Switched over to sumo due to back issues, much better, but struggled with higher weights... Turns out my sumo stance was waaay to wide, narrowing it to the power rings improved my sumo feel on higher weights dramatically Thank you for the info

Awesome video! I have just learned that I have a long torso and short legs. Basically making me anterior dominant and focusing more on the posterior chain, which led me to the Sumo deadlift. Would love to see a video on different body proportions and those effect certain lifts and training programs

Question: I have some problems when I’m training with heavy loads…when I start to lift the hips rise faster then legs and the movement isn’t fluid, can you recommend me a tip about it? Maybe the head position?Thanks for the huge work you’re doing for us !
Both are true. But the first one is probably the easier one to visualize. But usually cueing for the hips to be close usually has people squat down. Hips being close is for sure the objective, but I find just cueing high hips and upper body as upright as possible tends to create a better balance in practice.

Hey David! Do you have any clients with hip flexor pain during sumo? Most programs just kill my hip flexors after a few weeks and on days the discomfort is bad I end up pulling with higher hips/more bent over than normal. (Can barely walk after some sets when its bad too.) I usually do 1x sumo 1x conv a week as a result but even then the issue pops up. Any general advice appreciated - always found your dl vids super helpful!
Question: when you say press your feet into the floor, do you mean straight down? I’ve heard some advise “trying to spread the floor with your feet, with pressure through the heels and outer edge of the feet”. What do you think of this, what do you recommend is best?
Not enough to matter. Close grip bench is usually faster off the chest but that doesn't mean it's stronger. Look for balance and what feels strongest overall.
when you say rotate around the 52 min mark, what do you mean... ill watch the how-to hinge next when you say pushing into the floor, pushing feet into the ground right, i think its obvious but i do want to ask
I really don't think his stance is wide at all. Seems to be right around the rings. But yes. His toe angle is still much more forward than what I would expect to work for most people with where his feet are.
Hey man thanks for using our video (Front Banded Deadlifts). I just wonder if the language you're using is a bit too strong though - saying "never", "absolutely horrible", and "the worst thing ever" when referring to an exercise is a pretty hard stance to take and can run the risk of demonising exercise and cues for people. Context matters heavily in any exercise or cue, so we were a bit surprised when you said this! Totally get what you're saying about optimal position and movement though, so we're not disputing that. It's just important to point out that there are always exercises that (in the right context) can be used as external cues to help lifters achieve that optimal position. If the person is finding it difficult to find position (eg. not enough tension in the lats, armpits forward etc), why not use external cues like a front banded deadlift to help them feel what they need to feel? External cues like this one are generally pretty good at teaching people position, so why demonise this particular one? Are you saying all external cues are bad? Or is it just the context that you've seen it used? What are your thoughts on this? Our team respects your content so were just a bit surprised! It's a potentially irresponsible way to demonise exercise and exercise cues, which all have their place - in the right context.

Just push. Like you are doing a leg press.
