I guess affordable is subjective as well.

I upgraded earlier this month from a 32" 4K IPS panel to the LG OLED 42" C2 as my monitor it is easily the best panel I've ever had on my desk.

I really dislike those large quick launch tv buttons taking up all the space on remotes for things I never use.

48" LG CX OLED has been the single best "gaming" purchase I've made in the last decade. Better than any flagship GPU I've bought.

now my electricity bill can render in 4k120

Man after buying my first OLED (77" LG C2) earlier this year, I simply cannot recommend anything else. First thing I watched was Interstellar on 4K Blue ray. Absolutely jaw-dropping. Save your money, skip any LED-based TV. Get an OLED. Thank me later.

  • @herbyverstink

i sincerely think that 48" is the maximum size you'd want to go with for a monitor

Weird that you seem so surprised about all of this. The C9 you mentioned has airplay and the AI stuff as well, 4k/120 on all 4 ports as well. Or at least the EU models do, maybe different with the NA models?

I’ve been using my LG C1 55” for over a year now as a monitor and absolutely still love it. Image retention was a concern at first but with all of the precautions put in by LG I still have the same great image as the first day.

I use a Quest 2 VR headset over wifi 6 for a desktop and it works really good. Not only can you change the distance of the monitor, but you can also change your environment. That provides something that no other monitor setup can. It's also nice for 3D movies.

I have a pretty cheap 4k 60 hz LG tv that I played Xbox One on and occasionally play couch PC games on now and it's input lag is very minimal, especially compared to friends' TVs. Pretty sure I've had it for about 7 years.

I just went from a dual 27” 4K/60 and 1440/144 to a 42” LG C2 and I have zero regrets love OLED and 120fps is more then good for me

I've been using a 55" TV for years. It's much more comfortable than sitting at a desk. I just went with three 55" screens for sim racing and flight Sims.

Surprised you didn’t mention burn in 🙂 that’s one of the main advantages this has over the OLED screens for daily PC use. Linus and Wendell have both had OLED burn in issues

Love that Jay is soo excited about the “Magic” remote that uses a cursor, no different than my 16 year old Wii

I have been using TVs as monitors for well over 10 years, and have been shocked that more people don't. Even in the "early adopter phase," my DLP supported 60Hz - and actually 120 for Nvidia 3d Vision which was amazing for many games (and ironically anime) and I was sad when they discontinued. But with TVs at all-time affordability and many users unable to tell the drawbacks... there doesn't seem any reason now not to use a TV (or several) for PC display.

I understand the primary audience for these videos, but I really wish there was more talk about PiP or PbP when discussing TVs used as desk monitors.
