Fantastic content as always, Mads. I relied on this quite a bit for my trip the last two weeks in June. I'd be curious to know if you've been back recently, and what your thoughts are on all the recent land use changes. I have mixed feelings. Having Drangarnir gate kept behind a ridiculously priced "guided" hike at 11am in June felt really bad.
Outstanding videos of the Faroes. I visited first time in 1992 and was blown away. In 2016 I was back and was even more blown away. Thank you for making me want to go back again. Great work!
These videos are amazing. Not just a practical guide to explore the Faroe Islands (even if photography is not in your main reason to travel there) but also a great source of inspiration and great tips how to best capture the islands' beauty on photography. I just come back from a one week photo and hiking trip to Faroe Islands and these videos from @MadsPeterIversen really made my trip easier and more productive. Not least, when waiting for the flight back home at the tiny Faroese airport, we just happened to meet Mads himself, who was also going back home from one more trip to the islands, and he was kind enough to spend some minutes talking to us. A great way to finish our photo tour to this amazing place. Thank you Mads.
Absolutely magnificent. Thank you so much.
Bro, I can't understand why you have such a small number of subscribers.. Your videos are awesome! I discovered the channel like 10 days ago and I have watched all your videos already. I think you have to promote it better because the good content is here! Cheers and keep it up!
Thanks a lot! :)
I'm literally doing everything I can when it comes to RUclips optimization, but that only brings one so far. I would love to promote myself more, but I want relevant subscribers who're interested in what I do and those are mostly found in different groups on FB and reddit, but it's a complete no-go to post videos in those (which I completely understand, there're so many bad videos out there).
I see what you mean. I liked the fact that you upload the link of each video on 500px (I think I've found you from there) .It seems like you are a really creative person so I am pretty sure that you'll manage to find an idea for a good promotion ;)
risk52 I think it just takes time. RUclips is so vast, but there's very little landscape and aerial photography content at this quality level. I'm confident that in time, with persistence, Mads' channel will gain in popularity and his work will be richly rewarded. For now, it's really fun to be one of the early fans of this channel - there's still a small enough number of comments that you can actually interact with Mads, who actually takes the time to respond, which is pretty special. Once there's thousands of comments per video, forget about it! ;)
I said the same thing a week ago ha ha. great series
Just go ahead like you are doing now Mads. Go for the same quality, don't focus on quantity m8. Your videos are awesome ! Top job, again !
Thank you for this series on the Faroe Islands. I really enjoyed it and watched it before my trip to the Faroes a few weeks ago. It was really helpful.
Amazing Faroe Island!
Thanks Gil :)
I really like ...thanks for sharing
We've discovered you this evening while surfing on the TV, using some favorite key words. The Faroes is certainly among those, as w've spent two magical vacations there. Your work amplifies both the landscape and the feelings of awe and contentment we've had there. Thank you! We'll follow along with you.
Welcome aboard Mary! And thank you very much :)
Just watched this again. I'll be watching a few times before we go in april.
Are you sponsored? Your videos and travel indicate a degree of professionalism (not to mention expense) not seen in other photographic videos. Top notch, I don't know how you do it.
Thanks a lot Steve. No these videos themselves are not sponsored, but I did take some pictures for a couple of companies in the Faroes while I was there to minimize the expenses :)
Amazing photography ..... unbelievable sheer cliffs. Thank you.
Best landscape photography and travel tips videos ever. Kept it up! Nice calming background music. Excellent tips. Brilliant scenes. Excellent comments! Everything is on point!
Thanks so very much! Means a lot!
This video just appeared in my recommended. Oh my goodness, AM i glad I clicked on this... totally mesmerising. That is one stunning landscape and your photos are pure class. Brilliant commentary as well, great work Mads. You have a new subscriber. And the best bit.... I'm grabbing a coffee and sitting down to head through the rest of your vids.
Thank you so much! So happy to hear how people find my channel and so happy to hear you like it! I hope you'll enjoy the rest! :)
Magnificent introduction to the Faroe Islands. Excellent work, Mads.
You are most welcome, Seth :)
O.M.G. Best video of guide to Faroe Islands EVER!! After 30s watching you got my subscribe. Can't wait to see all episodes!!!
Thank you so very much Frank! :) Remember to check out the other series too ;)
Mads you have one of the best photography vlogs on youtube. You provide some fantastic content and stunning photographs so please keep doing what you are doing. You are an inspiration to a lot of us......Two thumbs up.
