I think for sure that at some point in the future I would like to visit the Faroe Islands, maybe possibly. But it looks and feels a bit empty or abandoned with only nature and a few houses here and there. Not much hustle and bustle exactly. Greetings from Christian Svensson, Sweden 🤔
The killing of more than 1,400 Whales in the region sparked outrage in 2021. At the time, the chairman of the Faroese Whalers Association told the BBC that while the number of dolphins killed was excessive,
@@kristensorensen2219 They tortured and killed over a thousand dolphins in one day. Severed their spines, and ran them over with cars while they were still alive to feel pain and fear. Disgusting people.
@@DWTravel There are way more sheep than you mentioned and tourism is not one of the main industries (yet). Also there are little islands those belong to Torshavn so the whole population is around 22 000. 😊
Yes, Sunday Sep 12 butchered over 1400 dolphins. Government warned against eating the meat because of high mercury levels. Slaughter was not “humane.” Done for “sport.” Reported that some children stabbed at animals with screw drivers. This is so distressing.
You'll need a bucket, for the vomit after seeing them savagely slaughter dolphins for fun. They cut the heads off dolphins while they're still alive.. Maybe take 2 buckets

Nope. Hardy people, Viking blood! The islands are on the Gulf Stream, and average temperature in Winter is between 2 and -2*C. Good house insulation, heating and warm, waterproof clothing are all you need!
On Sunday night, September 12th, a super-pod of 1428 Atlantic White-Sided Dolphins was driven for many hours and for around 45 km by speed boats and jet-skis into the shallow water at Skálabotnur beach in the Danish Faroe Islands, where every single one of them was killed. For such a hunt to take place in 2021 in a very wealthy European island community just 230 miles from the UK with no need or use for such a vast quantity of contaminated meat is outrageous.
Why do they do such a thing and what do the locals feel about it. It must completely polarise the native population. Frankly l am shocked and disgusted.
@@andrewdrummond8576 h, im from the Faroe's, i would just like to answer your questions. most people on who live here are completely fine with it as it's been a tradition on the island for thousands of years and if you're worried about the ecological damage then there is no need to worry as the whales we kill have a population of 1.4 million. as for the ethics, the whales we kill are always eaten and no part of the whale is wasted, we always kill the whales humanely so they don't feel any pain. maybe you should be more worried about the billions of chickens, cows and pigs that are slaughtered in inhumane factory conditions.
@@DWTravel Thank you DW from California. Your news and documentaries are wonderful. I can't look at this again though. It is just too terrible. Especially in this day and age.
Maybe she likes facts, not fiction Yes, the islanders like local organic food from animals that have not been enslaved. No these animals are not killed for sport of fun, but for food. Simple as that. How about everyone comment all videos about your country, be it about travelling to your country, or just kids playing in your country, and remind the world how evil your country is since it enslaved millions of innocent animals and kills them all for money and greed after they have been deprived of all their natural enviroment and enslaved. Sounds a bit irrelevant for a kids or travell video....hmmm..
@@blueheart8786 but remember, just because an animal is free it doesn't make it any better to kill it. It's like saying that it's okay to kill people that have freedom today because a few centuries ago we killed and enslaved people. So it's better to kill free people. Also, the population of dolphins are drastically declining year on year, but that's okay, right? Because the extinction of a free animal that's ultimately killed for food is okay. What will the "kind humans" eat once the population hits zero? I doubt it will be only legumes, veg, fruit and grains because they don't exclusively eat that now.
First of all it was not just for fun, its a tradition and it is used for food.
