Another source for base materials is to contact one's local counter top installers. They will often have left-over bits from where sinks are cut out, which can be fascinating started for model bases. Those counter tops might be as simple as plastic laminate fused to particle board to cultured or real stone. The counter top people often just dispose of these.

And I just bought a whole sheet of plastic "imitation stone" that is glued to chipboard or other frames, but I felt sorry to cut it because it is big and it is very convenient to photograph models on it))) That's why I found this self-adhesive wallpaper...

You might want to consider getting a strap-style miter clamp (sometimes labeled as a "picture frame clamp") These are handt for moulding around model bases as the compression is circumferential.

Yes, these tools are very useful but unfortunately expensive. Therefore, I make a self-leveling structure that folds almost perfectly at an angle of 90 degrees. This time, on such small dimensions, I got perfect corners. On large display cases, 1 m long or more, I can lose 1-2 mm)))

Imbir must have approved! He didn't knock John Smith's Shallop off the table! Like all your projects, so much skill and time well spent.

      Thank you!
Imbir always asks what can be stolen from the table. But he will never take a single piece himself. Therefore, I can leave everything on the table and the next day everything will be in its place)))

    Very Nice.
Protip: Where the two painted surfaces mate up, rub them with a plain white candle. The wax will melt and leave a light film which will ease assembly (and will not fuse together over the course of time).

This is really a stunning finishing touch to the display case, Olha !! I absolutely love it and admire the finishing touch with the marble. Looks just spot on. I do really admire your skills to make the grooves with the table saw, great trick and just brilliant !!

In terms of construction it wouldn't have been much more effort.
Only it would have been heavier...

Everyone thinks it's real marble))) This sticky paper under the layer of varnish looks like a real stone and those who didn't see how I did it, don't believe that it's not a stone...