I am very happy to hear that, so thanks a lot! The feedback on this video has been incredible! Motivates me to do more ;)
Another brilliant video Mads, really loving watching them, keep them coming Ian
I am impressed. What a wonderful landscape. Well done. 👍👏👍
Thank you Wilfried! :)
This is a really nice video with nice colours. However I would suggest to strongly consider boycotting the Faroe Islands due to their role of killing whales in large amounts. Since I am strongly against violence toward animals I will not visit the Faroe Islands until they stop the killings.
Outstanding videos. My wife and I visited the Faroes 2 years ago and saw many of the places you photographed. Your videos brought back wonderful memories. We also enjoyed your commentary, even though we’re just iPhone point-and-shoot picture takers.
Just came back from a visit to the Faroe Islands - a visit that I have you to thank for. I have two things to say; WOW - and THANK YOU. This was the most epic trip I have ever had and I already want to go back. I get mixed feelings as I think about the Islands. On one hand I just want to scream out what a wonderful place this is - on the other hand I just want to keep quiet and tell no one. The feeling of a unexploated country is so great - and I just want it to remain like that. At the same time i want to go back and I am just another tourist like all others. Thank you for your great videos. Keep it coming...:)
Hello
To visit Dranganir do you recommend doing the hike or getting there by boat?
I’m planning to visit Vagar in September and I don’t have a clue what is best.
Thank you
Carlos.
Loving it. Thanks.
So thoughtful when you even show us the directions.
Thanks a lot, much appreciated :)
Visited Faroes three years ago and would love to go back. Very impressive images.
Wonderful again. Keep it up! Love to watch your videos! And your photos of course 😉
Thank you Ard - I definitely will ;)
You do an amazing job with these videos. You are so fortunate to have so many wondrous locations to photograph in your immediate area.
Thank you Mads - this video is incredibly inspirational. Warm regards, Gavin
This place is crazy. Thanks for the hard and to share this. My 64 old body thanks you as I could not have done this hike.
Another terrific video Mads, the production values are superb and the delivery is faultless. Please keep doing more of this.
Thanks a lot Steve! Very happy to hear that. I'll keep doing it ;)
Hey Mads, i have just seen your videos about the Faroe Island and i have to say, it is absolutely stunning to see the landscape. Thank you for your videos, they inspire me. I´m looking forward to visit the islands by myself.
I'm happy you liked the series! They can be travelled alone, but I'd recommend to go with a friend for safety ;)
So i will. Thank you very much for answer my comment and your recommendation!
By far the best content for travel photography, hands down. Mads your work is absolutely astounding. Can't wait to see more.
Thanks a lot, Erik. There is plenty other videos to watch 🙏
THIS MUST BE THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN NORTHERN EUROPE . THIS IS AMAZING . I WILL BE VISITING
Ok, so much I could say- but I have to comment on how wonderful it was to see the dog at the end of the video- I was in the Faroe Islands in May of 2017 and that playful dog was such a joy! Bringing me rocks to throw for him to fetch! I regret not getting to know more of the people of the islands, but certainly love that dog!
Haha, yeah I honestly found it a bit annoying as it was about to knock over my tripod several times :P
Woooooooooooow!! Absolutely stunning.. Your works are just awesome, just fell in love with it. Hope will be able to do stuff like u someday. Can u tell best time to travel to this place for photography. I own a Dji Mavic air is that okay in here, concerned about the extreme weather here specially high velocity wind here.
You have to keep an eye on the weather yourself. Just use any weather app to check the wind, the weather changes a lot in the Faroes. There's not really a best time to go. It depends on what you want. Check out my 5 tips on epic drone photography for some tips on using your drone and what apps to use :)
I love lots of atmosphere in the shot, with a hint of show on the peaks. U travelled in March that was perfect condition any pros or cons of travelling at that time. I belong to tropics, is that too cold that time and as i am coming that far including iceland along with Faroe does it make sense.
Amazing! Can't wait to see the next episode!
Thanks and cool, looking forward to releasing it :)
What can one say, brother, just absolutely breathtaking. This is what landscape photography is all about.
Thank you so much for all of your videos Mads!! they are so great, helpful and very inspiring. I am super excited because I will visit the Faroe Islands in just two weeks:) I will be there only Friday - Monday on my own to just go do a lot of photography. I feel pretty well prepared because I have watched all your guides and selected which places I want to see. There are so many it was hard to pick :) Also, thank you so much for creating the map. I purchased that as well and has been extremely helpful in planning my trip. I do have just one simple question for you. Where did you buy your food or meals? and what did you eat while you were there? since I don't have much time, I rather spend most of it photographing and going to all the different locations instead of stopping and eating at restaurants. Any tips for that? I will be staying in the town of Bøur, so that is where I will be doing my driving from every morning (super early mornings:)
Just go to the grocery store :) Bonus is an option. Be aware they're closed on Sundays. The gas stations are open on Sundays though.
