- if it appears that your power supply is working but you cannot turn your robot upside down on a bench and get it to run 10 seconds in each direction on land open up this simple connection and see if one of your spring loaded pins is recessed. pick at it with a small tool to get it to pop out again. it worked for me.
That worked. Pin wasn’t stuck down but there was miniscule corrosion. Unscrew and rescrew and now pins are touching clean contacts, and it now works as expected. Please add the tip button. Happy to pay for this good advice!
awesome! I just had mine fail again on a new "chinese" cable from Amazon. Opened it up and it was stuck down. There is a TINY spring inside those contact pins. You can actually pull the white tip of that entire plug off if you pull straight up with a tool or put it carefully in a vice and pull straight so you don't bend the pins. Then, the pins themselves easily pull out. They are about 1.25 inches long. I broke one apart because it was damaged and found the little spring inside it. spent the morning today searching aliexpress to find those little pins and sure enough it is just a "spring test probe". I just ordered 100 of them so that I can try to repair my other cable :) 100 of those pins was $4 on amazon LOL. I will post a new video if this works!
@@SeattleRotel here are the pins on Amazon. Spring Test Probes, Round Pogo Pins Resistant Good Contact Mini Size 100PCS with Brass Plunger for Circuit Soldering Projects a.co/d/3yObVf5
It definitely worked… thank you ❤
I cleaned with DeOxit. It worked.
Thank you for this. Headed to check on that now🌴⚘️✌️
Thanks for sharing, Robert!!
I repair these for a living I do lots of different test got a dolphin tester to test the controller for power then remove cord from the motor to check for power going through it. I remove the motor and do a bench test to see if it runs by itself. I have replaced motors on some cords on others and controller boxes on some.
@donr5593 have you ever pulled the 360 Degrees swivel connector apart I did and then you can pull the clear plastic housing straight off which will then reveal the two brass 1-in long pins. Those are the pins that make the electrical connection as it is swiveling 360 degrees. Those pins are actually replaceable and I found a suitable replacement for them on amazon. $4 for 100 of them. They are called spring loaded test probes. Each of those test probes has a crimped end that they crimp after they insert a spring. Sometimes the spring somehow gets past the crimp again so you lose the springing nature of the tip of those probes and it stops making electrical contact. Other times you get corrosion on those spring-loaded probes. Either case they are very easy to replace relatively speaking and cost 4 cents each versus $160 or more for the entire cord
@AndTodaysProjectIs No I haven't tks for the info. The cords that I replaced were the older cords without the swiffel.
I found the video after I found the problem and fixed it the same way. It was a driving me crazy and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Like your video. I was going to make one myself to see if it helped anyone. The cords are now $300 when it was just the pins getting stuck in mine too.

My neighbor was out of town and we cared for his pool. Used the cleaner twice. He gets home, cleaner not working. Took to Leslie's Pool, they said total rebuild would be about the cost of new cleaner and encouraged to spend $1100 on a new one. Asked him to bring home and my husband watched your video, and found the pin stuck. Cleared it and put all back together and works fine. Great video. Thank you!
So glad to hear this helped!

@AndTodaysProjectIs I've had to solder a "pin" perpendicular to the leads so they won't depress. The spring is busted inside and it seems like they get hot enough sometimes to melt the plastic.. Something is off for sure, but I'm thinking the heat might be from the long wire resistance?
be careful using vaseline on O rings as they can get damaged and you would be best to use silicone grease.
Good call
Thank You, middle pin was pinned down. You da man!!!!!!!!
So glad this helped you

thanks. it worked. pin was recessed, put a drop of oil around pin..pulled it up. cleaned up the corrosion...and all is good.
@@markdavis319 I bought 100 of those pins with the spring on Amazon also recently. If it fails on you again, let it be known that you can actually pull that housing straight up over the pens leaving them in place and then you can pull the pins out and replace them.
Wonderful explanation. Exactly what my problem was and you gave me step by step instructions. I live on an island and thought I would have to buy the whole robot, but you helped me fix it and I am terrible at fixing things. Thanks a lot and keep the good work.

Is that able to be taken apart because it is the Chinese copy ? I don’t think the real Maytronics one comes apart .
