I have Tiny Epic Western. I already know how to play this game and have played it several times. However after watching Ivan explain the game...I don't know how someone looking at this game for the first time wouldn't be completely confused. He's all over the place with the rules, not to mention the several times that corrections were made in the video. If you're seriously considering getting this game...Please do so, it's a great game! My advice would be to go find another video that better explains "how to play" if you need help.
Yeah, the magnitude and number of screw ups in this video make the game look more complicated and less fun than it is. Heaven forbid they do some rule checking and play a few games before making a video. It's like someone trying to teach us to drive having never gotten behind the wheel of car, but has only read about it. That was one of the things Will complained about with Tabletop in the past... the number of screw ups that were not caught by the production staff.
Samuel Jonathan - This is what happens when you try to rush through production to get your video "in the can" and published on RUclips for the purposes of "views" and "likes" and "shares" and ratings...and you fail to give a crap about the quality of the content. Ultimately...their doing way more damage to their brand in set real ways.
I find doing How To Play's *incredibly* difficult, remembering rules and getting clean takes is SO hard. Huge congrats to Ivan & Team for doing these videos and working on the hitches for the future. Fantastic series with exceptional production values. Glad the rules corrections are sorted, but still amazing job!
Yeah, but that's entirely not the point of this series. Don't get me wrong I have no issue reading game manuals, but this is literally a "How to Play" instructional series...
Well both he and the editors forgot that the rivals card is turned face down until the poker phase. I actually do enjoy this game, but it is a bit of a steeper learning curve than it initially lets on. Still very fun once you get the hang of things.
The best way to play this game is next to a roaring fire. With the game in the fire. Played this last night and it was an awful experience that I never want to repeat.
MrCScottie yeah they put it on some BS webpage where you have to pay. The only reasion I subbed to this thing was Table Top. I'm giving it one more week before I give up on them.
It's been moved to a site called project alpha that is a paid subscription. Screw you G&S. They said they'd post the episodes on RUclips after the new year. Ugh.
On one of the two new videos of tabletop on the description, says you can sign up on project alpha for the rest of the videos early, or wait until until early 2017 for them to be released to the public on RUclips.
DjLokaFoy ah. thanks. maybe I'll resub when they are out. lots of big channels are putting things behind pay-wall sights because youtube screwed them over on ad-rev. Derp.
You in a rush to push this video out? aside from the blatant mistakes you pointed out, you're not really explaining it well at all. I've played this game and yes, it is complex, but watching this video actually makes it seem more complex than it is. 1) If you have more than 1 rule mistake, you should reshoot that part. You had 3 you pointed out yourself. I counted 4 and a few rule omissions. 2) Put in cut scenes and insets to cards and pictographs whenever possible. 3) Play through at least 2 rounds if the game mechanic changes or there are multiple scenarios that aren't illustrated (2nd meeple, actual poker hands, why are you buying buidings, etc) 4) Pause between setup, actions, and end of round 5) Take as long as necessary to explain the game. You can't explain this in 5 minutes and the people who want it explained will sit through 10.
I applaud anyone's effort on making a how to play video, and this is a slick one at that, but when they are as short as this one you need to get the rules right. Otherwise, what's the point in the video at all? It makes me wonder what else you got wrong that you didn't catch? Now I have to read the rules.
I feel like the How to Play series is quickly losing credibility with how many corrections to the rules appear in annotations through the videos. I'm finding myself scratching my head more than understanding the mechanics, and I'd consider myself a pretty diverse gamer. Isn't this exactly the opposite goal of the series (aside from expose lesser known great games)? Come on, editors. Catch all those little details; they're important!
tabletop is now on their website called project alpha. It's a paid subscription site which sucks. They said they would post tabletop episodes on youtube after the new year. I'd post the link, but screw them for for moving tabletop to project alpha.
Why make a "how to" if you don't know it very well? I can make a how to build a house, but I'm a huge klutz with two left hands so it wouldn't be any good, so therefor I let people who know what they are doing handle that... This is useless...

I love this series, but there were so many rules corrections that I feel less informed about this game than confused... Sorry.
The manual for the game is awesome and you can just follow it during your first few rounds ;)
They should have reshot this and released this later.
Yeah, but that's entirely not the point of this series. Don't get me wrong I have no issue reading game manuals, but this is literally a "How to Play" instructional series...
They didn't even fix all the rule mistakes, there are still some in this video after the 'notes...

I am even more confused then when I started
I want this game just for those dice!

I saw where you were going and it still made me laugh. Well done sir.
I was looking for a game that had lots of complexity and very little fun. This could be it.
Wasn't Ivan on King of the Nerds??
Yeah he's been working for Geek and Sundry for a long time since,
when is table top going to be up....was the first 2 eps it?
Deconverted Man there's more, but I'm not sure if/when it will be released to RUclips

not trying to be rude but where is tabletop? I haven't seen a new episode in a few weeks?
skip8490 TableTop is on their Alpha streaming service until mid January or so, then they'll start posting to RUclips
Pretty sure they mentioned the current season only is showing the first 2 episodes during the end of 2016, then start again in January.

Nice vid

Maybe they're too busy with ProjectAlpha and screwing us youtube subscribers to get things right.
Giraffasaur also he doesn't know poker. An ace and two twos is a pair, not a two card high.
it"s like playing with yourself.
This one was tough guys. But we got the wrinkles ironed out on the next one.. Thanks for sticking with us!
just play it on tabletop.
this game looked great, bought it, started playing, we quit after 4 rounds because it was so boring...
where tabletop mr producer.....

Whats address
Sadly, these videos are much less intuitive than just giving the rules a brief read.
better still... watch it being played

Oh my gosh. Next time just redo the video, LOL! #toomanymistakes
Good video, bad hair cut...
I tried to give this new series a watch a few times and I just feel zoned out half way into them... Just kinda meh
1000 mistakes. Tell me the reason to watch this video to learn how to play...!
please stop making this. please
