That is so helpful. I have a couple of IKEA picture frames I was thinking of using for this and you’ve showed me how easy it is to do. Thanks.
Really glad the video helped, Bryan. Yours will turn out even better, I'm sure!
Great job Chad!!! A Master as usual!!! Amazing and helpful video!!! Thank you very much for sharing your experience!!!
Appreciate that. Hoping these videos continue to inspire and help.
Awesome work. The rooster is cute. Loved the work you did to bring out the colors.
Thanks. Best part about it was it was quick and easy and added a good bit of interest to that Corsair model. Appreciate the kind words.
Every video you put on your channel never disappoints! Always something new to learn, thanks for sharing
Thanks, Ed. Glad you like the videos and hope they continue to be helpful.
I did something similar some years ago - but mine used cardboard to replicate the concrete and I brush painted it. Yours looks great though!
Thanks! Always many ways to get to the same or end result. Haven't tried cardboard but I know that some manufacturers already produce printed paper bases so that definitely works too.
@@kevinkelley3906 Another excellent idea that I'll have to try as well! Thanks for sharing.
@@kevinkelley3906 Sounds great. Would love to see some pics. You can post them over on my facebook page in you want: facebook/flyingSmodels.
Nice idea of rendering to what becomes a display base. I'm going to give it a go myself, nice work Chad !
Thanks for the feedback! Let me know how yours turns out.
This is great! I just finished an Academy 1/48 Corsair and have been trying to make a quick and easy display base. Thanks!!
Excellent. I hope this works out well for you and your Corsair. Would enjoy seeing some photos if you want to share over on my Facebook page: facebook/flyingSmodels. Appreciate that feedback!
@@FlyingSModels of course!
Great idea using that picture frame as a base; great tutorial. 😍 I’d just apply a matte finish; looks more realistic IMHO.
Appreciate that. Just a simple idea with lots of possibilities.
Thank You! Exactly the tutorial I was looking for- Very well done- all the data needed you've supplied + some ideas for a project of import to me. Appreciate your time and teaching technique, also subscribed to your channel. Cheers- JW
Excellent. I'm glad it was helpful. I appreciate your kind words and the time you took to provide them. Also, thank you for the sub.
Excellent work, Simple and effective. Thank you for making models of my country. Greetings from Argentina.
Appreciate that. The Argentinian markings always make for unique model. Cheers!
Easy and economic base them excellent Argentina Corsair build thanks for sharing geetengs of one Peruvian 🇵🇪
Thanks for the feedback and greetings from Peru!
To add more visual interest I personally avoid doing the "expansion joints" at right angles to the base. Nice work!
Thank you. You are exactly right and I should have put these on an angle.
I have been tryin different things for bases...im so glad i found this channel this afternoon.i was searching for a way to use foil on wing edges that took fire and found out you can cover the entire plane with it..great work guy!!! I subscribed!
Thanks for the sub and I'm glad to hear that some of the videos have been helpful. Just need to find the time to get back to the bench and make some more. Happy Modeling and let me know if you have any questions down the road.
@@FlyingSModels ok, and i definatly as the virus has turned my life upside down as it has many others, and somehow i saw a "going out of biz sale" at store similiar to Michaels and made the jump back to models after 25+yrs. But my brother and i arent slappin them together just to pellet gun them and fill'm with firecrackers this time around. We had some real beauties back then but mentally, lol.. So im constantly coming to hurdles, but YT has really helped. Great Work👍and again thanks for uploading your pieces
Nice job, Chad!
Thank you!
Great job!
Thank you, Jose'. Hope you are doing well.
Nice. I have notes, though. A detailed explanation of painting the logo, for example. Does that really need to be in there? I thought we were talking about airplane parking ramps.
Appreciate the feedback. Feel free to fast forward through the boring parts...hahaha. Editing the video to take it out would be a bigger hassle ;)
Very good tips
Hope they help. Thank you!
Sir hi,that tip was really very helpful, thanks
I'm glad it was helpful. Happy Modeling!
I absolutely love the Argentinian corsair and with that base it looks fantastic! I wonder if a similar technique could be used to simulate a naval aircraft sitting on the deck of an aircraft carrier?
Appreciate that, David. It was a really cool project and I think the base made it stand out even more. You sure could use this technique to create a carrier deck if you wanted. You would just change the scribe patter to match the carrier deck and paint it a little different, per the carrier deck reference images. Probably not as much oil staining and such but it would be easy enough to replicate.
@@FlyingSModels thanks for the insight.
Anytime, David!
Hunka sheet plastic, some contact cement and a sheet of wet sandpaper in the scale-appropriate grit, but nothing more coarse than 1000. Because carrier flight decks are coated with non-skid paint. You can even mask it and paint it.
Congratulations on your skill in this aircraft yard.
I suggest the flight deck with those filth from Nimitz-class aircraft carrier flight operations
Thank you.
Great suggestion again. Thank you!
I've just started building a revell hawker hurricane 1/32 scale. Damn awful !! I think it would be best displayed at the bottom of a wheelie bin!
Once again great work Chad
I always thought that one would have been halfway decent. Hate to hear of the struggles. I guess no base for it in the near future :)
Thanks, Edward! Appreciate the support!
for the stains on the tarmac, could you use tanya wash ?
You sure could. Probably better to thin it out a little but it would work.
@@FlyingSModels Thanks I will give it a try 👍
I am curious, to what ratio were the paints thinned before spraying?
I usually mix my Tamiya acrylics at a ratio of 1:1 or there abouts with their brand thinner.
Thank you sir!

Thanks for the good feedback!! Appreciate it!
