I love how in terms of similarities in languages and how much we understand each other we got
Old Norse -> Icelandic -> Faroese -> Danish -> Norwegian -> Swedish
It's pretty cool how its linked
i love how the dolphins get murdered annally
Because they all come from Proto European language family....old Germanic, one of the branch was old Norse which then branched into west and east Norse.
P
So it’s all linked by vikings
Bullshit
Thanks to all of you for watching and supporting the video! I am very encouraged by the positive feedback!

Made it a point to visit the Faroes during a summer trip to Iceland. Absolutely worth every penny it takes to get there. 3 days was far too short, but the memories and photos will endure for me and my family/friends. It is a real treasure in the Atlantic
Glad you enjoyed it! It really is beautiful.
I found this video so strangely satisfying. And now I must visit the Faroe Islands.
Do not do that just go
I live in the faroe islands. It is an amasing place and i like to call it a paradise. Best place ever. If you have not been here you should come. ILL SEE YA 😂
Sára Poulsen wheres the best area to sail into to be able to site see and to get supplies?
Tbh i dont know but if you come you can go sail in alot of boats and if you go to suđuroy you can see beautyful islands but i think if you come in from the south you see all the islands
I believe you. One of these days...
Sára Poulsen Well, you are a one lucky girl. I'm so jelly.
i wanna visit your place one day!
I really like that you go in to lots of detail about the Faroe Islands, but still manage to talk about numerous other topics without making it at all boring. Keep it up!
Such beautiful landscape, I’d love to visit one day. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Your work is inspiring and impressing. Love your way of explaining things. Thumbs up!
I loved the Faroe Islands. I visited back in 2016 and fell in love with the people, the culture and the geography. Will be planning a return visit this year.
@Mocanu Stefan I may disagree with the grind as well, but it doesn't take away from the raw beauty of this country and her people. Most people had never heard of the Faroe Islands up until a few years ago. With the increase in tourism, the grindarap is getting a lot of negative publicity - perhaps this exposure will eventually put an end to this annual event. I certainly hope so.
Really well made video. Im looking forward for more great videos.
I'm from Orkney, I need to go visit my beautiful neighbours someday, astounding beauty.
yeah especially during the dolphin harvest
My favourite temperature. I want to move there
Vedrana Colić have to visit first . 😉 .
It must be cold where you live .
Btw . .your hot
Hal Heywood haha winter can be really cold in my country. But we also have a drastic change of temperature between winter and summer. In the summer temperature can be up to 40°C and more. I hate summer. Right now it's minus and I am happy.
I definitely want to visit!
Haha thank you 😅😊
Vedrana Colić where I live it gets cold in the winter . I worked on the water crab fishing so i dont mind . But 9 months out of the year its hot . Im from so.california

Very interesting document, thanks a lot.
I use to go from Denmark to Iceland onboard ferry Norröna and, as this ship stops in Tórshavn, that is a good opportunity to spend a week visiting Faroe with my own vehicle and my drone.
There are iconic places and good places to eat.
You forgot to mention and show the Faroese banknotes. They are among the most beautiful in the world, probably even THE most wonderful.
Faroes Islands is one of the beautiful islands in the world. It is one of my favorite places in the world. I visited the Faroes Islands in July 2015. It is so much green and mountainous terrain with impressive fjords. The weather is so changeable (rain and sunny). I took a local bus and boat to travel on the islands. Hiking was fun exhilarating and inspired by stunning mountainous island landscapes with nested coastal villages.
Nice video!
Greetings from the Faroe Islands!

There's a car ferry that sails from Denmark, through the Faroe Islands (stopping there of course) to Iceland. That's how I saw them. Great option if you want to visit all three places on one trip.

Great Video! I'd love to visit the Islands before they are destroyed/lost in over tourism.
Thank you for this great video! Great information. I hope to visit the Faroes soon!
Wow! This is interesting to know! 👍
3:14 is in Senja, Norway not the faroes
The Faroese language is old Norce
Hope Mind you mean Norse ? Anyway - Norse does not mean Norwegian
@@FenceThis Actually, in its most specific definition, it does. And by definition, the most specific of the English word describes both the language (Entry 1 of 2, 1a), people (Entry 1 of 2, 2b) and heritage (Entry 2 of 2, 1) of Norway, or norðrvegr/norvegr at the time. The explanations, as parenthesized, refers to the Merriam-Webster dictionary: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Norse
The word Norse is English translation of the Norwegian word norrøn (masculine and feminine) and norrønt (neutrally determined gender form).
NorseNomad actually it doesn't , and Merriam-Webster does not support that either, neither in general nor in its most specific definition. Norrøn isn't a Norwegian word either for that matter.
If anything, the Dutch reference is simply a corruption of the word " norsk ", meaning Norwegian in all Scandinavian languages.

