- The annual Winter Trip to The Tent. This years 2020 trip was no disappointment. Possibly the most snow of any winter trip. Lots of shoveling. We take a winter look at the Backwoods Cabin. Lake ice crossing on snowshoes. Campfire and BBQ cooking. If you did not click the link embedded in the video, this is a link to George and his Son's channel: / @living_north

I don't mind the repetition at all. It is simple, calm, reassuring. I really admire you Joe. It's your routines that bring satisfaction.
I don't care if you cook the same food its just enjoyable just to sit and watch.
Mr. Rogers for grownups. I find this therapeutic to my hectic life. Thank you.
Please don’t listen to people complaining about it being repetitive. It’s wonderful. You are just so in charge of your environment and I love that. You move that snow like a machine. It is so impressive. It is also peaceful. I love seeing you taking such great care of your place. I love how you are so connected to Melissa even all the way out there. That’s very romantic to me. Thank you for sharing your place and time with us. 💖
It's the repetition that we enjoy so don't worry about it!
Thanks Joe for spending time on this for our viewing pleasure. It is appreciated! ...Thumbs up if you agree!!
The routine and repetition in these videos is my favorite part, its very comforting to follow along with each trip
Its 3am and I woke up with bad anxiety. This is the first place I went. I love watching his winter trips. There's just something about him that calms me. Watching his routine slows my mind down and brings me comfort. ❤
Honestly Joe you do not need to explain to anyone why they fill like every video is the same format. If you don't like it, then don't watch. Joe is very entertaining and I enjoy every video because it feels like I am there.
I love this simple and peaceful life in the woods away from the annoying city noise .... you are a lucky man Joe
..... greetings to you from algeria 🇩🇿
When Joe was taking his walk on the lake all I could think was how nice it would be to just lay down on the lake and look up at the sky and hear nothing for a few minutes.
New to this channel so just saw your comment. What a lovely thought!
I hope you never change your videos. It’s honestly like experiencing the trip with you every step of the way. The real die hard fans like me love every minute of it!
They aren't repetitious to me Joe. I love watching your trips to the tent. Every trip has something different. I appreciate the trouble you go through to bring us these videos. I love to camp, hunt and fish but 3 heart attacks at 68 nyrs old are taking there toll on me.
People complain it's repetitious.........yes please. Faithful followers look forward to this all year. Living vicariously through Joe's repetition. :)
Amen!
Hell Yes!! I just wish I had his energy for REAL!!
100% Johnny!
I have said the same thing but in a comedic way
I love the repetition..the way you camp,it's a full time job..
People complain about repetition, well nobody is making them watch it. Keep on keeping on
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like they are in some weird matrix watching him edit something that I already watched? Thanks for these “repetitious” videos, us routine folk love them!
Thanks for all your hard work, Joe! These videos are such a pleasure to watch. All the work you put in is greatly appreciated. I love both channels but the Tent is really special!
ABSOLUTELY!!! Much Appreciated
I love you Video's love to watch you cook. Love watching what you do out doors. Keep on doing what you do. 🙂
Folks cabin is a true show place. Belongs in a magazine somewhere. Your Dad is a true artist and craftsman! I really enjoy seeing the results of the 3 generations. A legacy of men who truly love their children. Watching that video when Zachary had to head back to work was something else. Good men!
Joe you probably have no idea but for a lot of us, we need your routine because at least for me it calms my anxiety, if you were to change it I would literally be in a panic. In this crazy world we live in where change is constant and frightening to say the least it's always good to know that I can watch one of your videos and I immediately relax. It's just something about you and the simplicity of things like running the farm, the tent, the trips to the grocery store, feeding the animals or mowing the yard. You have the gift of a calming affect and that in itself is priceless. Don't ever let anyone tell you to stop doing what you love and being who you are, if they don't like the "repetition" then maybe they should watch someone else's videos. Keep doing what you do and your real fans will continue watching.
Thank you, I just film what I am doing and usually what I do has a pattern. Lol. I appreciate your thoughts.
