s. My natural hair color is darkest brown, that tends to look black in photos. My hair is almost tailbone length. I put in Colorista semi permanent dyes in: maroon, indigo blue & burgundy. Ruined my natural gray. It DOES NOT come out in several washes. I found Go Gray Revitalizing Treatment. Took 2 boxes, alternating 2 weekends. This system worked to remove what was left of the color. I am now "stuck" with new gray hair growth & a light red brown ish color. I chose to keep my length & gradually cut off the brown.🤷🏽‍♀️ So I'm actually starting again.

A couple years ago i decided to embrace my silver and it was the absolute right choice. I get many compliments. I think it makes one look younger. Dyed hair and an aging face dont work well together. My hairdresser said the two most important things for stunning silver hair is to use a purple shampoo and a hair product that adds as much shine as possible. She is so right.

I am 38 and I have lots of grey hair. I started dyeing my hair at 36 guy said my grey annoyed him. I dye it red so, my grey turned red. I liked the colour, the thing is that of course, I needed to dye it every 2 weeks because the roots were very noticeable. Now, I changed to brown but I did a mess, thinking that the other colour was semi-permanent, and the permanent will cover the red hair. Now, I am brown roots and dark red the rest of my hair. I am really considering leaving my grey, why do we dye our hair? men? society? because everyone hates grey?...

    Great video!
I am 9 months into going grey. It’s such a loooooong process. I agree that going grey is psychologically more than changing your hair color. It’s accepting with open arms where you are in life. It’s being your authentic you maybe for the first time. I’ve been bleaching my hair blonde since 7th grade. I’m now 52, and I didn’t even know my natural hair color is as dark as it is! I have grey temples, but I wish I had more. Love your grey money piece!
You look absolutely beautiful with the grey. I can’t wait until I’m done.

Wow, Jen, you're such an inspiration! I am 43 and extremely gray under my dark ! I have also been complimented on my long dark hair, and that it made me look like I was much younger than I am. I also have light blue-gray eyes, and they really pop with the dark hair. I worried that my look would no longer have a pop that made it all stand out. I also thought I would look so strange if I tried to grow it out-- especially without transition dying it. I'm about 8 weeks out from my last coloring, and you have inspired me to keep going!

I am 46 and one year gray. I am now letting it grow since I went cold turkey and cut it very short at first. I feel inspired by these gray sisters with beautiful long hair, despite everyone keeps telling me that I need to keep a short modern haircut to look “young”.
I decided to let grow and give it a try.
I have dark brown eyes and I used to be brunette. I am happy about this choice of freedom. Blessings to all of you. ❤️

I`ve tried for 2 years to not dye my hair, I was 34 at that that... after 2 years I gave up, even working from home, sometimes had to go in the office, felt like I was looking in the mirror and looked like I`m not taking care of myself. I started again dying it black as my eyebrows are natural jet black... My grays started when I was 30 and I have a good front patch that it turns grey after 2-3 weeks after dying it... Your story is amazing, I wish I had that courage at that time to say no and continue with my silver. I`m 38 now, going on 39, but that`s it for me, I have to stop hiding my bewitched look :) Thank you.

Well happy for you cause these chemicals in hairdye could at some point cause cancers :(
Especially the darker the color the more ppd as well. Wich poses a risk for strong allergic reactions no matter how many times someone used the hairdye they could all the sudden become allergic to it.

You look beautiful Jennifer, with and without the grey hair. But the grey does suit you so well. ❤️ I’m on my own grey hair journey too this year. In 2020 after the first lockdown in Ireland, I went from a brunette bob to light brown bob, then in 2021, I went to a golden blonde bob, then in 2022 to a platinum pixie, now I’m about 60%/ grey pixie, and I love it so much. I finally feel comfortable with myself now, after a lifetime of self criticism and constant comparisons to others, to embrace myself as myself, not who I want others to see me as. I finally feel at peace and I’m so relieved to finally be here now. It has been a long hard road to reach this point in my life, but I can finally breathe and accept myself and my beautiful grey hair. 🌸🥰

So disappointing! I tip my hat to you, your results are beautiful like Annika too, you have a beautiful pattern, I didn't the first time, I hope I do this time. Growing in natural color is not easy. A person has to really want their natural color to not cave in.
I just finished my transition from blond to the natural color....blondish pewter. It's a unique color. I noticed that my hair was looking orange on the bottom half. It was ugly. I thought that maybe my color was still growing out but then realized it is mineral buildup from the hard water where I live. Usually mineral buildup is yellowish, but if there is iron in the water it goes orange. I am working to get all that removed. It takes awhile to get it out. So, for my silver sisters out there, watch out for mineral buildup. It really sneaks up on you and
you don't know it's happening until it's very built up. Looking back, I wish I had done regular maintenance for mineral buildup on my hair and I will from now on.