Incredible ..... Simply Incredible ...
Amazing. Can't wait to see the rest of the episodes!
Thanks Jake! Next will be out on the 30th :)
I was in gasadalur two days ago and that dog was still there
Awesome video!!!! Keep on the amazing work! I'm definitely subscribed:)
Thanks and welcome on board ;)
I originally found you through your Iceland photos on 500px and I agree with 'risk52' - why do you have significant less followers than others, with rather boring vlogs. I guess, this Faroe vlog is going to be my favourite one. I admire your simplicity, minimalistic and focused approach > 1947 Mies van Der Rohe said "less is more" I also agree that with your statement a few volgs ago - that this comes with the Danish Design and Architecture.
Well done and keep up the great work, may be I am able to join one of your workshops in the future.
Thank you very much for the kind words, Sebastian. I guess my videos aren't that searchable and shareable by the big blogs, so people doesn't find me ;)
Thanks Mads. And for all your help. The Dragon place is a must for us. Can’t wait to April I think this location is a complete day out. I’ll be sure to watch the rest again to take notes for our trip next year
Absolutely awesome pictures, you clearly have a great photographic eye and also a good head for heights. I've just come across your channel, so I've subscribed and now look forward to a few hours looking through the rest of your work. Thanks for posting them and keep them coming.
Welcome aboard Dave! And thanks a lot! :)
Surprised this has so few views. Extremely informative and great pictures. Made me look up plane tickets to the Faeroe islands :)
Ladislav Indra hehe fantastic! remember to buy also and get an amazing experience! well the video is about 10 days old and I have around 2400 subs, so it's actually doing really well! :)
Excellent travel video! looking forward to watching the rest and future episodes.
Thanks a lot Helena! :)
Have to agree with risk52, your vids are well put together and the info you give out is awesome. Have just subscribed, by the way some good shots.
Thanks very much Paul. I'm happy you like the videos :) and welcome aboard ;)
Beautiful video! I'm heading to the Faroes in 2 days for an 11 day photography trip... When will the other Episodes be online? :P
Sounds amazing! 11 days should cover most :) Next episode will be out on the 30th of May :)
i photographed alot of the most iconic places of the faroe islands, but sadly many of the pictures didn't come out as i wanted, because i was new to photography at that moment. and i agree the weather is really confusing, i waited at gasadalur for a bit of time where it was raining and cloudy, and when we decided to leave the sun peaked through, i got to take this picture of gasadalur, which i'm relatively happy with, but not something i'm super happy about either
500px.com/photo/196771847/clouds-at-gasadalur-by-marius-christensen?ctx_page=1&from=user&user_id=19089467
That is not too shabby at all Marius! It really shows the size and roughness of the location. The wind blowing the waterfall is super cool! :)
New subscriber, new fan. Heading to the Faroe Islands for a week in June. Quality and style are enriching.
Thank you very much, John! Be sure to check out my other series :)
Looking forward to the other islands. I did Iceland last year, and planning Faroes now for 2018 or 2019
You have something to look forward to ;)
Thank you Mads, You've got such wonderful content on your channel. Keep it up.
Thanks a lot Karim! I'm happy you like it.
Just found you. Very beautiful and inspiring video and photos!
Thanks a lot! And welcome aboard :)
Hello there! Aamzing shots!! The video is super helpful. Thanks a lot. What time in terms of light is it best to visit Múlafossur? Was it sunset time so you also got afterwards the night shot with the lights from the village?
Amazing series of videos and some incredible shots!! Thanks for all the practical information on how to get to these amazing spots. I'm going to the Faroes next week and your videos have got me really excited!!
What a beautiful place! What an amazing video! I am on my way to Iceland - leaving in 2 weeks. Watched all the videos of yours on landscape photography in Iceland. And this one on the Faroe Islands on top of it. Thanks a lot!
Amazing photography and video Mads! I want to go to the Faroe Islands now- what time of year did you go?
You should definitely go! :) I went in the beginning of March
Your video is really really helpful. I am going to here in May. Thank you!!
You are very welcome!
Amazing video, congrats, this is a very inspiring video with such wonderful pics, way to go :D, just subscribed!
Thank you Marco! Happy you like it all :)
Excellent videos. I very badly want to visit the Faroe Islands now!