Of all the videos posted on the site the winter trips remain my all time favorites. For some reason the 2017 trip is the one I watch over and over. The pristine setting, the snow, the wood stove, the quiet, and being alone in the wilderness are appealing at some deep level I can't explain.
I Love the Scenery...My heart aches in envy as you cross the lake, It is so beautiful.. peaceful. I can watch it over and over again. Digging that path to the out house, wow, the snow is deep..Every one needs some down time. Your parents cabin is Gorgeous..The wood work your dad does is breathless..I am not being crazy, but I wish you'd spend more time there... I sure the heck would! Thank you so much for sharing..
@ Sadie Mae
You took the words right out of my mouth. His Dad's cabin is exceptional! You're so spot on... it's very well done. The craftsmanship and detail from the ceiling to the floor- SPECTACULAR! The island with all of those curves is really cool. Huge respect to Joe, his DAD and family.
I never get tired of watching his vids as they're always so interesting.
Warmest Regards from Arizona.
I have watched this video 3 times now
Sadie17, My Dad had his homestead on Buck Lake, MN. There was a very short channel to Cass Lake, MN. He built it in1991. Joe reminds me so much of my Dad... He was Ted Roos, and he lived and breathed Muskies. He passed away in 2015. The gate is locked after Deer Season, so Joe has to snowshoe across the lake. The MN DNR unlocks the gate in the spring. Thanks, Joe, for letting us 'Travel' with you! Semper Fidelis
Joe, I'm only 30 minutes into this video, but I just wanted to tell you that I hope you never worry about changing a thing about what you do at the tent. I know I and many, many others enjoy accompanying you on your trips to the tent. I also saw the part of the video where your blooper clip came from and I got a chuckle from that. I'll finish watching now.
The outhouses are the most luxurious I have ever seen. That was a nice get-away for you.
@Sands, i agree! i have a remote cabin in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with an Outhouse, it's fine to do your business, butt Joe's & his folks outhouse's are right out of a Log Cabin magazine with wood stoves even? wow!
I've watched you cook the same meals 50 times and I'll gladly watch you cook them 50 more. Already looking forward to winter trip 2021! Keep up the good work bud!
Real fans don't care how the vids are, we just love u and the tent!
Bailey vlog's And more Right on, Bailey! I’m lovin’ this winter trip all the way. Thx Joe 👍👍
I’m with you Bailey!
Thank you Bailey.
and the snow
Right, one of the beauties of the channel is the consistency.
I love how the closed captioning interprets Joe closing the tent door as applause. Very appropriate.
Joe, repetition is why we watch you. Never change.
or the vacuuming 'music'
That’s crazy people complain about videos being repetitive. They aren’t true fans. The repetitive stuff is the stuff we watch for. The relaxing nature of just going to the getaway spot, getting settled in, cooking a good meal, being at peace. I truly love these videos and can’t wait to have my own place like you have one day. Appreciate your hard work with these videos and all the filming and editing.
By the way, this is probably the third time I have watched this one. It’s very cathartic.
My 90 year old Dad watched his first tent video ! He looked at me and said "I know why you watch joes videos , it reminds you of our camp in New Hampshire" ! This summer I think I'll succeed in getting my Dad to the camp! Thanks Joe!
Please do, it will mean the world to you both. It may be a lot of work but eventually it will be a memory never forgotten.
You know, I’ve watched your tent videos and Northern Seclusion for 3 years now. The videos might be repetitive, but I love watching every minute of them. There’s just something that draws me to watch. Keep up all the great work Joe. You’re the man!!
Joe is the hardest working man I know on RUclips his has LAND to attend to he don't have time for FANCY DINNERS.He VERY VERY busy !!!! I love camp fire cooking!!! Joe has other channels he cooks on What's for Dinner as the Rooster Crows 🐓
Your Dad is a real artist. I love what he has done with his cabin. I know I watched this video last year, but it was good to through it again before your 2021 winter trip.
WOW, Dad’s place is Fantastic I could live there year-round so beautiful so nicely decorated comfy and cozy as well as elegant .......... just beautiful
IKR.
i am always amazed by your father's cabin. every detail... just great.
Yes, that iron stove!
