What I love about Volo and Cynthia is how similar yet different they are. Cynthia's encounter music is intimidating and terrifying while her battle music is energetic and makes you grin despite how difficult she is, Meanwhile Volo's encounter music makes you feel nice when seeing a friend while his battle music is the very definition of threatening. Their both two sides of the same coin
ABSOLUTELY agree with this! But I will say I had a more difficult time beating Volo than I did with Cynthia 😅 and also the feeling of ultimate betrayal from Volo was a huge shock factor so I'll just use that as an excuse for why it took me so many tries to beat him. I really thought he was my bestie. I thought he was sus but also didn't think much of it 😔 ~ S
One thing I noticed; 1:05 is kinda similar to the Alarms in a lot of other champion themes, most notably Kanto rivals, which makes sense because this is, in a way, the common ancestor of all the Rival battles.
Volo has dethroned Ghetsis, Cyrus and Lysandre as the best villains while he also dethroned Giovanni as the best twist villain. i want him to come back!
No, trust me. You have no idea the sheer pain, anger and fear that damn garchomp caused for all of us 😅. Volo was a cake walk compared to that demon spawn
As much as I might hold a grudge against Volo for what he did to me, this theme is unironically one of the best battle themes in the entire franchise lol
Yea, I get that it would have been a bit weird for the lore to have Ingo let you refight him, but it would have been fun enough to be worth it. Kamado just doesn't have the same challenge to him...
0:54 Jesus christ thats insane But also insanely hard, as a person who played for years (and still plays) piano I don't think its actually possible for only 1 person to do that, you would need at least least 2 persons or even more.
@@zLumiNeonz I dont think so, there are multiple octave spanning arpeggios on both sides with chords that span like 15 notes its just not humanly possible to play
The gradient on the notes is an accurate representation of the player's blood running cold as they realize exactly *what* and *who* they are dealing with! I love it!
I didnt realise volo was evil till i saw him standing on spear pillair and when the theme started playing i legit got a chill down my spine and my neck felt cold i legit had my childhood fear of Cynthia re ignited by this
I just love that it's a mixture between the approach theme and the main theme, it blends so very well together. The people who wrote the original composition for the game did it in such a wonderful fashion, and hearing someone transcribe it completely into a piano arrangement truly helps bring attention to all parts of the song. Wonderfully done.
Man, I just keep coming back to this. It's so good! When I first heard it in-game right after release, I actually teared up from it, and I still do when listening to your cover. Even though legends Arceus is very rough around the edges, it's my favorite Pokémon game I've played. The characters, lore, unique gameplay, and the amazing music made it an experience I won't forget!
The feeling of dread is crawling on your back the feeling of fear, anxiety and anger and you realize that you can't beat this traitor that tricked us use us make a deal with the devil try to play God and tried to take Arceus power
The only reason why I lost to him was not because my team was weak, it was because my mentality was weak. Damn, that betrayal hurts more than anything.
*me playing the game and hearing the first notes*: "uhm this theme sounds familiar, could he possibly be cynthia ancestor?" the mf sends out spiritomb, me: "aaaah sheeit, looks like it's a family tradition!

its interesting how in volo's case, his theme has a sort of "hopeful" vibe to it? theres still the menacing parts from cynthia, but its like a positive spin on cynthia's theme
Probably because Volo was normal before he went insane searching for Arceus. As someone on a different video of his theme said, this suits his philosophy pretty good: "If god won't answer me, then the devil will."
I lost my shit over this battle. The music was fantastic, being both approaching Cynthia AND the normal battle theme, but slightly off key. The betrayal, the mania he displayed, I loved it
1:15 I don't know how to describe this part. It's just like you've come so far, defeating all 5 nobles, saving the world, (and if you caught all Pokémon up to this point), and now you're at the final battle before you meet Arceus itself
Finally, a piano cover that actually uses the part I like about Volo’s theme - the longer dragged out and dramatic first 12 notes and doesn’t just use Cynthia’s approaching song-
Ok. Was I the only blind player who knew this guy was the Villian the moment I saw him. It was pretty reassured the moment he said "I need to keep an eye on my investment" I know he's a business man but that's pretty convincing that he still thinks of you as an object to his bigger plan.
Cynthia right before she's about to run your entire team's pockets: "Let me play you the song of my ancestors"
_Threateningly pulls out a flute_
*Garchomp pulls out a saxophone*
Milotic goes to piano
Spiritomb goes to guitar
Lucario goes for the synthesizer
It's almost poetic that Cynthia helps you battle Team Galactic in Pokemon DPPt, while Volo also battles a Galaxy Team Member in Arceus
Mmmknjkkk
M m loook. I’m m.
Inspired by Gorge Lucas
And in my case the galactic member lost both times
but your team galactic but good
0:54 I LOVE THIS PART
the harmony/overlapping of the parts sound soo good
I heard this part in a video and looked up volo's theme immediately, so awesome.
Yeah this is where it really deviates from Cynthia's theme, but it's probably the best part of the piece.

I honestly can't tell which one is more intimidating between Volo and Cynthia
I mean volo’s hair in that battle sells me that it’s volo
Well, Cynthia doesn't try to summon Poke-Satan and command it to kill you so I'd say Volo.
Volo is deffo the most terrifying of the two he tried to genuinly kill you-
I was more talking to the theme songs and less the characters but I agree with everyone saying volo
Yes
If Cynthia were an leader of an evil team you know we're all joining :D

In the name of our almighty Lord arceus you're right

I still like Volo, probably because I didn’t struggle at all in his fight, so I didn’t get traumatized
I know! I was so angry at his betrayal!!!
But this really is one of the best themes I have heard in a VERY long time
I wish I hadn't started watching videos on this game too early and spoiled this twist for myself. I missed out on that feeling of betrayal

Can we talk about how awesome it is to bring in a trainer theme from previous gens at 1:30
Which theme was that?
It’s actually part of Cynthia’s battle theme

This is theoretically possible for someone who actually has more experience than me, and that scares me
Volo's fight was where I learned to truly appreciate the power of Grit.

If you check out the sheet music it's definitely possible, just insanely hard. These videos can be a bit decieving.
It’s possible but you’re gonna need hella time
Check out Kazuo Seto's video, he somehow managed it by playing the main melody with 2 hands
I mean, the entire thing in the original song is that multiple different instruments were playing at that point as well
The part at 0:55 looks absolutely insane... I'd love to be able to play this but I'm just a beginner xD
It’s probably not humanly possible
Definitely my favorite part! It is playable although still challenging at full tempo
I have been playing piano for more than 10 years and can tell you from experience you need like 5 hands to play this, it is not possible
It’s technically playable solo, but you’d need to be a virtuoso. More realistic with two pianos / four hands.
@@zLumiNeonz I dont think so, there are multiple octave spanning arpeggios on both sides with chords that span like 15 notes its just not humanly possible to play
If you speed it up by 1.25x the tempo matches Cynthia's Theme 😯
