Hi Shawn I loved the opening with the hen & you collecting her eggs. I remember those days all too well. Some of my hens would really bite hard & leave a mark. It was worth it for fresh eggs. Then the electric fence I double remember all too well. I hated it always got shocked. Our little brother would test it. That hurts bad. So Ms. Cookie was laughing at you big time lol. Twinkie caution sweet girl. Mar Mar sweet boy don't touch it or babies. Lov baby Snickers thought he would nurse on Aunt Cookie. Glad he didn't get too far. Enjoyed this video. Are you all having fireworks going off now. Ours started yesterday & will continue till after the 4th. They don't know when to stop at night. I love Tiny Herc. so much. He is always the last one to leave the stall. All of a sudden there is a clearing after the bigger babies make their exit and there appears Tiny Herc. Such a sweetheart. Hope the fence works well and keeps all the babies inside.

I remember as a teen leaning in to pat a horse not knowing the barbed wire fence was electrified. Zapped my chin wicked bad, but it was worth it.

When I was 14 I touched a electric wire for horses with my right arm. I felt it down to my pinky toes and into my brain and my right side was numb for a hour. I think if I EVER need a electric fence I will use a tester.
But then again I am HIGHLY sensitive to electrical charge our water heater wasn't grounded right and I kept telling people the water zapped me they didn't believe me until the water heater went out one day and they realized it wasn't grounded right. I feel the zap in bare phone wires that plug into the phone too.
I get zapped by my phone while it's charging. I have to be careful touching most electronics and I kill digital watches within a month or 2.
You know, you've worked with this electric fencing long enough that you should be able to just get your hand just near enough to raise the hair on the back of your hand and you would know if the fence was on and at what level.
At an amazing homesteaders' conference in Coeur d'Lene, Idaho today (and tomorrow). Sorry you were stuck doing something so boring as fencing, but glad that it's working!

Chicken was like leave my eggs alone I want babies
I was replacing a lightbulb and had to stand on my tip toes to reach the socket. Paying more attention to reaching the socket instead of what I was touching I accidentally grabbed a hold of the very top of the metal part as I was trying to screw it in......found out immediately that the light had not been turned off.......it was quite funny after the fact but wow!! It felt like I couldn't let go of the bulb at first and let's just say I have been extremely careful during the years since!!! Lol lol lol

I do not like electrical shocks .as a young girl gone hit real hard witha fence started under one the old farmer had hooked it up to a 110 volts knocked me to the ground an burnt my back . Nope no testing it for me.

I have to do electrical for my neuropathy, dead nerve endings & sometimes it shocks me, feel it in spots where I have live endings!
