The last few episodes shifted from the main lead being Huntress to being Barbara and it was a massive improvement. If you say nothing else positive about the show, the actress playing Barbara is everything I want out of a live action Barbara Gordon.

Double Date is my favourite episode of JL/JLU because when JLU it's 1 of 2 episodes I remember watching as a kid, the other being the Wonder Woman turns into a pig episode, and I like Canary better than WW.
I think of the Return of The Joker flashback as being the spiritual amalgamation of The Killing Joke and A Death in The Family in the DCAU, so if The Killing Joke has to happen before the Birds of Prey can happen then maybe they form after that (which is also after Huntress and Black Canary’s appearances in JLU.) However, I don’t think it HAS to be after The Killing Joke in a continuity where Tim Drake is Killing Joke’d instead of Barbara. I would like to believe that sometime after JLU Season 3, some kind of Birds of Prey thing (like the one Timm described in detail) happens in canon that we just never got to see. It would be very nice to see Barbara come back to the DCAU in any form at this point if they continue to revisit it.
Chris Anderson What I meant by that was that the Return of the Joker flashback does for the DCAU what The Killing Joke/A Death in the Family did for Batman comics. Joker even makes Batman watch the footage of him torturing the kid, a direct reference to the Killing Joke. I think this flashback is so close to The Killing Joke that you couldn’t really do The Killing Joke in the DCAU without it being repetitive. I really do think of it as a loose adaptation

On other iterations, yes. On the DCAU, ugh, it would have ruined Kirk Langstrom as a good and otherwise sane character, as we've seen with Bizarro and perhaps Volcana.
animated Birds of Prey around the time of DCAU JL and Teen Titans(or much earlier during BTAS and Superman TAS) would be something I would've loved to watch. animated Birds of Prey in current year however? I can already expect where its heading and its a hard pass.
We did get enough Birds of Prey in animation that I as some one who never reads comics could follow who the team members are and what they do and where they are based so that I could geek out when ever it was done in an other show I also watched. The other World according to Bob Thank you! Not leading up to Anti-Monitor exactly but Crisis is a big influence for the story. We will see Psycho Pirate in an upcoming issue titled “A Heaven of Hell”
My opinion of the movie is it is very harsh on men, there isn't a redeamable one in the movie... However the movie is through the lense of a heartbroken Harley so it's understandable. I think it was a nice balance for a chaotic neutral character POV. Also think it did a good job setting up the birds of prey as their own stand alone thing without dragging HQ into it. It did a sort of half development of the three of them and I could see a BOP project come out of it if males would stop getting put off by the irredeamble male stench the movie had. Made me think of a few movies where there were no positive women movies that no one ever batted an eye at, and if you can take nothing else away from it think how some women feel when every woman with a line is a bad guy...
Now that you mentioned it, I now understand why certain villians from BTAS never made it to the JLU series. It all had to do with that Bat-Embargo! Smh 🙄 It makes perfect sense why any of the Bat villains ( with the exception of Clayface)never interacted with the Legion of Doom during the final season! Weird ... I agree with you about the Bat-Embargo theme playing into the Arrowverse. I noticed how the Arrowverse's Suicide Squad suddenly disappeared when the 2016 movie came out or that Argus had to change the team's name to something different? In addition, I believe that when Zari from Legends Of Tomorrow will all of sudden disappear from the team by the time the Black Adam movie arrives. She's his gf and later wife in the comics. Btw, Zari is known as Isis in the comics. However, due to political reasons, she can't use that codename.

@Watchtower Database, Gotham City was always BEHIND on technology compared to Metropolis and other cities. In present time Metropolis had ray guns and skyways & looked futuristic .. as Gotham still had regular streets, Old bullet guns, and the scenery (even in the revamped episodes to some degree) looked like it came out of the 1950's/stone age. This could also apply to why Gotham in 2039 STILL is using block phones/cell phones AND Cd's... unless Future Gotham just implements a Balance of New and Older technology.
As we can see from the film BOP only works if it’s Babs as Oracle Black Canary and non-Wayne Huntress And the film is DREADFUL. It’s worse than the first Suicide Squad .

So, how's the Legacies comic as of August 2023 doing?

My opinion of the movie is it is very harsh on men, there isn't a redeamable one in the movie... However the movie is through the lense of a heartbroken Harley so it's understandable. I think it was a nice balance for a chaotic neutral character POV. Also think it did a good job setting up the birds of prey as their own stand alone thing without dragging HQ into it. It did a sort of half development of the three of them and I could see a BOP project come out of it if males would stop getting put off by the irredeamble male stench the movie had. Made me think of a few movies where there were no positive women movies that no one ever batted an eye at, and if you can take nothing else away from it think how some women feel when every woman with a line is a bad guy...
Now that you mentioned it, I now understand why certain villians from BTAS never made it to the JLU series. It all had to do with that Bat-Embargo! Smh 🙄 It makes perfect sense why any of the Bat villains ( with the exception of Clayface)never interacted with the Legion of Doom during the final season! Weird ...
I agree with you about the Bat-Embargo theme playing into the Arrowverse. I noticed how the Arrowverse's Suicide Squad suddenly disappeared when the 2016 movie came out or that Argus had to change the team's name to something different?
In addition, I believe that when Zari from Legends Of Tomorrow will all of sudden disappear from the team by the time the Black Adam movie arrives. She's his gf and later wife in the comics. Btw, Zari is known as Isis in the comics. However, due to political reasons, she can't use that codename.
Didn't stop the Archer cartoon on keeping the ISIS name.
Ive seen alot of episodes with green arrow so yea would have been fun to have something different

I like the ""Double-Date" episode but i would love to see the Birds of Prey's one! The movie isn't it, the tv series wasn't it either, can we have a good adaptation of the team at least once?!
@Watchtower Database, Gotham City was always BEHIND on technology compared to Metropolis and other cities. In present time Metropolis had ray guns and skyways & looked futuristic .. as Gotham still had regular streets, Old bullet guns, and the scenery (even in the revamped episodes to some degree) looked like it came out of the 1950's/stone age.
This could also apply to why Gotham in 2039 STILL is using block phones/cell phones AND Cd's... unless Future Gotham just implements a Balance of New and Older technology.

I'm thinking that Birds Of Prey happen later after Justice League Unlimited with Batgirl breaks her legs and form the team temporarily.

I dug the film. While I have a few super minor-nerd gripes, my only major issue is that this was not Cassandra Cain. Could have been any kid. It didn't need to have a character name from cannon.

Really enjoyed the movie. The story telling was a little all over at the beginning but solid overall. Really enjoyed the Huntress and Black Canary.
