    1:58 she didn't get pulled. She actually fell due to the gravity being shifted in that room. Also the opening scene in this movie wasn't bloody is because not all rooms are designed to kill you.

    • @deusdeaconReviews
      @deusdeaconReviews  7 лет назад +26

      no. She got "pulled" because it was supposed to be simon pulling her when he finds her later on in the movie, nothing to do with gravity, Also I didn't complain about the lack of blood, At all I mention it as a difference to first film certainly, I was more saying that the film has shit atmosphere because of the terrible cinematography, which Director/cinematographer andre sekula should know better, All of this I explain quite clearly in the video.

    • @IABITVpresents
      @IABITVpresents 7 лет назад +4

      And so Wiki says the gravity was flipped. Well what do you know, Wiki... Though it was about to happen to Max when he saw Julia lying in the other room out there, he tried to go through the 'door' and hung on tight because he was about to float up or something.

    • @IABITVpresents
      @IABITVpresents 7 лет назад +5

      Salem Baron Hi and I hope you have a nice day. Second of all, I watched that scene where Holloway and Worth tell their names to each other (Helen and David respectively), will that do? I'd love to point that scene in the movie but in RUclips most of popular movies get either copyrighted or hilariously small sized or too fast (and that is also mentioned in the script, go Google "imsdb cube" if you don't believe me. And that upwards pull of Becky didn't really look like anything to me (neither strong grab nor reversed gravity) but synopsis let me know of some other details of the movie and so, and I thought it might be gravity until it was revealed that Simon actually pulled her up and the scene at the beginning was just a different dimension! Yeah, how foolish I was! Lol! But that first paragraph of Cube 2 synopsis was not edited into something else on its Wiki page so I doubt the "every dumbass can write something into Wikipedia and it stays until its [sic] changed" situation. If a false fact is added to a Wiki page, it gets edited out rather quickly and not left hanging for months and months on there.
      Retarded my ass.

  • @CapsLockKeyon

    I think it would have been cooler if they took the time travel portion a little bit further and ignored the parallel universe thing a bit. So in the beginning when the girl is pulled upwards by Simon that's cool. It's explains what happened in the beginning. When we see Kate through the moving wall in the background at the beginning and then we see Kate looking at herself through the moving wall on the opposite side later in the film...that's cool. I'd have loved for time to mean nothing, but have things be one dimension, so at least things get explained...not just written off as "this was in another dimension."
    It'd make them seeing themselves die more impactful and more consequential. Could the death be avoided? Could their own actions trying to avoid that death lead them to that death, etc. Just a thought.

    Watching your rants it made me think. What If all your complaints were on directors part intentional.
    Why remove the numbers, why make this cube impossible to escape, Why leave them with knifes and belts and nothing useful and why have a bunch of random shmucks that don't have a niche. Maybe this cube was a way to test there patients. If they had stayed in one room eventually all rooms would have merged and they could have escaped. But left them traps and options to opt out of life early.

    Good review imo. I loved the 4D concept...but as the reviewer says the writing is appalling, almost nonsensical. Confusing the viewer just for the sake of video art is not clever...it just makes you ask why you wasted good money on it. The ending of C2 is especially badly done. The sole survivor is unceremoniously shot without a word, by the Cube’s creators/managers....why? There’s not even a clue. It leaves one feeling at best cheated. What a shame! All these cube films would be better off written with a straightforward scifi thriller feel, properly explained and better directed. Leave all the arty farty, confusing, modernist angle out all together and give us a story with logic and development we can enjoy. The next offering is Cube Zero, and it is a prequel.....imo if you need prequels, either your original story wasn’t told properly....or the prequal should have been the first one! Well, I guess some may argue that point, but either way.....Cube has lost its way....if it even had one in the first place eh!

      Nevermind. Some are surnames, some are names (like, Quentin is a name, while most of the other prisons are used as surnames). If they were adressed by names, then Worth would qualify as The Danza (David Hewlett - David Worth, Dave Johnson (a character from movie _Nothing_)...).
      Enough of this name offtopicness for today

    Could u review Cube I’m curious as to what you thought. I didn’t think Cube 2 was that bad. It would have been cool if it was a little darker and had better atmosphere. Comparing the movies together I agree the First is way better but it’s far from a bad movie.

  • @primeaffray7245
    @primeaffray7245 7 лет назад +6

    I'm perfectly fine with a movie being unclear or confusing....
    so long as it is rounded up, explained and makes sense at the end.
    It didn't.
    It was very confusing what the motive was for this cube, if anything.
    Sure, the first movie wasn't clear why they were in the cube either, but it wasn't necessary to know exactly what was going on because emphasis was placed on the situation itself being more important than the "why are we in here." The cleverness and realism glued it together and gave it a point.
    Like you said, in this one the motive was non-existent and plenty of questions were purposely introduced but none of them were answered. It was just a big ball of nonsense. Or, as you might prefer, a big tesseract of nonsense.

