    Thanks for the video. I was getting Error 10 occasionally and then eventually it would just say Error 10 all of the time and the robot would not work. I took the swivel a part and found a bit of corrosion that was connecting two of the round circle circuitry. Brushed the corrosion away and that fixed my issue. Now my robot is fully functional and saved me from buying a $500 replacement cable. Thanks again!

    This was helpful, though the only mis-step (apart from pulling the wires out of the swivel) is trying to grip the threaded plastic to remove the nut. If you look at the other end of the swivel, you will see the internal sleeve also has two indents that you can use to hold with the long nose pliers to screw or unscrew the nut... Thanks for sharing your experience - turned out my cable is fine, so now looking at the motor board, as there appears to have been some small water ingress.

    I purchased my Polaris cleaner about two years ago. Got an Error 10 today which wouldn't clear, so I figured I'd check out the slip ring first. Apparently, the cable design has been changed. I was expecting a standard slip ring. Mine had an 1/8" TRS headphone jack and plug instead of a slip ring. The slip ring was fine, and my issue ended up being some sort of buildup on the control board caused by water leaking past a bad motor compartment seal.

    Thank you for the video. What should the electrical meter checks be? I checked continuity for the three wires with the corresponding spot on the back side of the PCB. It showed continuity no matter which wire and back location selected. Is this correct? My PCB wasn't the reason for the disassymbly, it was the wire insulation seperated at the junction entering the robot. I had to put a heat shrinking sleeve over it.
    Thanks

      You want to make sure there are no shorts with a meter. There should not be continuity between the ring traces or wires.

    Hi my name is Alex thanks your video is very good . I have slightly newer vrx iq plus Polaris 4WD when I open my swivel it is different construction than your model one side is a pin connector like older head-cellphones and other side is the hole so it like mother and father connectors so it doesn’t have that part (round plate) is you replace and it was wett inside also I am dried out and then I decided to check wires with multimeter since this unit 4WD it has 2 plugs to motor I thought the test inch plug off 3 wires individually all 3 wires have good test no breaks on them ,but the second plug has nothing in all three wires.The question is something wrong with this second plug which three wires it has zero reading assuming I do that test on the shorter part of the unit because I removed this pin from swivel whit rest of the larger parts of cable?Thanks Alex

    Is the swivel really necessary? In reality couldn't I just wire it together inside the swivel housing and make the swivel stationary? Mine gives an error 10 code on the power supply when not plugged into or connected to the cleaner, is that because it isn't making a full loop connection?

    • @kevinfundarek5294

      I would use an O-ring made of Viton or Buna:
      www.mcmaster.com/content/o-rings
      You will need to measure the o-rings in your swivel unit and replace them with the correct size. Good luck!

    • @kevinfundarek5294
      @kevinfundarek5294  Год назад

      I think the swivel unit helps, but how much is a matter of opinion. Most other pool cleaners of this type include one. I think the Dolphin brand provides a superior cable and swivel unit that is less prone to tangling. Please let me know your experience if you decide to remove the swivel unit.

    Hi, I am trying to follow your instructions and using oshpark to order the board using your Github zip. They are saying it is missing hte silk screen layer file? Any ideas? Thanks again for all this help!

    • @kevinfundarek5294
      @kevinfundarek5294  Год назад +1

      There is no silk screen layer for this board. A silk screen is generally a layer for white alphanumeric text to call out component ID numbers, which are properly called reference designator (or "ref des" in shop talk). This board doesn't have any components (i.e. resistors, capacitors, etc), so the layer is not needed and hence not included. As long as the board is rendering correctly on oshpark.com's site you will be ok. Many people have ordered the boards with no issues, so unless oshpark recently made operational changes there is no need to worry. Hope this helps you get your bot fixed. Good luck!

    • @jilltregarth2674
      @jilltregarth2674 Год назад

      In my case the seal was sound however I did pack lanolin grease (rubber friendly) inside the swivel between seal and the housing holding the swivel board and also external between lock nut and outer swivel housing. Finally, a special thanks to you for supplying the Gerber file for the board. It saved me a lot of time and heaps of $$.

      Glad to hear it's working. Millmax manufacturing is the largest producer in the world for those types of pins, so there is a good chance it came from them. If you use a caliper to measure the pin dimensions Milmax customer service can probably fine a replacement to sell you.
