Neat. A simple base, works great for photography. I built one much the same for my Verlinden Pzkfw IIL Luchs. I set it up to look like a road in the Falaise Gap, the tank abandoned after running out of fuel, with a couple of soldiers walking past during the retreat.
@@ModelNerd So far I've only put pics up in Imgur and then direct linked to them from various forums. Not even sure I've taken any pics of that one. I'll have to look in the archives.
Brill idea with the Lego. Ive tried Stone walls with Talus myself in the past, but took the far more laborious approach of gluing individual stones.... Off to the attic to dig out the kids old lego stash!
Absolutely glorious! 👍 and the neat trick with the lego was inspired! Blimey, laser cut Flower's!? Modeling has certainly come on from when I was doing it back in the 80's, the stuff available now really does allow someone like yourself with bags of talent to really be very creative.
The “I think that’s the technical term for it” about the krycell water made me chuckle. Good stuff as always…the blending looks so realistic…enjoying it from across the pond!
Pro-Tip - When you make the Lego mould for your wall, spray a thin layer of light oil, such as WD40 on the lego first. When the wall dries, you'll be able to pry the lego off the wall with ease without disturbing or breaking any stones away.
I really enjoyed the tank build and the vignette is the icing on the cake (so as to speak)....such a great job and many thanks for your tips, especially with the wall. I concur with your thoughts about using foam to make a stone wall.....easy to carve and less messy than pebbles and glue. Thanks and see you soon.
Being a Lego collector my first thought was “Noooooo” but when you pointed out it was the cheap imitation stuff I applauded 👏 A nice overall effect and perfect setting for the tank.
Nicely done! I have plans for something similar, your video has given me some good pointers for making it. Another video I've seen recommends coating the inside of the Lego mould with Vaseline to reduce the risk of the stones sticking to it.
An easier way to make the wall is to use a museli bar, one without raisins though. And when painting it use enamels so it doesn't affect the syrup holing it all together, if you need a broken down area all you do is take a bite (before painting) hope this helps....
Thanks mate. Yes, it's the Krycell water available from Precision Ice and Snow (www.precisioniceandsnow.com/store/p25/Krycell_water_100ml_and_200ml_kits.html). I've used it again just last week in my Zero jungle diorama (video will be available in a few weeks) and I'm really pleased with the product.
Really nice job! I think your idea for the wall is very interesting i haven’t seen that before, though I do think making a mold out of something that won’t stick to pva. Also the tree turned out really nice! 👍
Very nice vid, great little scene. Wouldn't it be a little easier to use slightly smaller stones for that wall? I think the company Javis makes smaller stone type things for this sort of use. They look just a little bit unsteady when they're together. Great vid though, and thanks for sharing.
Thanks. You might be right. I have some much smaller stones (gravel-like) but nothing in between and at the moment I can't go out to get any :( I certainly think 'flatter' stones would be more realistic too.
Hi, it's nice work. Especially, I never seen your way of making stone wall. Anyway, you know KAMITSUKUri. It's very good paper art. I'm happy that I could watched such a video. I just subscribe your channel. Thank you !!!
Thank you. The applicator is by Noch - it's something like the Grassmaster, I think. To be honest the build quality isn't great for the price, but it does the job.
Excellent! I'm going to make a few more too, after realising that smaller vignettes like this are much more fun than some of the huge A4+ sized dioramas I tried to make when I first got back into modeller.
It looks really good
Thanks mate

The end result is fantastic, well done!
Thanks Mark
Cracking job on the wall...the whole dio in fact!
Thanks Greg!

It's definitely a fun approach. I've tried it with bracing made from XPS foam before too, but (fake) Lego seemed better.
Wow really nice job!!!!! Really enjoyed
Thanks mate!

Thanks mate. Yeah, it's crazy how many products are out there now.
bags of talent yes, but also bags of money or sponsoring...
The “I think that’s the technical term for it” about the krycell water made me chuckle. Good stuff as always…the blending looks so realistic…enjoying it from across the pond!
Hehe...thanks mate! I hope all is well with you.
Excellent. Gonna try this.
Thanks

Thanks Craig - good tip!
Beautiful work done my friend, nice way to make stone walls. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate, glad you liked it.
Very nice
Thanks mate
Great diorama !
Cheers - I'm glad you liked it
EXCELLENT JOB!
Thanks Lawrence. Glad you liked it.
thank you
Thanks Francis
That LEGO technique is genius
Thanks. I saw the idea in another channel, but I can't remember where now...

Beautiful job on the diorama and tank ;) I like that stone wall and the water a lot 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Dang that looks good!
Thanks buddy.

Haha, thanks Simon! "In this video I'm going to be making wall molds out of my Lego Ultimate Collectors Edition Death Star" :)
😂👍
Nice diorama. .
Thanks Christian

Another video I've seen recommends coating the inside of the Lego mould with Vaseline to reduce the risk of the stones sticking to it.
Cheers Ian. I think the Vaseline would work - I thought the lower surface area of the Lego would be enough, but it wasn't really.

Haha. I do wonder about those dioramas that use baking powder for snow, herbs for groundwork etc - surely that has potential to be bug central?
@@ModelNerd I would have thought enamel paint on top would take care of any bugs!
Nice how to video, is there a link to get the water effect? Cheers

@@ModelNerd cheers will take a look at it, have a Vietnam dio to do for a Sheridan I’m finishing off. Thanks again.
I’m gonna try and remake this, I have the tank but I made a terrible diorama for it
Always good to reflect on previous work and how it can be improved. Although sometimes when I do that, I feel like my skills are getting worse! :)
Really nice job! I think your idea for the wall is very interesting i haven’t seen that before, though I do think making a mold out of something that won’t stick to pva. Also the tree turned out really nice! 👍
Thanks. Unfortunately most stuff does stick to PVA...

Красиво получилось 😍😍😍 мне нравится :)
Thanks :)
Did you use static grass aplicator or just glued it by pva glue?
I used the static grass applicator although to be honest it is hard to tell. I still need to get the hang of using it properly.

Great

You have persuaded me to make an actual diorama

Only if it's Tamiya XF-52! :)
