Mobile did help me 😂
Tried both things and still can’t fix. The NVRAM used to work for me but now neither of these work and I can’t get to an Apple store😩
If you have the 2019 computer, just press on the Finger ID for Siri and ask her something. When she responds, the volume comes back. At least it worked for me!

I have been having this problem 6-7 times now for the past 3 months. AND been freaking out like crazy every time this happens! No other article or anything online has helped me solve this problem, except this video!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU'RE A LIFE SAVER!!! GOD BLESS
God Bless you as well my friend. Glad this came in handy and congrats on getting it to work =]
Hi,
Thanks for the encouragement, actually I cannot connect Bluetooth as well to my mac 😢 its so sad moment for me. Pl support.
No sound no Bluetooth
Oh my goodness!!! I have literally been online with Apple Support for the better part of the day to restore my sound. They were completely stumped and finally just made an appointment for me to have my laptop serviced. I took one last ditch effort to find a youtube even though I knew I couldn't hear it. First of all, thank you for reminding me I could use cc... BRILLIANT! My answer came with plugging in my earphones, and BINGO my problem solved! You're amazing! And why Apple couldn't come up with that simple answer is beyond me. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I will cancel my servicing appointment and save some money. :)
Awww!! That’s amazing news!!! I’m so happy to know that you restored your sound back and saved yourself so much time and effort (and money). 🥳 Congratulations !!🎉🎈 Give yourself a pat in the back because YOU solved this on your own!
THANK YOU you for making this video. Seriously, saved me a lot of stress with the reminder on how to do a PRAM reset, and made my day a little easier.
Awwww you’re very welcome! I’m glad I can help in any way that I can. Congratulations on getting your sound back! Well done 🙌🏼
This video was wonderful. It restored my volume! It was such a long process but the final solution of adding the administrator etc. somehow helped the volume to finally work. Thank you so so much!

Thanks. My internal mic jus disappeared and I couldn't find it anywhere and NO ONE's videos helped. But you did! Thanks.
Hi my friend, I tried absolutely EVERYTHING, carefully you suggested. And one more addition: I formatted my hard drive and re installed everything. Even after that, I followed your steps and the sound didn't come back.
2 important facts:
1- Before I formatted the hard drive, I had Mavericks (original) since ever and when the problem happened 2 months ago. Right before I formatted, for a little short time the sound device reappeared! It was detected even the sound was not really happening. In that moment the system was very very slow... But I could see it was there. Once again, even it was there, it was not reproducing any audio track...
2- After everything formatted and having Mojave in a fresh empty hard drive, the sound device was not detected again AND during the process you suggested I could listen CLEARLY the little opening sound after restart ( with command option p r ). For me, it means the is sound card is working fine! because speakers were reproducing fine! Then I can't assume the sound board is damaged, right?
I have no idea what else to try besides open this machine and replace the sound card. However my feeling says it is a logical problem rather than a physical. What do you say? Can you help me?
Thanks a lot
RB
you try clean the logic board with isopropyl alcohol? I fix the same problem with wifi no device instaled, maybe some connection or sensor are rusted.

Hey, for all those who are in despair with the audio still not working despite trying everything in the tutorial. Please be patient and wait for a good month. Keep checking your mac is up to date. A month ago, I just gave up and was like welp guess I gotta always use my Bluetooth headphones but for some reason my laptop speakers worked, blaring music today (I'm pretty sure my laptop stopped working April 15th because I had exams back then :(( ). I was shooketh. I don't know why it suddenly worked so Im planning to go to the Apple store day after tomorrow to ask why and see if everything inside my laptop is alright. I will come back to this comment and re-edit it soon.
supriya mutharasan thank you for coming back to share your experience! I greatly appreciate it! Keep us updated =]
สันทำไม้ได้เลย
How long did you wait? Mine isnt working i have an exam and im desperate
Keep trying! Don’t give up! I know no one what’s to hear this but patience is a virtue!! I think it took me a few weeks but that’s what happened to me and somehow was able to find a way and made this video to help others in my position.
Try to plug your headphones back in.
Play a bit of sound through them (e.g., a song), then stop the sound.
Make sure you quit Preferences.
Launch Preferences and open the Sound pane. While the Sound pane is open and set to Headphones, pull out the headphone plug from the jack. It will reset itself to "Internal Speakers" and you are good to go.
It maybe that your audio port has a lot of dust or something stuck in there. Try using a toothpick and poke around in the headphone jack hole to see if something was stuck in there. That sometimes causes the computer to short-circuit and falsely signal to the OS. Remove any dust and try cleaning out the headphone jack hole, then restart the computer. If you have an air compressor to clean it that’s even better.
Let me know if this works =]

Hi Viper1220 . It works flawlessly. But , the moment I remove the earpiece and plug it back , it will stop working with earpiece. I had to switch the computer off and press combination of those keys( cmd + option + P + R ) and the earpiece will comeback working again. Please , can you advice?
I was using google chrome and RUclips glitched and I couldn’t hear any sound. I tried turning my volume up assuming I had accidentally muted it somehow, but it was already up. I started panicking and searched this video up on my phone and before watching I realized my sound was working on discord. Turns out I just had to exit out of RUclips and go back in it🤦♀️😂. Good video though, I’m glad you helped other people fix this problem!

