Remember to also use DP 1.2 in, a lot of the cables show 1.1 or 1.1b DP (display port). The output has to be 3840x2160 @60hz. The graphics in the Surface Pro 2017 is an Intel HD620 for the m3/i5 and HD640 for the i7. That being said, the video card can easily display UHD / 4k - fair to say that it would not put much strain on the system (maybe, but I doubt it on the m3). So it is very important to pick the right cable, none of the BB crap and that is all we have in store in Canada. Go to your local computer reseller, they generally have one or two in stock.

I connected it to the offical surface pro 4 dock but it recognizes only 2048x1536 (it runs via converter on HDMI). Is here problem the dock or a converter. What converter should i buy to support 2k ? Hi, thank you for the video. Just a quick question.. I have a similar setup, by trying to watch 4k content via Netflix on my Surface Pro 2017 which is connected to my 4k monitor. It seems that Netflix doesn't like the connection between mini displayport to HDMI. I do have 4k resolution on my Samsung 28inch monitor, but cannot watch any Netflix content in 4k. How can this be fixed? Thanks

I have a cable that connects my Surface Book 2 to any 4k device at 60Hz. I read somewhere that in order to view 4k video on a 4k tv, the device it's streaming from would need to be 4k. Is this true? If so, it sort of defeats the purpose imo.

Hello...I got a Surface Pro 3 and the Surface Pro 4 keyboard with fingerprint sensor. If you compare the differences between the Surface Pro 3 and 4, the biggest difference is the keyboard is soooo much better on the 4....and it's completely compatible with the Surface Pro 3! The other differences are very minor IMO. Also, I got my Surface Pro 3 for only $350 as a grade A refurb from Newegg. It looked absolutely brand new! Not a fingerprint! Works perfect too. I got the Intel i5, 4gb ram, 128gb SSD. Simply an Awesome product! That with the Surface Pro 4 keyboard with the instantaneous unlock with your fingerprint, and I am in laptop heaven! And for about 1/2 price of the Surface Pro 4!!! Check it out...saves you a ton...I highly recommend! (:^)

Problem: I have a MS Surface Pro 4 (i7, 16gb RAM, 256 GB HD) and a MS Surface Dock. When I connect my new 4k monitor (SAMSUNG 32" Class Wide Screen Ultra HD LED 3840 x 2160 Monitor - LU32J590UQNXZA) to the MS Surface dock using either of my cables (miniDP to DP or miniDP to HDMI), the monitor works fine for a while, and then it starts cycling/flickering. I've tried numerous display settings, connecting directly to the Surface Pro miniDP port, etc., but nothing fixes it. Is the monitor simply incompatible with the Surface Pro 4, or is the active cable something I should try?

My "Surface pro 3" will not connect to my rather excellent "BenQ PD3200U" monitor I just purchased for £700 by using a mini display port or a display port to HDMI converter I do not get 1080p as nothing happens at all when I plug the laptop into the monitor, tried the way descibed in this video as well as restarting the laptop in different configurations ... the monitor HDMI works great with a £20 Roku and the display port works great with my desktop and geforece 970 card at 4k.
But it won't recognize a £800 surface pro 3 Laptop, go figure. I am pretty sure it's a problem with the laptop because I have had weird display problems with my last monitor and the SP3 . FML I dont know whether to return the monitor or sell the laptop at this point. If anyone has any ideas ....

memes for keem I believe it's because of the size of the screen. The amount out light shows that way. In person it does not do that.

I have a surface pro 7. i bought everything in this video and dont have the display port provided on the surface pro 4, i assumed this would work for me and that the adapter port was a USB-c... instead i have a $13 dollar paper weight. and a brand new TV that wont do... what i wanted ... first world problems...