There's something calming and satisfying about a routine. Joe's tent rituals are about simple enjoyment of life. Kudos to you, Joe!!!
I wish i had a place like your to visit too. Except all that snow shoveling. OMG.
I firmly agree. I have a cabin on a mountain in WV and wouldn't trade it for the world!
Why don’t you bring a snowmobile?
⁵⁵⁵⁵⁶⁶__66⁶⁶⁶66⁶
I watch and rewatch these tent videos all the time. I agree it’s satisfying and tides me over until my husband and I get our cabin in VT completed!
That was beautiful. This years snow has been a blast. Lots of snowmobiling over here by Mille Lacs. Thanks Joe I love it when you take us to the tent.
Joe, your parent's camp is beautiful, however yours is so dang cozy and perfect. Love your video's. One of my new favorite channels to watch. Thank you for sharing.
I was just helping the kids with homework, but then this notification came through. First things first.
LOL 😆
Me too...I am skipping dinner until I watch this !
Pork steaks and potatoes
Im grilling thighs and watching while I wait.😂
the wife's water broke ---
guess I'll catch up with her at the hospital in 2hrs..
Ok on with the show
I wasn't expecting this until tomorrow night. What a great day!
i love this channel because he never advertises for anything and is not about making money.
The repetition is the best! Just keep doing what you’re doing Joe, it’s so relaxing and fun to watch!
how many of you all looked at your phone when the ding went off on Joe's phone? lol
I was in the pretending I don't hear it mode, lol. 😊
Nope.. never have sound on xD
For all the many many years I have followed j&z this is still my favourite bunch of vids.....again.thx a bunch for the effort you put into these vids.... much appreciation from down under...😎👍🇦🇺
The repetition and quiet getaway is what we are into this for. Thanks Joe for sharing your journey with us. Life is about living day by day, and journey by journey. We get to take a "free" vacation on each video. Even on the slow days of this trip Joe, You are getting a lot done by doing nothing. It is a great reminder that we all need to take a little time for rest and relaxation now and then.
Just texted my wife “watched Joe’s Winter Tent video this morning we’re having pork steaks, potatoes and corn tonight!” lol
Thats awesome.
Scott! Lol
What's the difference in a pork chop and pork steak? I only see pork chops when I go to the store in NC.
Todd Crenshaw pork steaks are bigger and have fat running through the meat vs a pork chop which usually only has fat on the outside, also pork steaks are cut from the “dark meat” and chops are cut from the “white meat”, I’m not sure where the cuts of meat are particularly cut from on the pig but that’s the visual difference in the two cuts of meat! Also NC does have them I used to live there, just ask the butcher at the grocery store for pork steaks and if they don’t have any cut up they can cut some from a pork butt roast
Cool!
Never fails when joe starts the microwave he puts his hands in his pockets.. :) love the videos joe keep it up...
He cut one of those clips just shy of putting his hands in his pockets, but they were on their way there! LOL
I am new to Joe's videos and when I saw a video entitled "The Tent" I just naturally assumed I would be seeing someone roughing it. Imagine my surprise to see him go to a place that has a space heater and an electric blanket on a regular bed (no sleeping bag on the ground) and instead of a camp fire he has what people in my neck of the woods call a "buck stove" and he also has a microwave. Roughing it never had it so good!
I love the videos the way they are. Never ever gets old
Joe,I have been watching your video's for many many years and yes is the same old same old but that is what I love about your videos.I look forward to The Tent, The farm house, Louisiana, and Farmall videos every week.Alex from Ontario Canada
Rainy/snowy saturday morning, wool socks and robe, big cup of coffee and a long tent video. Thats just about perfection.
Man every time I see that stove in your dads cabin it makes me want one exactly like it that thing is gorgeous
Cracks me up, you could tell your pen was moved a little.😆
thank you for posting your tent trips, my back would never allow me to do this, I am able to walk in the woods and am out there as much as time allows but snow shoes across a frozen lake in frigid temps is something I will enjoy watching from my lazy boy, keep the vids coming as every time you load the wood box I’m there with you...
I tried explaining this obsession we have with this channel. I tried explaining that at this stage of the game we would all be happy with watching either grass grow or paint dry if Joe presented it to us. I don’t know if she quite understood! I knew everyone here would!
