    What if your dog still barks from their bed or is already on their bed when doorbell rings

    • @KryddaFesten
      @KryddaFesten 2 месяца назад

      If the dog is alredy on the bed the the dog dont need to go to the bed. Its like if you are going to eat food and you are alredy sitting ther you are going to eat, you can just stay. The barking is a nother training part that you need to be able to have control over wher ever you are.

    I love this. I'm definitely going to try this, but I have 3 dogs and just one is the crazy barker that gets the other 2 to start barking and rushing the door. If he were out back and the other 2 were inside and someone came to the door they wouldn't even get up when the bell rang or if someone knocked. Thank you Tom😊😊😊

    I understand the "place" command to be an important command, however, when a dog goes from 1 to 10 mentally when someone comes to the door - commands usually are not followed in these situations... at least from what I have found. Sometimes when actually getting into their environment additional tools (e collar) have worked well to get their attention.... even just ther vibrate or beeping has worked.

      It's a start Tami, this certainly is not a fix all and it's done. If you listen to what I ask "what do you want to work on today" This is only the beginning.

    Where are you based? I really like a ton of what you teach, and it’d be so amazing if I could bring my dog so that we could learn from you.
    My one question, I was taught that annoying the dog with “place place place”etc like that teaches the dog that it takes you saying place 3 times to do the command. Is that true, or does it matter? I know you said during the praise say “good place good place” etc which I agree with 100%, but I’m thinking saying “place place place” until the dog does place.

    • @edwardellingson9096
      @edwardellingson9096 5 лет назад +1

      It's easiest to teach the command with "target" that is easy for the dog to identify, which is why a raised platform (like a dog bed, conveniently enough) works best. You can transition (generalize) to lower places (pun intended) after the dog is dependable on you sending her away to the raised platform.

    Alyson here. Great video. When this happens - followed by jumping up, I repeatedly tell my dog to ’sit’, then reward him. Although this takes the heat off the situation he then goes back to excited jumping/greeting. What am I doing wrong? Also do you ever come to the UK?

    So I have watched quite a few of your videos and I have a all white German Shepard that I rescued when he was 1 and the guy used him as a guard dog. His kids couldn't even have friends over or walk throughout the house because he would bite. Now I have gotten were he is really good outside the home and all he does is bark when people knock on the door but if they enter he growls and circles them and will bite if they tell him what to do or move from where ever they are. I can't break him of it. I have tried the prong collar it intensifies his aggression and holding him back from people make him worse. Hes horrible in the car. Even if it's someone he sees everyday if they don't live in the house its the same way every time. Can you please help me

    Why does the dog keep whining? I was wondering... My dog does that too sometimes when we are training and I can't get my head around it. Is it a bad behavior that needs to be corrected, or should I just ignore it and keep on working with her regardless? I always take it as a sign that she needs a break...

    I want my gsd to bark at ANY noise at the door. As soon as i open it she shuts up and checks the person out (if they are coming in) because i trained her to quit when we open the door. She barks at someone at my back fence too. She should, i do not correct these behaviors. If i tell her to hush she shuts up. Usually takes a second harsher hush but she always does so to me that is perfect. Their situation sounds alot different than mine, and their dog sounds much more aggressive, but i dont know why someone would want to own a gsd without a natural territorial attitude towards your property as long as there is discipline involved. We live in a sketchy neighborhood, if someone breaks in at night i want her to alert me, which is exactly what shes always doing. She knows i check it out and give her the ok "its ok" (sternly not passively) and "hush". If someones around my house when im not there i want her bark to scare them away. Shes a sweety, wouldnt hurt a fly though. Someone jumps the fence shes probably running with her tail tucked, but she'll bark her ass off till the jump over. Good enough for me i never taught her to attack and don't plan to. God i love that dog😍🤗

    • @audrawelsh8467

      Teach a bark command. Once they know the command, say bark and ring the bell. After you’ve done that a few times, ring the bell and say bark simultaneously. After the dog starts doing that quickly ring the bell THEN say bark. Eventually the dog will start realizing that the ring means to bark

      For service dogs?¿ Don’t need a siren warning when someone rings the doorbell? It’s annoying? It disturbs the neighbours? The only reason you’d WANT a barking dog is if you train it to be a guard dog. This is a family pet.
