      Fantastic content as always, Mads. I relied on this quite a bit for my trip the last two weeks in June. I'd be curious to know if you've been back recently, and what your thoughts are on all the recent land use changes. I have mixed feelings. Having Drangarnir gate kept behind a ridiculously priced "guided" hike at 11am in June felt really bad.

    Outstanding videos of the Faroes. I visited first time in 1992 and was blown away. In 2016 I was back and was even more blown away. Thank you for making me want to go back again. Great work!

    These videos are amazing. Not just a practical guide to explore the Faroe Islands (even if photography is not in your main reason to travel there) but also a great source of inspiration and great tips how to best capture the islands' beauty on photography. I just come back from a one week photo and hiking trip to Faroe Islands and these videos from @MadsPeterIversen really made my trip easier and more productive. Not least, when waiting for the flight back home at the tiny Faroese airport, we just happened to meet Mads himself, who was also going back home from one more trip to the islands, and he was kind enough to spend some minutes talking to us. A great way to finish our photo tour to this amazing place. Thank you Mads.

    Bro, I can't understand why you have such a small number of subscribers.. Your videos are awesome! I discovered the channel like 10 days ago and I have watched all your videos already. I think you have to promote it better because the good content is here! Cheers and keep it up!

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  7 лет назад +6

      Thanks a lot! :)
      I'm literally doing everything I can when it comes to RUclips optimization, but that only brings one so far. I would love to promote myself more, but I want relevant subscribers who're interested in what I do and those are mostly found in different groups on FB and reddit, but it's a complete no-go to post videos in those (which I completely understand, there're so many bad videos out there).

    • @risk52
      @risk52 7 лет назад +1

      I see what you mean. I liked the fact that you upload the link of each video on 500px (I think I've found you from there) .It seems like you are a really creative person so I am pretty sure that you'll manage to find an idea for a good promotion ;)

    • @jongrall
      @jongrall 7 лет назад +3

      risk52 I think it just takes time. RUclips is so vast, but there's very little landscape and aerial photography content at this quality level. I'm confident that in time, with persistence, Mads' channel will gain in popularity and his work will be richly rewarded. For now, it's really fun to be one of the early fans of this channel - there's still a small enough number of comments that you can actually interact with Mads, who actually takes the time to respond, which is pretty special. Once there's thousands of comments per video, forget about it! ;)

    This is a really nice video with nice colours. However I would suggest to strongly consider boycotting the Faroe Islands due to their role of killing whales in large amounts. Since I am strongly against violence toward animals I will not visit the Faroe Islands until they stop the killings.

    Just came back from a visit to the Faroe Islands - a visit that I have you to thank for. I have two things to say; WOW - and THANK YOU. This was the most epic trip I have ever had and I already want to go back. I get mixed feelings as I think about the Islands. On one hand I just want to scream out what a wonderful place this is - on the other hand I just want to keep quiet and tell no one. The feeling of a unexploated country is so great - and I just want it to remain like that. At the same time i want to go back and I am just another tourist like all others. Thank you for your great videos. Keep it coming...:)

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  6 лет назад +1

      You have to keep an eye on the weather yourself. Just use any weather app to check the wind, the weather changes a lot in the Faroes. There's not really a best time to go. It depends on what you want. Check out my 5 tips on epic drone photography for some tips on using your drone and what apps to use :)

      I love lots of atmosphere in the shot, with a hint of show on the peaks. U travelled in March that was perfect condition any pros or cons of travelling at that time. I belong to tropics, is that too cold that time and as i am coming that far including iceland along with Faroe does it make sense.

