    I don't comment on RUclips often, but now I have to: I really appreciated this video! Calm, yet fluent and precise narrative. Informative graphics, superb visual representation of the places, still leaving something for people to explore themselves. Nice flow and coverage, but not too exhaustive nor long. Just perfect! Oh, and I don't typically subscribe easily....but now I did.

      John Zolis , they hunt wales not for rituals, but for food. Try living in the middle of the atlantic ocean during long harsh winters, with little means of communication to the rest of the world, and we’ll see if you’d rather go on a hunger strike or eat whatever nature throws at ya. and what does the country itself as a travel destination has to do with traditions and how people earn their food? If you only travel based on ethics then you might as well stay home cos there is no place on earth people don’t do shady and unethical stuff

    Very nicely put together with clear information.
    Sure, some of those names were butchered but you even showed it on a map with the names so it was always clear what places you were referring to.
    Great to hear you advise people to have good hiking gear (if they wanna go hiking). Sadly, we've had quite a few people going out hiking without really checking the weather forecast or maybe asking locals for advise and they've gotten lost in the mountains because of fog. This has led to numerous rescue missions, even using a chopper. Some tourists have even died from slipping and going off the edge. Most of whom were experienced hikers from other countries.
    So to anyone reading this. Please be careful and if you've talked to a local and said you'll be back then please get/give a phone number so you can update that person if anything changes.
    Just to name an example... Recently there was a tourist that took the bus and told the bus driver that he was going hiking and asked the bus driver to wait for him when he'd be back. When the bus driver came back for him there was no tourist to be seen. The bus driver then called the authorities because he feared the worst. They searched the mountains for this tourist only to find out that he had left with a couple in a car earlier without ever telling the bus driver. So a lot of resources, time and money was used just because that person asked for help but left without letting anyone know that he left with someone else.

    Around 7 or 8 years ago I was drinking late at night by myself & was exploring the corners of Google Earth when I ran into this island. I was fascinated by the images I found back then & knew that unless I was very wealthy I would never get a chance to go there. What are the odds that my girl asked me today where is the one place I would like to live in this world & I happen to run into a video that you posted this month showing everything it has to offer. Thanks dude, you gave me a huge peace of mind by seeing this.

    I'm norwegian and have had for a while a fascination with the Faroe islands (Færøyene in norwegian), for some reason. I think it has to do with the mystique around these little known islands (as compared to the more well known Iceland) and the fact that the language and culture is very similar to my own. Compared to icelandic I find that I can actually read and understand a lot of written faroese! Will probably take the ferry from Denmark when possible!

    My SO and I spent 6months travelling accross Europe, and the Faroe Islands definitely stole a part of my heart - the views are breathtaking and serene. We hiked along some of the footpaths and encountered sheep all along the way.
    I recommend for visitors to go to the art gallery (Listasavn Føroya) in Torshavn as well as the National Museum of the Faroe Islands in Hoyvik to see beautiful local art and have a better understanding of the Island's history.
    We visited by bus when we came in 2018, and it's worth mentionning that the bus schedules are built around locals needs(which is normal), therefore if you take more then one bus to get to your destination and you're heading outside the city when locals are heading in for work, school, etc you may have to wait a little while to catch your second bus - so plan ahead ;)

    • @AllanSu

      Haha I apologize for the pronunciations. Yes, I do agree that some of the fees are a bit extreme. Especially, when you compare the prices to national park fees like in Yosemite, where you can get an annual pass for almost the same price as the Drangarnir hike. But as I said in the video, it's better to have the option to pay the fee and see the place than not having the option at all.

    Faroe Islands; stay what you are. European and beautiful naturally. Do not go the way of the rest of Western Europe in mass migration, materialism and hate for your history. Protect what you have.

    also there are 18 islands not 700

    • @AllanSu
      @AllanSu  5 лет назад

      Most people would say that. But it's above 700 if you include the small islets and skerries (such as Tindhólmur). If you only count the major islands then only 18. But that doesn't make the smaller islets any less of an island, just because you choose not to count them :)

    • @Sammi84
      @Sammi84 5 лет назад
