Wearing a duty belt for decades i cant do conventional without quickly injuring the lower back near the spine. Sumo allows me to lift without lower back injuries, but does risk more cartilage issues in the knees. Saving this video to my powerlifting playlist😊
Great, explanation of the hook grip. I did it wrong for so long and tried the more relaxed grip and pinching my thumb the last 2 weeks training grip holds. Feels 💯 x better..
This is a great video, I watched my old videos of my sumo deadlift and i have a lot of stuff to fix to stay the least. I’ve lifted over 500lbs for multiple reps, so I’m definitely not a noob, but my triangle is absolutely huge and my hips are too high. Once i clean everything up i wonder how much closer i will be to 600 lbs😊. Thank you for the knowledge, I’ve watched hundreds of sumo deadlifts and technique videos, but yours really helped it click.
I train for functionality and my opinion is sumo isn't cheating. If you're a nurse needing to lift a 300lbs patient from the floor onto a stretcher, the last thing you'll be telling yourself is "oh wait, I better do conventional because sumo is cheating". Sure you can argue for competition it's cheating. But in this case, you're wrong. It is within the rules of competition therefore it is factually, not cheating in the very sport. It now becomes opinion vs fact of the matter. That's almost like saying low bar squat is cheating vs high bar squat. Wide grip bench is cheating vs close grip bench. They're all within the rules of the sport. I'm a conventional lifter btw if anyone wants to throw in that "oh you're defending sumo because you use sumo". I am however...Trying to find the best way for my body type on lifting off a dead stop object off the floor. This is for both competition settings and IRL situations. Thanks Mark! Amazing and very informative video.
@@PipleZiple bro its still weightlifting you are bit true about that i was just saying its 50 percent cheating at the beginning i thought it was joke if its not then my bad
Thank you again Mark for the opportunity!
What shorts are those???
You are built like a House 😉

Do the bullfrog deadlift its like a hybrid. Medium stance. With hand just inside of the knees.

Great video. I’m thinking of switching to sumo once I hit 5 plates on conventional
5:45 basically utilizing the horse stance, since you brought up the frog stance earlier
Excellent coaching