    Thank you so much for all of your videos Mads!! they are so great, helpful and very inspiring. I am super excited because I will visit the Faroe Islands in just two weeks:) I will be there only Friday - Monday on my own to just go do a lot of photography. I feel pretty well prepared because I have watched all your guides and selected which places I want to see. There are so many it was hard to pick :) Also, thank you so much for creating the map. I purchased that as well and has been extremely helpful in planning my trip. I do have just one simple question for you. Where did you buy your food or meals? and what did you eat while you were there? since I don't have much time, I rather spend most of it photographing and going to all the different locations instead of stopping and eating at restaurants. Any tips for that? I will be staying in the town of Bøur, so that is where I will be doing my driving from every morning (super early mornings:)

    I originally found you through your Iceland photos on 500px and I agree with 'risk52' - why do you have significant less followers than others, with rather boring vlogs. I guess, this Faroe vlog is going to be my favourite one. I admire your simplicity, minimalistic and focused approach > 1947 Mies van Der Rohe said "less is more" I also agree that with your statement a few volgs ago - that this comes with the Danish Design and Architecture.

    i photographed alot of the most iconic places of the faroe islands, but sadly many of the pictures didn't come out as i wanted, because i was new to photography at that moment. and i agree the weather is really confusing, i waited at gasadalur for a bit of time where it was raining and cloudy, and when we decided to leave the sun peaked through, i got to take this picture of gasadalur, which i'm relatively happy with, but not something i'm super happy about either

    Stunning video work and stills ! I knew the faroe islands were beautiful but i had no idea how beautiful !! You should be commissioned for these videos Mads (if you're not already!) you've certainly made this a must see for me !! Thanks

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  7 лет назад +2

      Thank you so much Joe. I'm not commissioned to make these, but I did do some work up there for a couple of clients to pay the biggest expenses of the trip. Hopefully in the future it's something I can be payed for :)

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  7 лет назад

      I'm actually kinda divided on the being "commissioned". If you get a terrible client it can completely ruin the entire experience. I've learned over time what I can do/can't do and what to offer so that everybody will win :)

    • @joe.burdett
      @joe.burdett 7 лет назад +2

      I never thought of it that way. Great to have that experience to get a really good feel for what works and is enjoyable. I think it does reflect in the work you do. The more passion you have the more that shines through as in your videos. Nicely done though ! Can't wait for the rest of the series !!

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  7 лет назад +1

      Yeah it comes with experience also. I knew that I would be a bit robotic in the beginning, but I think I got over most of it and the human shines through a bit more now :)

    Thanks, nice to have your suggestions! One remark: Within 5 km of Vágar Airport, it's illegal to use drones without a special permit. I don't know if you had one, but your shots at Tindholmur, Trælanípa and the waterfall fall within this radius. This year someone was arrested for flying drones there, and police and the airport are monitoring this actively (partly because Vágar attracts so many landscape photographers) and drone users risk a 650 euro fine. Because Vágar is also very much a heliport, with helicopters leaving the runway at any angle, it's not just the runway approaches that people should avoid.

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  7 лет назад +1

      The Drangarnir part actually is almost 6km away so I flew my drone out there, but pretty low since I knew there might still be a risk. I knew that Trælanipa is well within the 5km radius so didn't bring the drone at that place - and I actually saw a plane come in very low above Bøsdalarfossur. I have the danish certificate to fly the drone and you can actually get around the "rules" if you are in contact with the airports control tower. But yes it's extremely important that people follow the rules (and laws) og drone flying.

    • @frankbai4245
      @frankbai4245 7 лет назад +1

      Vey useful information bro! But how can I be in contact with the airports control tower? thx :)

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  7 лет назад

      Honestly I'm not sure. I heard it from a friend who flies a racing drone. I guess you call the airport who can get you in contact with them :)

    0:37 the most people will say, why didn't you go to Suðuroy. Or to the northern most place. Some where impressed by Lítla Dímun. And in this vid it is even not the whole island Vágar.

    Hi Mads, thanks for the video - super helpful and best location info video I've seen. We're heading to the Faroes this Thursday. I notice you're shooting pretty wide focal lengths. What system are you using, is it a crop sensor? Just trying to decide whether I need to make a last minute super wide lens purchase or whether the 16mm on my Fuji Xt-2 should be wide enough.
    Thanks again and looking forward to the next episode.

    This island looks amazing and terrifying in equal measures, if you were to slip on the grassy slopes that would be it, some of those drops look mighty scary even sat at home!!!

    5:00 this is a northern fulmar, havhestur in Faroese, mallemuk in Danish. You have to be careful with these birds as they will throw up on you if you get too close to their nesting grounds, and I can assure you that it stinks really bad :)