Hehe thanks, then it's just about going! :D
One word ! AMAZING
Two words: Thank you! ;)
Very nice shots. First time viewer, will watch more of your videos later.
Awesome thank you! :)
I have no words! Amazing place and Video!
Thanks!!
Delta Drones thanks! Yeah the Faroes are amazing!
hetta er ein danskari tit man hoyrur tað á røddini hjá honum!
Simply amazing, I only heard of you because of Thomas Heaton's latest video. A definite subscription.
Hi Mark! That's cool, was my video in the suggested videos? :)
Mads Peter Iversen I saw someone's comment saying you and Thomas were the best two landscape photographers on RUclips. I don't think I'll be arguing with him, you are incredibly talented.
Great videos, very good safety tips of hiking in steep terrain
Thanks a lot Drew :)
Stunning video work and stills ! I knew the faroe islands were beautiful but i had no idea how beautiful !! You should be commissioned for these videos Mads (if you're not already!) you've certainly made this a must see for me !! Thanks
Thank you so much Joe. I'm not commissioned to make these, but I did do some work up there for a couple of clients to pay the biggest expenses of the trip. Hopefully in the future it's something I can be payed for :)
I'm actually kinda divided on the being "commissioned". If you get a terrible client it can completely ruin the entire experience. I've learned over time what I can do/can't do and what to offer so that everybody will win :)
I never thought of it that way. Great to have that experience to get a really good feel for what works and is enjoyable. I think it does reflect in the work you do. The more passion you have the more that shines through as in your videos. Nicely done though ! Can't wait for the rest of the series !!
Yeah it comes with experience also. I knew that I would be a bit robotic in the beginning, but I think I got over most of it and the human shines through a bit more now :)
Would be VERY helpful if you ADD the NAMES of the locations you mention annotated ON the video as TITLES.
Thanks, nice to have your suggestions! One remark: Within 5 km of Vágar Airport, it's illegal to use drones without a special permit. I don't know if you had one, but your shots at Tindholmur, Trælanípa and the waterfall fall within this radius. This year someone was arrested for flying drones there, and police and the airport are monitoring this actively (partly because Vágar attracts so many landscape photographers) and drone users risk a 650 euro fine. Because Vágar is also very much a heliport, with helicopters leaving the runway at any angle, it's not just the runway approaches that people should avoid.
The Drangarnir part actually is almost 6km away so I flew my drone out there, but pretty low since I knew there might still be a risk. I knew that Trælanipa is well within the 5km radius so didn't bring the drone at that place - and I actually saw a plane come in very low above Bøsdalarfossur. I have the danish certificate to fly the drone and you can actually get around the "rules" if you are in contact with the airports control tower. But yes it's extremely important that people follow the rules (and laws) og drone flying.
Vey useful information bro! But how can I be in contact with the airports control tower? thx :)
Honestly I'm not sure. I heard it from a friend who flies a racing drone. I guess you call the airport who can get you in contact with them :)
Totally inspirational - were going!! Thank you for your information/ beautiful photography and glad we found you!!!!
Mads, please, in your opinion, which are the two best months to go to the Faroe Island? I wrote ti from Brazil!
Almost impossible to say as the weather is impossible to predict. August/September would be my best guess, but if you want snowy mountains go for March :)
Mads Peter Iversen tks, my friend!
You deserve three more 0 after your subscribers bro!!
Thanks Frank! Working on it! ;)
Wow the start of the new season is even better than I expected! Amazing locations, your stunning photographs and your funny descriptions (loved the Mordor seashore!) are a perfect combination... waiting for new videos :) Tuesdays are now my second favourite days of the week :)
Haha thank you so much Nina! I'm happy you liked the first episode here :) Yeah, I'm trying to show a bit more of who I am and what I think when I make my pictures ;)
After all these videos I can already recognise the key elements that you see about the landscapes when you're there.. when I see the video recording from a place, I try to predict the composition of your photo before you show it.. when I can :) It's really helpful for me, to be able to become better at landscape photography
A wonderful and inspiring video. You have a real story telling talent and amazing pictures to go with it. I cannot wait to see the remaining videos in this series. I really wanted go to the Faroe Islands before watching this video, now I'm desperate to go. Fantastic video, fantastic channel. :-)
Thanks a lot Julian! Means a lot! And I bet you'll enjoy the rest of the series ;)
Very impressive Mads ! Loved all the images. You midday images are just mind blowing. Most landscape photography vloggers just overlook this aspect. Your images are great examples of how landscape photography isn't just limited to the golden hour. Very inspired.