If none of the steps work mentioned in the video this is one way I solved my problem:
if you are on a mac book air, try turning bluetooth off and shutdown, turning it on you should hear the apple startup sound.

I hear the apple start up sound. When I use a headset I hear everything but when I remove it I hear a sorta buzz noise. Turning off bluetooth and shutting it down doesn't make any difference. :(

Mine lost my sound after bringing it on the airplane. I had to because I have to do my homework but now my sound is gone. Everything is school's fault.
Great video, sadly it didn't work for me. After some digging around I managed to get the sound on my MBA back. I did the following:
- When all options in the video fail, try connecting a USB soundcard.
- If this works: disconnect it.
- Open the console-app: "console" in spotlight.
- On the left, select your device.
- In the search-box top-right type 'audio' [enter]
- You should get some results, but as audio isn't working, there shouldn't be many.
- Now plug in the USB-soundcard.
- Check for errors, marked by yellow dots, en look for faulty ktext-files. In my case, I got two errors pointing to epsonprojectoraudio.ktext
- If these ktext-files aren't imporant, like a device you don't use or an old device, get the location of the file from the error
- Open the location and delete the files, or move them to another location.
- Reboot
In my case this fixed the problem after days of crawling the web for a solution. So, if nothing helps, maybe this provides a solution.
sjurk81 wow!!! Well done! You’re amazing! Thank you for sharing your success. Hopefully this helps others who are having similar issues as well.
I don't have a USB sound card, any other luck? Thanks
@@anandkumarsinha2604 I've replace my Macbook Air two weeks ago.
For a month following the above post from 5 months ago I would disconnect / connect the cable as I wrote in that post. But that soon became a hassle: one great thing about apple laptops is keeping them on all the time without them slowing down. Performing a shutdown every few days is irritating.
So after a month I resorting to percussive maintenance: hitting the bottom of the laptop(not to hard) in the area where the said cable resides, a little off the center near the G-key while pressing the volume buttons. When this problem appears the volume buttons have a very slow response. After a few hits the response of the volume buttons turn back to normal and everything would work fine for a few days.
And yeah, since I ordered my new macbook pro (basic model) the sound never failed. I switched from pro to air because of the keyboard, with the new keyboards I switched back to the pro because the chassis of the air clearly had problems and I don't want to risk the same problem on the new model.
In my opinion this problem is caused by bending of the chassis when picking it up from one side, resting it on one side (like, on one leg) and a lot of travel with it (my laptops goes where I go). This causes the cable to work itself loose causing these problems.
But: that's my opinion and a guess based on my experience that opening up and refitting the cable solved all the problems.
@@anandkumarsinha2604 maybe bluetooth device? I am wondering...
Thankyou so much!!! I was worried that my laptop had finally reached the end of it's 3 long years.. but this worked!

Don’t Hate Tha Great One i ended up taking my macbook to the apple store, and they discovered that the logic board (the brain) was not working so they had to replace it, it’s $375. however, i paid $475 because i had it sent to the repair center, the repair center has a flat rate of $475 because they also replace any other additional parts if they need to be fixed at no extra cost, any part that’s been replaced comes with a 90 day warranty. i hope this is useful information for anyone that is going through the same problem :/

Congratulations on getting your sound to work!! Glad this helped 😂 close call!
My problem was that there was no input output devices listed and my volume tab had gone gray and showed a circle with a cross through it. Also the computer was running slow and the fan was on full blast. After trying all of your options and contacting apple support (which only told me to do the same things you recommended), I decided to open up the bottom and see if something was loose. I carefully disconnected and reconnected the logic board and also found one of the thin flat cables connected to the fan had come loose. Not sure which one worked, probably the latter but it's running fine again. Hope this helps save someone else hours of troubleshooting. Also thanks for your video.
Charlie May wonderful!! Yes, if the fans are blowing full speed it’s the computer over heating indeed! Well done figuring out the issue =] 🙌🏼
Charlie May same thing thats happening to me i dont know how to fix it
@@jacktheriot6748 If you have all the same symptoms as what I described above, something has probably come loose. If you are comfortable opening up your laptop I suggest taking a look to make sure one of the wires that connects the fan has not come loose. This I believe was my problem as when I opened it one of the wires was loose. While it was open I also disconnected and reconnected the logic board wire but I'm not sure this was necessary and also it is tricky and you really don't want to mess it up. If you are uncomfortable prodding around in there and you don't have an apple warranty, I'm sure a local tech shop can do it for you for pretty cheap. It took me about a half hour and that includes figuring out that wires were loose once I opened up the laptop. Hope this helps!
