- Join me as I visit MagicLand, a theme park located in Rome, Italy. The park first opened in 2011 and is located around 30 miles outside the city of Rome.
The park features fantastic theming, along with a great selection of both roller coasters, flat rides, dark rides and water attractions all within a beautiful setting. Join me as I review the park for my first visit!
At the time of recording this vlog the park was known as Rainbow MagicLand. This was changed to just MagicLand at a later date.

From watching this, it looks like the park didn't have as much funding as it needed to open, so they focussed more on making it look good to get people in to the park rather than making the park an enjoyable experience once you're there. #randomnozzle
Nothing against you going and vlogging with your friends, but I enjoyed this more with it just being you. As you said yourself, what a beautiful park!

Please do a whole series of solo vlogs for each Theme Park. You could even call them a new name other than VLOGS, like a new series on the channel. We love group vlogs of course but solo vlogs have a different chilled out vibe which is great. They are more like Shawn the traveler instead of Shawn the presenter which the group vlogs feel like.

I love how Shawn is posting comments about how he could make amazing improvements.
I completely agree that he can do that, Infact I would love to see that a ride or a park completely designed by Shawn and some others maybe too.

The effects on the spinning coaster were broken the day you went. There is usually projection mapping, lights, and music.

Went here today and i had a fantastic time. I loved the water rides at this park. Gets you very wet which is perfect as it was very hot. Even in july the park was very quiet. The longest queue we done was 15 mins for the new log flume. Shock is a very good coaster. That first part where you are launched into the airtime him into the non inverting loop was the hightlight of the ride. Btw still no lap bars on the water rides and still people standing on them.

Hi Shawn, hope you will read this.
The park has got a very big Crisis form 2015 to today. As you saw, the dark rides were not with full lights or effects, the buldings were discolored and the park in general was a bit "dead". There weren't so much people around, the rides were not all open and the theming was badly reduced in some areas. In the Southern italy people are rude, but always great people. In these years, Rainbow Magicland was quite an abandoned park. What a pity. BUT, recently Pillarstone italy (from KKR) Bought Rainbow Magicland. They will build an entire new area of the park. An impressive jungle area in the former kids area(that was awful), so it is a pretty big area. They will adjust every single detail, they will "lubifricate" every single part of the park. They will add a log flume, a few more rides for kids and they will retheme some rides of the park. So, the park is going to reborn again. I hope you understood me, sorry for my english. And i hope you will come back here in italy! (mybe Gardaland Or Mirabilandia?)

Great to see a new park & such a pretty looking one too. Made a nice change for you to be on your own. That was an entertaining ride on Yucatan haha. Can't believe how quiet it was. Looks like a good time of year to go.

in 2018 MagicLand changed management, and in 2019 a new area was opened (where the children's area used to be), a new log flume with a volcano with special effects, a new horror house and more. In 2020 a new space area should have been opened (rip coronavirus) instead of Alfea, and in 2021 a new water park with separate entrance. In 2023 a new coaster will arrive!

I love Italy and Italians, but on rides it's sometimes just too much. They can get annoying ^^ But as always great vlog!

I've visited Rainbow many times since its opening day so I'll try and answer the questions you posed during the vlog.
-Yes, we Romans can be extremely friendly and curious about foreign people that aren't part of our everyday life. But unlike other culturally different populations, many of us won't conceal their curiosity and try to interact with people like you. :) Of course the more you go south, the more you'll get it, instead, the more you go north, the least you'll get it.
-Nope. In many years I've been there, Cagliostro has always been like that. Beautiful on the outside, more than meh on the inside. You're not the first one to despise its lack of substance...
-I really think Rainbow was way better years ago, with more parades and shows and all. I still enjoy it today but I can't help but feeling nostalgic about the good old days.
-Huntik 5D is based on a TVseries, and characters in the ride will tell you about summoning titans, rituals to break ("Come out and play!" says the one you filmed at the beginning of the ride), rescuing trapped titans, elements to aim at like eyes or other parts of the enemies bodies and finally congratulating with guests. Instead, Maison Houdini is about wizard Harry Houdini encouraging you to enter his manor/lab, only to set a trap on you and claim "you're under my property now". As for Attrazione Chiusa, it means "attraction closed" :)

37:00 I don't know if the ride was more enoying than the people in it. Haha, they were crazy.
59:40 The Pagode in the Efteling is a real trouble baby. It is a beautifyl attraction but it is most of the time broken. It is now opened again and you have a beautiful look on Symbolica, the new attraction for 2017.
Looks like Rainbow is a film company in Italy that used to run the Park. Winx is their equivalent of Tinker Bell (its closer to a similar show from the 2000's called W.I.T.C.H. that Disney had on Jetix as there is a super hero element to it. Fittingly, W.I.T.C.H. was based off an Italian comic made by the French for Disney.
I knew of there show 44 Cats as I follow the Nickelodeon socials (and that alone). I roasted the Nickelodeon Twitter when they announced they were doing a Garfield show. I told them, "You already have a show about cats, 44 of them."

The theming at Europa park is a lot better that is my favourite park I've been there a gizillian times.
The horror ride is like calandra at Europa park.
Efteling is one of my fav parks I love the hotel there
Merlin is second only to Disney but yet this park does theming way better. I agree in the UK we deserve better.

Just wondering, as Huntik has a great blend of screens and animatronics, do you prefer dark rides with screens or live sets/ animatronics. I prefer animatronics, I find it more immersive and it seems more genuine, so I do not enjoy some of the dark rides at Universal. Also I find screens can give me a bit of a headache. Also what is your favourite dark ride, some of my favourites are Pirates of the carribean, Ramases at Gardaland, and I corsair! And how does the theming compare to Gardaland, as the parks are going for very different approaches to get great theming!

Hello Sean! I have a question for you. Is it easier to film on ride videos in Europe than it is in the U.S or the UK . Before any one comments I do know that the UK is in Europe.
