It's good to see Rebekah on camera more lately and more verbal too. I think she had to get over a little camera shyness first 😬, but she adds a lot to the videos. That's the way it usually goes though you start out wanting to do a small project or two and it turns into an all-day affair. Thanks for sharing. 👌

I was having flashbacks from this spring when I thought I was the only one who had pigs that tried to tear out the poly wire while I was trying to install it. It was much funnier watching you go through it then it was when I had to deal with it. Just two weeks left before our three go off to camp.

Evan, I saw this tip on another video and I thought I'd share it. They use the PVC caps on their wooden fence posts to keep the rain water from rotting the posts from the inside out. Just an idea since I know you've spent a lot of money on your fencing.

Another trick for your tanks would be to use some goldfish or other type of algae eating small fish. They can help keep the water cleaner supposedly. I’m in Minnesota so it gets to cold here.

My subcompact would fit through the door but it would still be really tight trying to maneuver in there. Our barn was the same way. We had to shovel or fork out the box stalls and the feed stall by the manger. Some years it was 2 feet deep. We had the same issue with the chicken and brooder houses. Still nothing but good memories of our farm. Pigs are too smart for their own good. Lol One year my Dad put some pigs in an electric wire pen in the woods. When it came time to move them, we had to catch each one and lift it across where the fence had been. They flat refused to cross that line. Silly pigs.

This was a really enjoyable video and I really enjoyed seeing the two of you work together and accomplish all of your tasks. I think it’s a really great representation of how life is on the farm as you said, you start a job and then it turns into a bigger job and then a bigger job before you know it but when it’s done you feel really good to know that you accomplished a great thing. The barn did look better with those fence panels off of it even though I liked it with them on, however, it opened the work area so much more to take them off and it made total sense why Rebecca one of them off!!
I want to say how beautiful your pond looks and so serene with a pair of swans swimming around on it!
It was enjoyable to watch you guys train a little piglets on the electrical fence. I had no idea is it there Was a pre-training session before you just put them into a electrical fence area. I thought you could just go immediately from a small pen to an electric pen, so seeing the process of the pig learn how electricity works and how they have to avoid it and respect it was quite interesting!!
Thank you so much for the video and God bless you both for how hard you work and how nice of a couple you are. Have a great week& I look forward to the next video!!

Good job on putting the 3 month old bale of hay in the hole in the field where the steers are. We have done that in the past, a good way to not only fill the hole but to help slow down the erosion. Good idea putting up the temporary electric wire fence to train the pigs to stay clear of it. Great video, enjoyed it a lot, thanks for sharing, have a great weekend.

We also head 18 sows that farrowed nine every two months except July and January. We ran a two wire electric fence inside of the hog wire and at night they would walk around checking the fence and you could see the sparks fly between their body in the wire. We also milk 16 Holstein cows. This is on 130 acres of tillable land.

The two of you are a wonderful working team. I know the work is smelly and hard but it seem like fun to the both of you with talking and laughter. Way to go guys. The work had to be done so why not do it with some laughter, it goes faster. The piggies are so curious and they found out what was going on sooner than later. Three good shocks and they said boy what was that. They learn rather quickly. It was funny how they took off after the shock. Whenever they see wire like that they will know not to touch it. Your animals will love you for the good care you give them. Chores well done. Hard work but the results are worth it in the end. (Chores) jobs well done.

When my dad had pigs, they learned very quickly that the fence was not your friend. His biggest problem was when he wanted to load them up for market they would refuse to go through any area that had formally had a wire going across it. He also trained critters like raccoons and such to stay out of the garden by putting a wire up and attached something edible to the wire and if that was not effective enough he would place a small piece of flat metal under the wire. Sounds mean but things learn very quickly and they left the garden alone. His land included an old empty gravel pit and the pigs would root around the edges, making a trail around the rim. They were also great at keeping down the brush back in the woods. They can really be very smart, we had one that became a pet until he became too big. Lots of work that you are doing, but it is looking good.

Pigs are a really smart animal. they can be trained. One thing though if you want the pigs to walk out of the gate come butcher time, they won't go where the wire was. 1 day before you load pigs, don't give them any feed and move them to a new pen. Trust me that will work so much better for you.

I moved my 2 month old piggies to a larger pasture and strung electric fence wire about 8 inches from the ground to train them to stay away from the fence. That first day they got zapped many times, squealing each time then running into their shelter. After a couple hours of that they ran into the shelter and buried themselves in hay for the rest of the day. I felt bad for them.