What's the populated areas called villages? Towns? I didn't see many houses in the vid, just wondering
what an amazing video, thanks!
I really enjoyed this and your voice is soothing i subscibed keep it up
Interesting video! Just want to point out that the picture at 03:10 is from northern Norway (Senja I believe), not the Faroe Islands.
Although each Atlantic Island has unique landscapes every single one feels like home.
Great video! Loved the presentation and speed of facts issuing!
Now I know about the Faroe Islands
Very informative. Loved it. Subscribed.
I dont get it entirely about faroe islands independency but it certainly isnt correct. They had 2 votes where the first voted for complete independance. It was not recognised and a revote was done. This time the pro denmark won. Faroe islands has been a part of Norway the most time...
He has clearly not been in Faroe islands. Every person can easily tell difference between summer and winter in faroe islands. And it can be by the amount of snow which is none during the summer.
Lol one of the photos you included was partly Senja in Norway
Nice video, but there are a few misinformed parts. Such as the visa. And not to mention the rumor that of ditching the faroese currency for the euro. Faroese would never go to the euro and they are not particularly fond of the eu either.
That's what makes it a rumour not a fact!
Thank you. Well done
Great video! I’ve wanted to go before... now I REALLY want to go!
Nice video. One small thing though: the UK hasn't used that flag since 1801.

EXCEPT FOR THE DOLPHIN BLOOD ON THE BEACH, RIGHT?
@@lindanorris2455 No its great.
On Sunday night, September 12th, a super-pod of 1428 Atlantic White-Sided Dolphins was driven for many hours and for around 45 km by speed boats and jet-skis into the shallow water at Skálabotnur beach in the Danish Faroe Islands, where every single one of them was killed.
For such a hunt to take place in 2021 in a very wealthy European island community just 230 miles from the UK with no need or use for such a vast quantity of contaminated meat is outrageous.
1428. Is that all? How many captive animals in the UK was slaughtered that day despite being a wealthy nation? I would love to visit. I don't judge them.
Do you pay for fish to be slaughtered unnecessarily for your taste buds? It's either all ok or none of it is.
I see you left out how there was outrage in the faroes too, given it wasn't regulated. Instead of excluding that fact you decided to hide it in order for it seem like nobody on the Faroes cared. They did, sweet cheeks.
@@Nightwolf2595 I'm glad there was local outrage. Lets see what happens this summer

I had heard the name "Faroe islands" before but didn't know anything about them or where they were located.
In the comments bellow someone mentioned a whale killing tradition in the FI. That sounds interesting. I'm gonna do a search about that now...
You do. =)
Just you know, don't be surprised if tempers flair a bit when it comes to that topic.
Its a part of the Faeroese culture and being such a small nation and culture they're obviously quite protective of their culture, for good reason.
At the same time its a sore point for people like me who care about animal welfare and/or rights and who are less then thrilled about their hunting...
So with strong feelings on both sides of the conflict things can easily escalate a bit...
IM FROM FAROE ISLANDS ITS AMAZING
Simply not as impressive as the Staten Islands (U.S.A.), especially scenically (our municipal landfill is now an unrivaled international monument to idiotic urban planning), but the gap is narrowing every year and, mark my words, the Faroes will leave Canarsie and Hunts Point in its magnificent dust by the year 2040.
but staten islands aren't that interesting culture wise
I should add that there is, in reality, only one Staten Island. As far as culture goes, it all depends on what you want out of life. You can get all you want in Manhattan, which is also the center of Assh*le America, an eventual intolerable existence that rewards about 5% and screws the other 95%.
Freshkills and Greatkills are two of the most deadly places on earth.

@@toggy1198 LANGUAGE BARRIER!😀 I want to move to either Norway or Iceland once I'm old enough. But I don't want to sound and be treated like someone who doesn't belong there. I speak German quite well but when I am in Germany or Austria they still switch to English once I mention I'm from the Netherlands. And I know German for 1\3 of my life already... So trying to become "native" Icelandic or Norwegian will be very challenging I think, since I have to start from the very beginning...