  • @corydale1665

    In the other two cube movies the prisoners were in jumpsuits with their names printed on them. In this one they are in their street clothing which shows their civilian status. The colonel of course has his military suit on and Kate looks a bit like FBI. The civilian clothing is meant to exemplify the fact that they were civilian contractors. The colors of the rooms are meant to be a symbol of the Rubix cube. The tessaract is a common stonemason or new age symbol. It can also be seen in A Wrinkle In Time. The movie itself has an undertone paralleling it with MK Ultra mind control. I came to this conclusion after seeing Cube Zero and they made such a big deal about consent forms. The other two cube movies had the colored rooms and mechanical traps which triggered the prisoners in a much more animalistic level than the white cold and clinical feel of the second cube with the highly scientific traps.

    • @deusdeaconReviews

      Meanings, representations, visual references whether those are indeed what the film is going for (I have my doubts) mean absolutely diddly squat if the film is utter arse gravy, maybe they should've spent more time on making a good story rather then symbols for stone masonry.

    Man you do amazing reviews. I feel like this movie could have been really good if they understood tone and how important lighting is along with good writing which they didn't have in this movie. They spoke to the audience like they were children but had a confusing ending that makes the writers look smart but actually are dense. I really wish there were more interesting death scenes but they are so boring and predictable. Where's the fear of the cube? Its just a fear of Simon in this one.

      Deusdaecon Reviews
      I just feel like they have a great setup for a movie but they have to hire the right actors, writers, and they need to get a film crew who actually knows how to shoot a scene. Movies have to be made carefully because one mistake can ruin it. Dont get me wrong the first cube wasn't perfect but the mystery vibe was still there along with the surprise when Quentin kills Holloway. I feel like they didn't build up to anything in this movie except the obvious reveal that 60659 is the time it self destructs. If you wanna make more characters that's fine but at least make them worth something. A good character needs to have drawbacks and things that they are good at, but the two handicaps in the group were just that, handicaps. They had no redeeming qualities and in retrospect should have been left behind for endangering the group. Take Kazan for example. He actually had use and revealed that some of the traps were activated by audio. (Never once did I ever ask why he had the mental illness by the way) But the two handicaps never did anything. Maybe Sasha could have been able to have something like better hearing then the rest of the group due to her poor eyesight, signaling the group to get away from the prism death trap sooner. And they could have gotten rid of Jerry's character by sacrificing his life for maybe Mrs. Payley. Simon not liking that she gets people killed would leave her in the room she dies in, in the movie. This gives Simon a Quentin type personality but the group doesnt run from him immediately because he tells the group before hand that he's a private investigator looking for a girl. Simon tells the group that she was dead weight and she was gonna get someone else killed. The group reluctantly agrees to go with him. Later in the movie they find the missing girl but she dies later in some trap (not immediately because you have to build her character and we also can't make it painfully obvious she isn't gonna die) Simon goes through grief and places the blame on everyone else, beginning to attack Kate for not doing more despite not being able to do anything. Simon gets restrained by the remainder of the group and Simon starts to ponder if it was even worth it and starts to go through depression. The group finds the second Jerry and Simon is confused and angry. Not being able to cope with his emotions he kills Jerry and he sees the watch. It says 6:01:00
      At that moment Sasha realizes that the code 60659 represents the time but they are not sure what for. They all start going forward but in vain. Suddenly as they open more doors another Simon comes in and is from a timeline where he did go fully insane (aka the one we saw in the movie) Kate takes sasha and Max and they go into a different room without thinking. Thinking that she got Julia killed Kate cries next to sasha. The watch now says 6:05:30 the last three watch as the place starts to fall apart and Simon comes in and he makes short work of Sasha, stabbing her. Max stands in the way of Simon and he tells Kate to escape. She jumps through but before she fully gets through She hears Max hit the floor. Simon tries to jump through as well but he's too late, the room destroys Simon and Kate slowly wakes up, waking up in the same water but Kazan is in the water, looking down at her. Kate leans up and grabs Kazans hand getting out and walking down a bright hallway. The movie flashes white and the credits roll. Of course this is just a rough draft of what it could be but we didn't need the ending we got for cube 2.

    I think the cinematography was thrown by set design. The bright environment makes the comparatively darker cast pop out. The lack of directional lighting and shadows throws off depth of field. The actors appear closer to the audience, while the environment appears farther away. Or at least large and spacious. I get that they wanted this to be more sleek and futuristic, but it just throws everything off.
