Interestingly Torshavn was my least favorite part of the trip. Driving through the tunnels, which in many cases had only a single lane and"turn offs", could be harrowing. I rented a car and went to all of the islands you could drive to. Actually, I found a small shop in Klaksvik that made me a vegetarian lunch which I took back with me to Gjogv. When I would go to small villages like Gasadalur I wondered how people got by. Would they make a trip into Torshavn to "stock up"? What about medical care-are there doctors in the villages? Do the people essentially live off lamb, what and salmon throughout the year? I certainly don't mean this in a nasty way. The Faroe Islands were the most enchanting and special place I have ever been to. I am afraid that now that tourism is "finding the Islands" that they may suffer. I met some wonderful people there. But it is certainly a meat based culture. Where in the Faroe Islands are you from? I think my favorite place was Gasadalur. It was just a magical place and absolutely beautiful.
