I don’t nornally write comments, but I had to log in and do so just to say how grateful I was!
For nearly a year I couldn't play sound from my Mac on my TV through HDMI (the option to select the HDMI was not showing in the Sound menu). You, sir, just made my day - terminating the core audio (on my Mac showing as coreauthd) had worked a miracle!
    Thank you 🙏🏼

Felt a bit silly when I had really strange audio dropouts, thought it was bluetooth but realised that all audio outputs disappeared. As soon as you mentioned terminating coreaudiod through terminal (or activity monitor) I went "dohhh", realising that this was the obvious thing to try. Worked nicely, thanks! You helped me after I had a bit of a brainfart :)

I had no sound playing when only using my Mac's speakers, but using AirPods, I had no trouble at all. Going into Terminal and using "sudo killall coreaudiod" solved it in no time. I don't really understand the technicality but you definitely helped me out here. Last night the same happened and I had to restart my Mac to regain sound through the speakers. This is a much quicker way to solve it!

This would probably have been wonderful if it had had text on the screen. Unfortunately, because my speakers aren't working, I can't hear a word of it. A bit like when you call your IT department and say 'I can't get online' and they tell you to go to a web-page for instructions to fix it. Thank goodness for the comments, which told me to look out for the terminal command, and I was able to fix it from that.
