Before people start saying, "We need more people like her", please remember that the root issue is that higher education in the USA is too expensive. Most of the USA's developed counterparts don't have this problem. We should take Tetteh's kind act as a reminder that we still have a very serious problem in the USA in regards to higher education costs. She is a beautiful soul for her generosity, but no one should have to give up a scholarship they earned.
Edit- TLDR: Tetteh is amazing for what she did, but we don't need more people like her. Instead, we need our higher education to be affordable to working families.

What an amazing thing to know that our young generation has such a bright future. If I was the Father I would have walked right up on that stage and said we are not forfeiting this scholarship. It wouldn't matter if she had a full ride including tuition and room and board, there are many expenses that come with going to college over a 4 or 6 year span. That could have been 10k a year to cover car insurance, car note, travel to and from school by plane. It could have been used for off campus housing. If she got an internship in the summer anywhere in the country or the world and needed to have her own money to stay or to use while interning. The list goes on but she said no my parents will handle that. Theres a way to be charitable but you must do so in a way that doesn't make you regret it years later.
