Wow, this video has given the first clue to identify my childhood first TV console. I believe that my dad was given it as a promotional item for his business, because there's no way he would have spent "good money" on a video game. I had a vague memory of being able to play several games (specifically Pong), with no cartridges. It was orange and black, with two detachable controllers. But that is all I could remember. At 1:54 I saw a similar looking console by Binatone, in their Master series. A little digging on the internet gave me my answer - the Binatone TV Master MK 10. I'm so excited, that can't wait to tell my little brother (who's over 50 now!). What wonderful memories this brings back. I sound like some old guy! Thanks a million!
I'm guessing in the early years of game consoles, there weren't really any third-party games. The companies that made the consoles were the same companies that made games for that specific console
Yup! That all changed in 1980 when Activision showed up who were former employees of Atari. Atari took them to court and Activision won the case. This inspired several companies (some of which had absolutely nothing to do with gaming, electronics or even toys) were making games because of the potential money involved. This ended up flooding the market with mostly bad games causing a market crash in 1983. Then Nintendo came to America with the NES and restored the North American video game industry.
Great video. Explain to me though how Gen 1 was from 1967 to 1980 and Gen 2 started in 1976. I don't get the overlap. I get it's hard to agree when the first 2 gens started and ended but the 2600 came out in 1977 so I think for sure that's when the second-gen started and the first ended
I have Nintendo NES Nintendo Super NES Game Boy Color PS2 (PlayStation 2) Slim XBOX 360 Slim PS3 (PlayStation 3) SuperSlim PS4 (PlayStation 4) Pro Nintendo Wii Nintendo GameCube
I think that it is the original prototype by Sony for Nintendo of a SNES with a CD drive. This ultimately evolved into the Sony PlayStation (PS1) that we know and love. There's a lot more information on the Wikipedia page for the PlayStation. All the best.

The SG-1000 is a copied redesign of the Tele-Sports IV.
Its weird that xbox 360 is already 16 years Old... and i still use it as my main console ...
You totally forgot Super Nintendo Entertainment system 1991
Sick video. Edit: some of those names in the early days were hilarious "family computer" lol. Even the music was rather catchy. Good stuff!
I believe that the Switch is actually a ninth gen console, the Wii U was Nintendo's eighth gen so the Switch is their ninth gen.
They kind of pretend the Wii U didn't happen
the switch is 8th gen same as the wii u,nintendo just had another shot with the switch because the wii u failed and only sold 13 million units
Was waiting for this with nxt gen consoles
