    I have been home bound after surgery and watching Bushcraft videos. Your place is the lap of luxery in comparison! Wow! Your mama sure raised you right...dusting and vacuuming.😊
    I was holding my breath until your truck started. Very enjoyable video.

    Ahhh...the Tent. *sigh* Joe, As a content creator myself, I know the effort it takes to set up shots, and I want to tell you how much I appreciate ones like when you left the tent and walked well out onto the lake before returning to get the camera. That takes planning, set-up, and a lot of extra snow-shoeing! AND it makes a really pretty shot. I agree with others who think you 'relax' harder than most folks work. ;-) Thanks for sharing your paradise with us.

    This looks like a good couple of days in the woods I would love to come out there but now I'm up in age and need to be close to a VA
    I had a nice place in the past where I would go and cook sap and in the last evening out in the woods we would cook up spare ribs
    and sour cabbage and throw in some spuds. A old lumberjack lived about a mile from us and he would eat with us and take the rest
    home for him and his cats. It is good to go to the woods and kick back with just oil lamps and a wood stove, it is good to think
    back to those times. Well good night and happy camping

    While you were off the air Joe.......I have been watching this guy up in Canada ....Shawn James ....he built a small cabin using just hand tools.His channel is called ....My Self Reliance .....Not as fancy as your dads place.....but hand tools like brace and bits....hand saws.....not sure if you have seen but many Canadians up that way enjoy that weather.Joe Robinet is another guy that camps out in the snows of Canada.He was even on the History Channel show ....ALONE....but he had to tap out because he lost his fire steel.He wasn't too happy about discussing why he had to tap out so soon.Good to see you back at the tent.Cant wait to watch your cabin build coming soon I hope.Anyway....a belated Happy New year....to you and yours.

      I am just reading a few of the first comments, I will not get to really responding until tomorrow after work but I wanted to make sure I responded to yours James right away so it does not get lost in the many comments that will come. I think this is one of the "top comments" I have ever received Lol. I love it. I do not think it will be happening this year but I am hoping that 2019 I may get started. I have the drawings and my ideas of the "feeling: I want the new cabin to have. I love the old trapper cabins and I also love the old farm type houses from the late 1800's. It has to stay fairly small so you can heat it and it not take a week to warm up but it has to be bigger than what the Tent is now. I already have the antique wood fired cook stove/oven in the workshop waiting to cook its first turkey at "The Cabin" (I am sure you have seen it in videos, if not email me at joe@homeandcabinconstruction.com and I will show it to you) Please stay tuned, it will happen. Thank you for a memorable comment I will not forget. Joe

    Joe, you have tapped into something remarkable, and I know you work your ass off to produce these videos. It has to be a riot to know that you could literally sit in the outhouse reading a Cabela’s catalog for half an hour and half a million people will end up watching it and wish we were there with you (well, not right there, but you know what I mean). But the polka, god, you’re killing me!

    Boy, joe, I bet you use a lot of wood for all the fires in temps that low both at night and during the day. Hopefully you have a great source for fire wood in the woods surrounding you with a lot of dead falling wood. Sure wouldn’t want to pay for the amount of wood you do burn both at the tent and the shop back home. Loving the video my friend! Looking forward to meeting you some day when you’re in Louisiana. Have you considered x-country skiing across the lake instead of snowshoeing? So cool that you have wolves there. I only have coyotes, foxes and stray dogs. I agree with C Hamilton, you do the same exact thing in every video, load the wood stove, cook on an open fire, check cameras, and clean the tent, but I must watch every minute of it. :o) The North Woods is a magical place.

    Thank you Joe! Much more entertaining than the Blazer/Warriors game that hubby is watching. It amazes me - we’re both at roughly the same latitude, but such a difference in weather.. thank you pacific ocean!

    Hi Joe,
    I watch your videos all the time and I feel so inspired. One question constantly bothers me though.. why is the bathroom so far away from your tent? Is there some reason for it not being built closer? With a connecting door even maybe? I'm simply asking out of curiosity... I mean what if there's a blizzard outside and you really need to go :P

    I enjoyed every minute of this video. Thanks Joe! A little fire starting tip: I take kindling and stand it on end in a small bucket with a lid, then pour some kerosene (or lighter fluid) in there. The wood will soak up the fuel and you'll only need to use one or two pieces to get your fire going. It might save you some money because a little bit goes a long way. Keep up the great work, I'm looking forward to your next video.

    Just an idea...why not clean the stove before you leave, set up a fire so that when you come back, all you need to do is light it and get it going.

      Probably because it's still burning when he leaves.

      And you can't spray lighter fluid all over the place in advance.

    • @huckleberrychris

      I would never leave with a fire still going. Also, I never use lighter fluid...I know how to start a quick fire without it...in the bbq grill, a stove and even outside.

    Try mounting a 5" computer fan at the top of your bedroom door. You'll be amazed how much warm air it will move. And it's cheap! $8-10 to buy and 1-2 cents a day to operate. Oh, and very quiet.

    • @SlipFitGarage
      @SlipFitGarage 6 лет назад +2

      BossmanEight
      Would that be better than the 20 inch box fan that he currently has above his bedroom door?

    • @treeclimbing7798
      @treeclimbing7798 6 лет назад +4

      BossmanEight I use those in my RV Camper.

    • @BossmanEight
      @BossmanEight 6 лет назад +3

      Obviously it won't be as fast to move the air as a 20" box fan but will be *WAY* more quiet. Once the air flow is established it doesn't really take all that much to keep it going.
      Oh, and then there's the whole energy savings issue . . . . .

    • @SlipFitGarage
      @SlipFitGarage 6 лет назад +3

      BossmanEight
      I gotcha... but I don't think the amount of energy consumed by a 20 inch box fan is an "issue" especially since he's only at the tent a few nights a year, and he's on grid power. Lol.

    • @BossmanEight
      @BossmanEight 6 лет назад +1

      Noise would be my big issue.
      As far as energy savings . . . . . that was said with tongue in cheek. Firmly in cheek! ;-)

    Joe, I saw that you were having false triggers on your camera on the 26th. What brand is your SD card? Those cameras are picky and you want to avoid cheap cards such as PNY and Kingston. They can cause lots of different issues. Primos cameras not so much. I work customer service for Bushnell so I know what I'm talking about. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with.

    Hey Joe! I have a suggestion to make life a bit easier. On packout day let the fire in the wood stove go out, clean it out and rebuild a fire, don't lite it just build it. So after that slogging through that lake snow you can come right in and your fire is built. lite it and it just makes life easier. I live in Michigan and whenever we left our up north cabin we used this trick. Well good luck! You probly already herd of this trick but just in case you haven't there you go. Great job on your video's I am definitely a fan of this Channel. From one Joe to another :)
