This is weird because I just bought a bunch of maintenance stuff for my riding mower, lol. I mowed the front lawn last week and got half the back lawn done and broke a drive belt on the mower that I put on 3 seasons ago. It was an OEM belt from Husqvarna that I gave $40 for. This time I went to Ace and got a belt made by Rotary Corp. in Glennville, GA USA for $54. Hope it holds up longer than the last. Also picked up oil for it, a new Wix oil filter, fuel filter and air filter for it. I'll just clean up and reuse the old spark plug as it's only a couple seasons old and still has plenty of life left in it. I'll also grease the spindles, axles and steering gear while I'm at it. I replaced the deck belt last fall with a belt from Rotary, so no need for a new one of those just yet.
Might I suggest instead of using red and tacky grease for the wheels and such try a marine grade water proof grease. Still super tacky, spins well and when you wash the mower it prevents rust better as well. I think it would be better for snowblowers as well. Since I've started using it on my snowblower and snow pushing garden tractor I've found it actually does repel water better.
I agree 100% with all those products. I just did the spring time ritual of going thru my mowers (removing deck, check out bearings and lubricating moving parts, etc.) Now I'm almost giddy waiting for the grass to get long enough so I can get out there and mow!

They really seemed like well built quality mowers, unfortunately JD isn’t in the residential walk behind market anymore. I did buy a John Deere S 240 rider a few years ago so I filled the void from my youth😎

In the summer I also want to paint the rusty spots on my ariens snowblower with Ariens Orange, but it's covered with fluid film. (I wonder who told me to do that 🤣). I'd be interested in a video on how to prep the surface including getting the fluid film off so it can be primed and painted. 🙏
@@brandon_burbach hey Brandon you could use something like super clean degreaser or maybe even brake cleaner to get the fluid film off. Warning though it does discolor some paints to use it lightly. 👍
👍🏻I’ve also been using Supertech full synthetic 10w30 for years in my Honda mower, Kohler powered log splitter & small Yamaha generator. And same oil but 5w30 in my Generac standby generator. Awesome oil for the money. I bought a 5gal VP Racing gas jug with a flexible clear spout. It has no weird valves or triggers, just a big jug with a screw vent cap. I use my electric Worksharp belt sharpener to sharpen my blade. I used to use a Dremel but with a 80 or 120 grit belt, it’s faster & easier.
LOL! My gas can is brand new, but it's the same old style we used when I was a kid. It's a steel can made by JustRite It seals shut with a spring latch and a cork gasket, has a large pouring spout and a detachable funnel that you can leave attached and pour straight from the can into. They have a spark arrestor built-in to the spout for when filling up at the gas station and they last forever. They're a bit pricey but as with most things, you get what you pay for and at my age (55) I doubt I'll ever need another one, unless I buy a blue one for kerosene for my torpedo heater.
I would love to purchase an All american blade sharpener jig one day. Until then I'm stuck in the old ways of using a vice & cone balancer. I think you covered everything in this video.❤
Hey Bud, just watched and as always, I gain. I'm going to check out the blade holder that is awesome. I see you use 5-30 on mowers. I always thought straight 30 was for summer. That's my learning for today. We just got 4" of slush Thursday and I used my Toto 5/21 with my Predator for the first time awesome. It did clog at the end as it was too heavy. Thinking of buying another to replace my 208cc-factory engine on my Craftsman Quiet Technology, we'll see. Be well my friend.
Hey John! I learn a lot just being involved with this community as well! 5w-30 full synthetic generally has a wider temperature range. Most manuals mention that 30 is good too.
