Heads up, I made a small change to the list featured here for the event.
I dropped 1 infantry Squad blob and the castellan with grand strategist.
I replaced them with a commissar and 3x5 man Scion squads so I could do secondaries

Great choice! Was about to leave that as a comment. You really do need those Scions or similar for the secondaries.

My only suggestion would be to run creed with one of the infantry squads and take a mortar so you can fields of fire ping anything within 48… and you’d get two chances to gain that extra cp from the voxes too

@MordianGlory if a model dies to a hazardous test you don't get the plus one to hit until the next time that unit shoots, since they're all declared simultaneously.

Yep the hazardous test is done after the unit has resolved all of its shooting. Lambast him!

What I love about this army the most, at least in comparison to the Infantry Guard list I came up with, is that everything has order support. You have the exact number of orders needed to give the entire army orders. I think I’m still going to go for a larger army by maxing out on Catachans and Infantry Squads in place of Krieg, but I’m going to try to rethink my list with more orders. So Straken to order two 20-man blobs, Harker to order a third, and 3 Platoon Squads for the other 3, and go from there.

This is what im aiming for with my meatfist ogors in AOS. Just an avalanche of as many ogor gluttons as i can.
Just a bit of an idea (definitely not criticism as you're one of the few W40k tubers I can stand to watch!) - you should get movement trays that reflect the guard regiment you're proxying - eg industrial wastland for Krieg, Jungle for Catechan, etc - wouldnt take much work at all to do (You've probably got some plastic palm trees and industrial gubbins to throw on) just makes it all a lot easier for you and you're opponent.
I've actually got no problem with them all being in the same uniform as thats how it was when I played guard (Im old), we used to use banners to identify the home world but that doesnt work.... Although actually a world banner attacheed to the movement trays would work just as well!

You need Gaunt's Ghosts, with such an army. You need to be able to threaten his backfield, otherwise a few tough units can block your whole army before you can reach important objectives imho.
I'd love to see this go up against a few big Nids of equivalent point value. Turn the tables regarding swarms!

My only niggle - and this is more a style thing than a critique of the list - is taking all these types of guardsmen when they're clearly painted/built to look like Mordians. But that's just me.

Mordian, what do you think of inquisitors joining?
The generic Inquisitor I think is a bit over looked. Him with a Nemesis force weapon and psychic gifts has 4x str 5 ap-2 d3 damage attacks, a combi weapon, and an 18" 2d6 torrent attack with devastating wounds for 55pts! Seems quite mean to me to put in one of your melee squads.
I created a 2,970 point guard army with 483 individual models in it. All battleline units with 3 commissars

If you don't when on points the enemy will die of old age by your 2nd shooting round. So win win
I would take one infantry squad with mortars, including a platoon command squad with mortar. Give them Drill Commander. You can mortar like crazy from the comfort of your home objective.
the only time I tried pure infantry, I failed miserably cause I didn´t have long range firepower. Thos infantry squads with heavy weapons are a must

Any chance you can do an episode for new player showing how to build a balanced force? I understand that for a veteran heavy skewed list have their appeal but I would like to see something easy to use based on the 3 pillars of your noob video (which I loved btw)
If you go balanced in this game you gonna eat...you know, i can tell you with a big amount of it in my score points.
BUT i love it too and that is why i use the flames of war squeme lists for doing the realistic guard.

3 traitor Guard
A grand total of 239 models.
Just started building this army. 10 guardsman down, 240 to go!

25 points Cyclops demolition vehicle. I always take 3. Cheaper than scions. Leave them on reserves bring them in to do corner tactical.
Also Heavy weapon mortar is not great. Instead do infantry, platoon CM and Castelan with drill commander. 3 mortars.
Cool list. I'm trying to think how'd I deal with that, as I run a guard/inquisition/knight. Combo list. Would be fun nonetheless
Well, if you're Tyranids you just bring 3 units of barbgaunts and effortlessly remove 3 bricks of infantry each turn. Then figure out what to do with the remaining 1640 points in your army.

2 flammencrisis + farsight+ comander
Cadre breachers in devilfish
And complete with whatever you want, with that is far enough for rape this list in t4 with 70% of the list in the graveyard vs 1 gost and the tetras.

I would go for more plasma if you have it for the infantry squads. I would definitely use more lascannons. I would take out one kreig squad and support for Scions, ghosts, marbo. If that is not enough points for this change then i would also take out one 20 man infantry squad like you did in the below comments. I might also consider pirmaris psychers.

I have 2 questions - 1)In 10th how would you propose this list (or any Guard List tbf) dealing with Bezerkers? and 2) As a player who ran 195 guardsmen/scions to a couple of tournaments in 9th, I never was able to have any time left for my T5 (I'm usually a quick player who even considerably beats Knight players for time on the chess clock when playing a 9 Russ list in 9th), how do you find that you are able to make the time to get to 5th?