Thanks a lot Bobin - I'm happy you like them. I really believe that midday sun shouldn't necessary be a hindering, but it can be hard to work around ;)
Ankle support and dry socks required. If you don't have that you will be miserable.
Love the video... the dog with the rock is so funny... it the same dog I met while I was there this march...
Hehe yeah, it's very playfull! Was close to knocking over my tripod :P
I don't understand how the sheep don t go over the mountain and the dogs
Vágar - Streymoy - Eysturoy - Kalsoy
0:37 the most people will say, why didn't you go to Suðuroy. Or to the northern most place. Some where impressed by Lítla Dímun. And in this vid it is even not the whole island Vágar.
No, you can't be everywhere and how you made, it's great!
Wow! Amazing photography! I visited Vagar in March ... totally stunning landscape even on my iPhone camera 😀 Will watch the rest of the vids. Thks 💐
Hi Mads, thanks for the video - super helpful and best location info video I've seen. We're heading to the Faroes this Thursday. I notice you're shooting pretty wide focal lengths. What system are you using, is it a crop sensor? Just trying to decide whether I need to make a last minute super wide lens purchase or whether the 16mm on my Fuji Xt-2 should be wide enough.
Thanks again and looking forward to the next episode.
Amazing photography. I am impressed how you capture the heights! I got vertigo just by looking at the video 😮
Wonderful videos and photos as usual. Keep on going.
Greetings from France.
Thanks a lot Comer! :)
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!!! Your photo - travel vlogs each day are more addictive!! High quality footage, high quality photos, FANTASTIC trekking / roads tips!!!
Thanks Victor, happy you're following along, means a lot! :)
i shared it in my Facebook, this was not only one!!! People should share more, you deserve, magnificent work!
Haha thanks Victor! Much appreciated!
Hey Mads, thanks for the videos! Your photos are an inspiration. I even decided to visit Faroe Islands because of your videos, when would you recommend to go there? Is May good for photography? Thanks in advance for your tips!
Amazing new subscriber… I would to visit.🌹🌹☀️
Amazing video and photographs. I've just moved the Faroe Islands up to the top of my "must visit" list. Thank you
I've been looking forward to this series since you mentioned it a while back but the wait was worth it! This is an astonishing vlog Mads, your best yet and the accompanying images are sublime!👌
This island looks amazing and terrifying in equal measures, if you were to slip on the grassy slopes that would be it, some of those drops look mighty scary even sat at home!!!
The vlog is a superb advert for the Faroes and I can't wait for the next instalment.
Take care mate.🍀👍
Thanks so much Andy! I'm really happy you liked it! Yes the Faroes are indeed epic and dangerous all at once. Humans are so small and puny and we can only respect the raw power of nature! :)
I can only imagine what those vertical cliffs were like, they look huge!😲
I love your photographs and videos, simply beautiful. I hope one day to photograph the islands, thank you for sharing your work and inspiration.
Great images and presentation of the beautiful unknown islands to many people, called Faroes Islands. I hooked up with the beauty of this Islands. I will Visit this islands very soon and its in my bucket list! Mads are you taken a photography tour around.. if so I will love to hear from you.
I don't care about your treeless landscape. Show us your women.
P.S. Plant some trees.
the Faroe islands .... *_*
been waiting for this series
simply awestruck mate :)
Amazing Ruzlan! Now it's just about going ;)
Thanks these videos are really amazing and as we visit the faroes in 4 weeks really detailed and some great tips....whilst I can't say I have your photographic abilities we will hope to see some of the views you have shared...
I have been waiting for this video for so long! Love the content, the pictures and how informative it was! Keep it up!
I'm happy you liked it and sticked around for it Randolph! :)
Great vlog, fantastic images and awesome music, what is it called ? So inspiring, makes me want to book a trip there !!!
The music is by Alexander Hitchens. They're called New Horizons and Bravery :) And thanks a lot!
Thanks and keep up the good work
Thanks I will :)
Beautiful and amazing: The old hymn comes to mind, How great thou art
5:00 this is a northern fulmar, havhestur in Faroese, mallemuk in Danish. You have to be careful with these birds as they will throw up on you if you get too close to their nesting grounds, and I can assure you that it stinks really bad :)
Bravo! One of your best vlogs. Great pictures and comments!
Thank you Andres! :)
Congratulations for such a great video and for the amount of images you bring us. We greatly appreciate the number of locations you suggest (all free, which is not usual).
Thank you very much Mads!!!
Loved the video. Very detailed. Hope to trace your footsteps in Faroe Islands.
Do you know if I need a insurance for my drone (mavic pro) at Faroe Islands? Love u videos 👍🥰
