Sometimes, when you use products and discover issues like this, it makes you wonder if the engineers of these products actually get feedback from users who actually use the products 😂 Great video JB!
Two years with this and I’m finished. I’ve changed to pro grade lawn fertilizers etc., and since I’ve had nothing but issues with this thing. I applied phusion kms plus, large prill and I’ve never seen this jump to 12 each time I released the handle like now. I see no reason to need to upgrades to a fairly new spreader. I wanted to like this, but from deflector, to opening regulator, it’s pointless. As much as I hate Scott’s, I’d take that before this. Wanted to really like this, but I have a life and see no reason to upgrade minor issues that they never had the foresight to see. Great videos and keep them coming.
@@GarageGear Well, a prominent person (like you) needs to advise them! But I later thought that perhaps they made it smaller because of the issue you encountered: the added resistance. If it adds that much additional stress on the mechanics, they would have to beefen up the entire assembly, raising production costs, and cutting into their profit margins, which means a higher sticker price, which results in slower sales. The ol snowball effect.
Got my 3D printed agitator from Dustin from mirror image coating. Thanks JB I was looking for something just like this from the time I got my spreader. No more rocking side to side
I don’t have this spreader but am in the market for a new one since my 20 + year old Scott’s speedy green 3000 is giving me trouble after years of dependable service. (The body has a crack and the gate keeps getting stuck open) My biggest concern about replacing the agitator with the larger modified one is can the transmission handle the additional loading stress added to it? And your comment about it’s slightly more difficult to push is proof it’s adding stress to the tranny. Earthway or Spyker both high on my list.
I hate to say it JB, but we've had such perfect rain in Minneapolis that I havent had to water or fertilize the lawn😮! My old Speedy Green spreader is way up in the garage rafters😂.
5:03 - "That stays up there tight!" And without any expensive pills! 🤣 Also... You could have avoided the need to cut the legs down, JB...just get some taller shoes. 🤣
@@ChuckP25. that’s an oldie! The bucket on this echo is still a pain for me. The shape doesn’t fully allow product to reach the bottom. I prefer the bucket style of the earthways over the echo. Product gets right to the bottom. I think you can find some bigger ones for your situation!
I regret purchasing mine. :( there's another issue not mentioned in the video. Fert gets trapped in the side guard. Once you lift the side guard all that fert drops in one spot. I had a few fert burn dead spots because of this. I will eventually fill with sea foam or duct tape, but damn! I'm close to selling this thing off.

With the 4 fixed issues, would you pick this over the Earthway one you did a comparision to or still stick with the Earthway? I am looking to get a new spreader and both would be perfect for me but not sure which one. TIA
JB I’ve got a cub cadet zero turn with the BEAST Kawasaki motor. When I store it for winter here in Cleveland should I run all the gas out of it or do you recommend a certain fuel stabilizer?
If possible can you tell me when you replaced the agitator and how has it held up so far? I message Mirror Image Coating to order one, but wondering about its durability. The Height of the legs haven't been an issue for except for one small spot in my yard.
