  • The Maytronics anti tangle swivel connector is great to prevent your cord from tangling but if it leaks , the cable is useless. There are no spare parts available and a new full cable is AU$366. In this video I show how to repair the anti tangle swivel connection mainly using copper tape.

I'm curious of how long the copper tape will last being in chlorine water. Doesn't this piece get moisture on it?
I would like to try this but I'm curious of how well it held up. I don't have big chunks missing but definitely have grooves in my conductor rings. I did put some dielectrical grease on there and it seemed to make it better so we'll see how that works first.

The moisture should not easily get into the connector unless the robot is left in the pool for extended periods of time. Sealing the connector O rings with more silicone grease and sometimes the addition of a few slica gel balls will also help . So far no problems with corrosion. Of course copper and solder are not as good as gold . As long as your conductor rings are still conducting you should be fine. This fix really is for completely blown out areas and saved an expensive replacement.

I left it in my pool for 14-16 months, and it finally corroded and even started corroding the cable going back to the power supply (only made it half way)
I think a better design could let us get away with keeping it in the pool for longer, potentially the swivel could be outside of the water further up the cable.

My contacts are okay on the cable side. My middle pin on the other side is low and can be pulled out but it does not spring. Any ideas?

Glad you asked ! I’ve just completed another repair with the exact same problem . I could not get the pin higher so I extended it . I’ll have to make the video and show you how . It works perfectly now .

Oh I’d try silicone oil on the pin to see if it pops out more . If the white plastic looks melted it means high current has gone through that pin and it may not lift out more

Did anyone figure out how to make the pin spring up again?
