- How to download MP3 & WAV files to an iPhone/iPad
In this video, I show you how to use a mobile web browser (eDI Lite) to download and save MP3, WAV and any other files to your iPhone or iPad in iOS.
Safari, Chrome and other browsers do not support file downloads, so there is no way to save files to use in other apps, however eDI allows you to download and save MP3s, WAV files and any other file type to any location supported by the Files app on your iPhone or iPad.
In this demonstration, I use the web site freesound.org to download an MP3 file which can then be saved to my iPhone or iPad and used in any other application.

Downloaded music can not be added to your Apple Music library unless you use a Mac or PC to sync it unfortunately.

Yes, as long as you can save the file to somewhere in your device or iCloud then you will be able to import it.

I have a question, can I download a particular unique sound from a mp3 song track ? for example there is an unique choir sound in a song or there is a unique sound which is used in a song which made tlhe song popular, can I get that specific part from the mp3 track ? Or even if I download that popular song can I trim and use some special sounds in my project ?
Hey there. Depending on where the song is shared online you may be able to download it. Keep in mind most songs are copyrighted and won’t allow you to use samples from them in your own songs.

That’s very strange. You should get the list of apps at the top and then the other files options at the bottom. Haven’t come across an issue like this before I’m afraid.
Yeah, depending where you are saving from it may not show the “Save to Files” option and instead show “Open in”. All you need to do is select this first and then choose “save to files” once it has exported.

This app isn't available for me for some reason. Does anybody know any alternatives? I have iPad (first generation), iOS 10.3.3. I've searched for a while and downloaded a few apps. Some of them didn't even work or turned out to be the wrong app.

Hi there. RUclips will play back video files, not audio, so you will need another method to extract the audio and download these, which you can search for online.
Also, as mentioned in the video, Safari, Chrome and other browsers do not support downloading, so you need to use the browser I mention in the video and the description if you want to download files.

How does someone get a song into the iTunes app on their iPad Pro that is emailed to them? I know that iTunes is no longer iTunes… It’s now the music app. Therefore, how does someone get an emailed song into the music app?
Hi there. So, unfortunately the problem is that there is currently no way to get a song in to the Music/iTunes app on your iPhone or iPad without using a Mac or PC and syncing a playlist. This has been an issue for a long time and I’m not aware of any way around it sorry.

Nope. In my experience the only way to get music on the the Music app is via a PC or Mac.
Hi, I tried this to download from splice.com (Splice sounds) to my ipad but it did not work. And I have a Splice account. Maybe I’m doing something wrong or maybe it’s not possible to download from Splice to ipad.

Thanks my friend. What part are you getting to where it is not working? If you're using the browser I recommend you should get the ability to download once you get to that option on the web site, but I haven't tried it specifically with splice.com.

Hi, Remy again... in downloads I’m getting an i instead of 3 bars. When I click open in, nothing happens. I downloaded the HD version of eDl because I’m using an iPad.
Ah... never mind. Rather than try to open the .wav file one at a time, I took a leap of faith and downloaded the entire zip file, which unzipped no problem. The .wav file once open from the zip file have the three bars.

True that! You'd need a second device though yes? One to play and one to record? You may also lose some quality due to the analog conversion.
I like the vid and the purpose. That said, it’s a lot easier to just an Android phone. Apple prides themselves as champions of creativity but alas they strangle attempts do so. Sad.
Yeah. File management is easier on Android but sadly connecting and using audio devices is almost impossible, which is why iOS dominates music recording.

Are you looking to download RUclips videos as audio? There are many websites that allow you to do this however there is no way to do this his directly as it often breaches copyright so Google don’t allow it.

Is this possible with an ipad? Need to save an mp3 into iTunes so can add to a K'note presentation. But audio automatically downloads to a wav format (saved in goog.drive) but the K'note software only allows access to insert mp3 audio from ITunes. How can put the audio here instead?

Hmmmm..... not sure sorry? Not familiar with the app. You can only hate to iTunes on you iPad by syncing with an iTunes library on a Mac or PC unfortunately.

Yes you can, however the easier way to download from Google Drive is to use the Google Drive iOS app. You can then save to your files app from there and use the files on other places. 👍

Ah gotcha. Yes, so there’s one additional step you need to do when downloading form other apps, and that is to choose the “open in” option first. It will then export, download and pop up the usual “share sheet” from where you can choose “Save to Files”.

The good news is that in iOS 13 we now have a very good download manager so things are much easier. Did take a long time though, you’re right.

Hey there. What sort of playlists are you looking to create? Unfortunately you can’t send midi to your “Music” app unless it is synced or purchased from iTunes.
