My biggest regret about Amy Winehouse is not appreciating/noticing the genius she was while she was still alive. A talent like hers comes around so rarely. I do have some knowledge of music, have played many instruments and played in some bands. As far as what I used to enjoy listening to when she was alive would have mainly been Classic Rock, funk, disco, some folk and easy rock plus many pop songs of my day. My musical ear has grown and I have a great appreciation for jazz. I now understand the incredibly soulful genius that Amy Winehouse was. Not only that but, she made it seem effortless, even when wasted. 🌹R.I.P. 🎙🎺🎶👠🎷 Let your suffering be over, beautiful one. 🌹

A year ago I started listening to Amy. I started doing open mics (because she gave me that confidence, long story) and would always do 1 tribute cover to her and 2 originals. Every single time I've done a mic for the past year (which is dozens and dozens of mics), there's always multiple people who tell me they are fans of Amy, love her music, and was happy I sang a song of hers. And every time I do her song, 1 second into the instrumental, I get immense cheers from people because they know an Amy Winehouse song is about to come on. People go wild every time. What an incredible influence and icon you have to be for such a thing to happen every single time. Amy you are still so very loved and cherished to this day

She was a singer, but she was a writer too... but I always felt that the music-business, and certainly the media never recognised he strengths as a songwriter... Much less a female songwriter.
