- How to prevent and defend the Torreando guard pass by BJJ black belt Thomas Lisboa. The Torreando is probably the most common guard pass in which your opponent controls your lower legs at the feet or knees with his hands and then steers your legs one way while passing to the other side. This pass was originally done with a tossing motion, but nowadays (and especially in the gi) most people typically retain control of the knees and use a steering wheel motion to push your legs out of the way while they either drop their shoulder onto your belly or come around to knee mount. In this video you'll learn 3 counters to this pass that will work both with and without the gi.
After all these years..I now know what them dam knee warm up drills are meant for.
U waisted all them years to find out crazy
Cool video, made it look easy. I can't wait to look like a fool trying to use this in the gym against people who know what they're doing, LOL. Sucks being a beginner sometimes, but I'll get there.
How’s that journey going? Blue belt here still trying to figure it out lol
@@quintanillaur, He probably quit, never replied.
@@johnthree1611 well I’m here lol. Purple now 😂
@@quintanillaur , Nice, congrats.
@@quintanillaur , I'm a no stripe white belt, started three months ago. Although I do beat up on some blue belts, and all the white belts. A brown belt told me, my first week after I started, that because I was big and strong, eventually no one would want to roll with me, well me and this one purple belt, a lot of people don't want to roll against us.
thank you!! i ve been watching your vids for about 6 years maybe more, always get practical and none bs techniques from you
Im a new blue belt and and defending the is where I suffer the most. Thank you you so much. I have some work to do.
Lovely details. A great instructional that's particularly useful for the more flexible amongst the BJJ community.
Nice! More material from him please!
Thank you very much for the video
This video is gold.
Nice video. I like his detail on focusing on entangling his legs first and then going for his grips to establish some type of open guard. I think I’ve been trying to do everything all at once but not having as much success. I’ll try some of the tips here and see if it works for me. Thanks!
Excellent action!!!
✌🏼💪🏼 Merci.....
Thanks from France !
Awesome thank you!
Good tips, I prefer to stay off my back and love it when someone who thinks they are more senior and fight off their back, gives me more options to control and dominate from above
thats pretty dangerous thinking theres some really good off the back fighters with good guard retention xD dont underestimate them :P
@@Crystals10000 yeh I was born living dangerously, I just like my top work, I'll also fake an out stretched arm or show the neck which lazy bottom players chase, then setup a counter move. Pays to lift heavy in the gym too and have plenty of gas to make them regret going to the ground. I also like being ready when they drop on their back and get them with a foot sweep as they go down, then look to the ref to score it ;)
@@jethrox827 makes sense lol somebody will be better on bottom then you on top though thats inevitable xD
@@Crystals10000 yes of course, there's always a better ground fighter, so when you encounter a better bottom fighter in a tournament im interested to know would you do?
@@jethrox827 typically when i am dealing with a fight off your back opponent if i fail to pass there guard i will scare them into making a move by feigning or going for a straight ankle lock from standing but i do that in every fight
Go Alliance!
Thanks Stephan
Are you in Vancouver?
1000 Thanks.
Lovely
When sitting like this, do we think that the chances of getting kicked in the head are too high to risk in a real situation? I wanna practice the best way but I don't want to train myself to get knocked out!
go professor ^_^