Cold beer in hand.... and The 2020 Tent video running. What could be better ?
Joe pulling out beers from his socks, lol, doesn't get any better than that.
Hey Joe, loving The Tent - as always - the beauty of the tent is like a comfy old pair of shoes......you know what you have and what to expect.. never change - despite the menu unchanging - I always wish I was having some - I love the tent films, my you tube favourite . Love to all your family......best J 🙏👍
I know where the tent is
Creative Boi if you do know where the tent is out of respect to Joe you should and must always respect his privacy. Privacy in this mad world is all we have ........I’m fairly certain it would only take a few idiots to ruin the wonderful enjoyment Joes’ subscribers get from his content. Joes works hard, not least in producing the content ..... the quiet isolation he enjoys at the tent is a way of “pressing the reset button”.. No one needs to know the location, so keep it buttoned down....please 🙏👏
@@4wheelsonmywagon733 Bravo, 4wheels on My wagon! We would NEVER tell anybody where his 'Tent' is!! Semper Fidelis
@@tilted_moose2707 I think I know where it is also. But would never say. I'm sure he doesnt want any extra hunting pressure around the area. Although if you were traveling somewhere to hunt, NE Minnesota is tough hunting. Low deer numbers, harsh weather, thick woods, and now more wolves.
@@tilted_moose2707 o.k.a.y I'm proud of you
I love the coziness of things. So relaxing!
This girl, born and still living 57 years later in Miami really enjoys your winter videos. I don’t think I could ever walk across a frozen lake. Thanks for the adventure from my living room.
It is someone like you that I would love to have walk on the ice. I remember the first time (and only time so far lol) that Melissa did. maybe take you for a drive in the truck across one of the lakes.
As a kid I grew up right on a lake. We skated every day and it was fun getting to places that normally were only accessible by boat. When I was very young, I remember thinking for some reason the ice would sink. I guess I watched too many cartoons. LOL
man I hurt my guts laughing when you pulled the beers out of the socks
Good idea though right? lol
Great idea a guy needs Sox and a guy needs beer!!🤔👍🏻👍🏻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Haha, even in a couple feet of snow, tennis shoes only.
I’ve often wondered why he doesn’t wear boots.
They must be waterproof tennis shoes, ya think?
There were definately a pair of boots in front of the wood box in this video.
Those aren't tennis shoes. Hiking boots are warm and dry.
I feel like an excited dog waiting to get a ride in the truck when I hear "Heading to The Tent"
Your Dad's cabin is perfect in every way. If I ever could afford to build one like it I wouldn't change a thing
Joe adding wood to the stove in his long johns....priceless. 😆
Props to you guys, helping that dog. Looks like it's going to to have a good life ahead of him
Those cuts of meat were gorgeous really good marbling. I can't imagine too many people saying its repetitive. Ive been following this channel for 5 years now and never once did the thought cross my mind.
The folks that say its repetitious. Are not faithful followers. I enjoy watching the tent videos. They make me very hungry.... great job Joe. Can't wait until spring....
Every time I see that couch, I always hear: Sarah, it's 4:30. Time to get up😊
YES finally!! been waiting since last winter for another winter trip video
I love watching your visits to the tent and even though we have a LOT of snow here in Wisconsin I still love watching your "snow routine". Your place is very nice (and so neat & orderly) but your parent's cabin is absolutely beautiful.......even the out house. WOW
The only guy I know that snowshoes in 6 degree weather with tennis shoes on...🤣😂
Perfect thing to watch when it is snowing.
Yeah i agree, but it was 78 (80 yesterday) here 😩 Definitely Been a crazy Winter even for Bama, and now we're dealing with some flooding 😯
Joe, I’ve been following since 2012 or 2013. I love this trip! Thank you.
I think it's knowing what you are going to cook and your routines that are so comforting! Never change!
Only time i stopped watching was to go get 2 more cups of coffee. Enjoyed the heck out of it . great time thanks .
You can repeat yourself as many times as you wish Joe, the tent vlogs are always interesting, especially your cooking.