What do you think about attaching a Psycher to each infantry to make the bulk of the blob have 4+ Inv against shooting? Or isn't it worth it, just let them die and respawn?

Short answer he already spends lots of points on characters and does not want to spend more.

@@WarpstormChronicles I am not sure, but i see a problem with the 4+ being only against shooting. I mean you want to throw this blob on an objective and with a psyker in it many enemy armies could just decide to not shoot and only charge them.
They should limit cadian squads to 10 peeps a squad and give cadian command squads the ability to issue two orders a turn (cadians only). To my idea this will really even them out comparing to the others, giving more tactical flexibility and enabling a stronger mech army.
But I like my 20 man cadians

Something I’ve been curious about, but haven’t seen much, what are your thoughts on adding Primaris Psykers and a command squad to a full 20 Krieg squad?
I’m not super into the meta, but adding the 6+ feel no pain and the 4+invul against shooting seems valuable to me, especially when combined with the bringing back of d3 Kriegers per turn.
Even better, add a death korp marshal and primaris psyker to a squad. You don't get the extra weapons and bodies from the platoon command but instead get a 5+ FNP. Enjoy your insanely durable Krieg squad.

So my question here is how do you distinguish the different types of guys? From what I could see the Krieg doesn't look like krieg and catachans don't look like catachans. Are these all just generic guardsmen that you're declaring as those units? Are these proxies? I'm new to the hobby and am very confused by what I'm seeing vs what you're saying.

I presonally used both and whatever it doesn't work.
Tau's just gostkill you and then flames you to the hell in a snap.
And even if you do the LC spam to protect and damage some armor it still not enough and you literally can't kill those mdfk.
I mean, this is not an edition to use infantry in the main battle purpose. They are the dudes who dies standing...and nothing more.
I will rather use karskin or grenade sucidal stratagem than combat units.
I would drop the catachans in favor of scout sentinels in squads of 2.
They can be kitted out with heavier weapons and they still accomplish the task of blocking / screening.
Daring Recon alone will give your squads rerolling 1s which is another buff to your shooting.

Slight confusion. I thought with the new 10th you couldn't take more than 3 of the same unit. So 3 krieg squads, 3 infantry squads ect. Am I mistaken and it's just 3 of the same thing. 3 inf squads with framers and autocannons and 3 inf squads with plasma and lascannons?

I would definitely drop some infantry for 2 earthshaker or medusa batteries. I love the models and out of los shooting is great.
can someone please clarify the legality of death korps medi-pack since it STILL IS NOT LISTED IN THEIR WARGEAR IN THE APP!? It's been actual months with this disparage between the app and the index cards on the datasheet!

How do you stop your opponents just killing your squads to under half strength and making you take BS tests all the time? Feels risky potentially losing primary on a 7+ every round.
I think that's an interesting topic that harkens to the next step of gameplay, micros are how you take out guard. Your tactic, along with shooting multiple squads to near death 1 round. And then clearing 2-3 next so they can't Regen ALL of them ya know.
Pretty sure you can only have one special weapon per squad in the infantry squad
Infantry squad is 1 special and 1 heavy weapon per 10, the squad size goes to 20, so 2 specials and 2 heavys per 20 infantry squad blob
One hellhammer and you already dead.

I have many armies. Running this type of list is never a feels good for my play group even a much less extream one. I cant run more then 40 guardsmen without my friends complaining about it. I play fast but feel like most people dont like playing against infantry lists because of how slow it is and how it invalidates half their army built to play none skued lists. Looks cool but is not fun for opponents sadly. I dont play tournements but i guess people dont care about it there or have no choice 😅
They complain at more than 40!? Even a balanced list runs 60 to 100. With movement trays it doesn't take that long and they have plenty of targets to kill. I bet they'd also complain if you brought an armoured company

Platoon squad is much way better than Command squad, Gaunt ghosts are amazing too. Also, Solar, Ursula and Castelan with Kasrkins are important for infantry list. Catchans are useless, you must use 2 units od Shock troopers because they have sticky objectives. Primaris Psykers are also excellent leading unit and Sly Marbo for assasination with Gaunt ghosts
Catachan are ok, not a combat squad but the flamenwerfer you need to rush banana.
Ouch, would be a pain to play against because the soldiers are not modeled differently to reflect what is krieg/catachan/cadian. That is usually considered bad etiquette.

Yes. It's frustrating to play against someone who doesn't use the correct models or mass "counts as" models. Had someone I played against last night and had no idea what was what because everything was a proxy.