Been waiting all day for this. Haven't even watched it but am already giving a like because I have never disliked a video. Here we go, Thanks Joe
What a GORGEOUS view... the fireplace and the flames surrounded with this ingredible snow.. the glow that the flames make upon the snow I find sooo mesmerising...
Imo? The BEST thing about winter camping! I love that so much.. 😎
Thank you so much for sharing all of this Joe, this winter trip with that much snow in 2020 is one not lightly to forget!
I sitting here watching this again when the part about the snow shovel comes along. So here is your reminder to get a new one before deer hunting in a couple of months.
Always look forward to the winter trip to the tent every year. Thanks for sharing
Who cares if they don’t like the repetition turn the channel lol, keep up the good videos Joe and Thank You
I absolutely love that cabin, tent. Everything about it. 🌬️🏡🌨️
Doing a little binge watching again tonight 👍😀
My Friday night on the couch. Thanks Joe.
All the best to ya.👍
don't change anything Joe God bless and as always have a great day miss max in the videos
Every time my notifications go off. I'm like a kid with candy. Even my wife gets happy, because we watch Joe and his vids all the time. Just so relaxing. Joe keep them coming.
Thank you Erik.
I'm so glad to see you back at the tent. I've missed you being there and your videos. You are such a good and kind hearted man to go and check on everybody's deer stands and to check on your fathers cabin. Not many people would do that especially with that much snow on the ground. You think of others before you do yourself. You fix such delicious looking meals it makes my mouth water just looking at the food. I also watch and am a subscriber to Northern Seclusion and As The Rooster Crows. I love all the shows and videos. Stay safe my friend.
So tired of seeing your dad in all these videos, every time he was building this or building that , imagine all the non creative people out there wishing that , when they were born there wasnt a drop creative juice left in the bottle because your dad drank it all . SARCASM , amazing how talented he is , he should of had his own show , that house he built with you should make it to architecture digest , the apple didnt fall far from the tree with you either, watched from the start , through all ups and downs , your ups are winning , kids, grand kids , work . CONSISTENT, mentor like with your patience . Thanks for all the effort . please more dad stuff , even a chat .
Lots of snow to shovel!! Take your time: don’t want to hurt your back ✅ Tent looks nice and warm now.. should be a couple of good days👍
"Happy Valentine's Day" to you & Melissa, have a lovely romantic day/night 😉
Thanks for sharing some Awesome videos, love too you both. ❤❤
From a very hot, drought Auckland New Zealand. 😎
Many years ago now, the very first video ever I watched you were trekking across the lake over the ice to the tent Joe - seems so long ago now - I remember thinking, this is my sort of guy! atb snack.
It looked like you were moving along a pretty good clip along the lake.
Well done.
Thank you for bringing us along. 👍👏🇺🇸
Thanks Joe for the tent video!, I've been looking forward to this for the last 3 years since I found your channel!
Omg I wish I had a place like this to go to get away from civilization . I’m taking an emergency vacation to get away from the”public”. Love the tent videos!
Yes, me to, but strangely to my surprise, in abbreviation, where does he generate electricity from out in the bush out in the middle of no where? I think he did say he was not gonna see any civilization for a while, mm, interesting.
i saw this for the first time and i am in awe of this guy, his planning, detailing and his preparedness around building of this amazing home away from home. brilliant.
Yes been waiting for a tent video since the last video of deer hunting
Thank you so much for this Joe! We are on lockdown over here in China because of the Coronavirus and to see this video pop up in my notifications just made my day! Thanks buddy! I’d die for a pork steak right now. 😂
Hey Joe, you couldn't ask for something more relaxing and beautiful than coming out to the fire pit as it's lightly snowing and cooking dinner in the dead of winter. Great video, enjoying your other two also!!
You guys are like an extended family. I enjoy watching you.
Awesome! Downloading now to watch tomorrow morning! Thanks for posting, Joe! Something to look forward to!
This is the perfect thing to watch on a snowy day here in Michigan!
“...Oh, there’s my onion...”
(These are my favorite lines. 💁🏻♀️😂💕)
The craftsmanship at the backwoods cabin is amazing
