@ThatFunnyBunny717 Hey there. You said, "imma". I'm here to inform you that the correct spelling is, "I'm going to". You also said, "ur'. I believe you should have said, "your". I hope this helps clear things up for you! Please never speak in morden slang again! It's incorrect! Thank you! 🤓
Hey Chippy! Loligeddon here from the Stars Above's moderation team. I'd like to share a big thank you for playing the mod! We're more than glad to see you enjoy it, from the dialogues and the weapons to the boss fights. We're more than looking forward to see you do a full playthrough of the mod if you decide to do so. There's still much more for you left to discover! Cheers for Asphodene gang!
Juat a heads up, the starfarers have extra lines of dialog and interactions with several of the biggest mods, and even has increased scaling with calamity, as well as the ability to have class damage from thorium for symphonic radiant and thrower and rogue damage with calamity if those mods are installed, it works better in a thorium playthrough then calamity imo, so you should totally do a thorium stars above double mod feature
@@AndromedasCartoon Thorium honestly winds up feeling completely overshadowed being in the same world as Calamity, as they are not scaled the same. And as Thorium is just a "Vanilla+" mod, it also drops off entirely after Moon Lord. Any weapon or armor set from Thorium feels so much weaker than the same tier of content from Calamity. I would definitely say it is better to keep them apart.
Also read the smaller box of text for stellar novas, it tells you the actual combat effects, like the first one can be recast 2 more times, so you didnt even see it at its flashiest
Fun fact, the weapons that you crafted, Carian Dark Moon and Aegis Driver are references from different games (Elden Ring and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 respectively). There are a lot more weapons in this mod plus different 'worlds' to navigate, so its going to be a fun time exploring everything.
I've played with both of the star farers, and yeah, this is an amazing mod. It has creative ideas, nice art and effects, and just makes terraria that much more fun. Another cool thing I saw when cross-playing it with Calamity, it also has post-Yharon and DOG weapons, so that was a nice touch to catch up with the mods that go further endgame.
ABSOLUTELY do a part 2! Saw this mod recently and while I didn't grab it because I was planning on trying Calamity Infernum mode, I was super impressed by what I'd seen and made a mental note. From the looks of it, you stumbled across it to, and now I get to live vicariously through you! Loving what I'm seeing though, hope to see more of this. The modding scene for Terraria has been looking fancier recently!
You absolutely should get this mod, as it pairs up well with Calamity. It even has dialogue and powers based on Calamity bosses. Though I will say this as you would most likely have to look it up to figure this out, but Aspho's equipment is based on video game references while Eri's is based on anime and TV shows.
I really just have to say: I'm actually just straight up amazed it took you this long to do a video on this mod lol. It really is one of the best "add-on" style mods around, and is entirely something I highly recommend just about anyone add to any modded playthrough they do, in the same vein as a lot of the other lighter content mods like Joost, Fargo's souls, etc. It's not really a big enough mod to really warrant a standalone playthrough, and it's weapons are WAY too strong for just base vanilla balance (I highly suggest at a minimum playing with calamity death mode active), but good lord this mod has QUALITY. I'd easily put stars above in my top 3 non-QoL/utility mods, quality-wise. Really, the only thing that sits solidly above it is Starlight River, lol. So, nearly every single weapon is basically a "crossover" item, originating from some form of fiction. This ranges from other games, to stuff like vtubers (there's a decent amount of hololive myth weapons, for example.), and I believe even a few anime/manga-inspired weapons, as well. These weapons are ABSURDLY accurate to their original portrayal. It's insane how much effort was put into each one. This does, however, tend to make a lot of them RIDICULOUSLY OVERPOWERED compared to base vanilla weapons, though stuff like calamity gear tends to hold up pretty well, which is why I'd suggest using your standard content/difficulty core modset, with stuff like calamity, fargo's, etc. alongside it, at a minimum. The mod also does an incredibly good job of integrating itself with a ton of popular mods, having custom dialogue and whatnot for tons of bosses, biomes, etc. Seriously, I can't recommend it more. It's 100% up there in quality with stuff like Calamity, Fargo's, Joost, etc. - all of the really good mods from Terraria's modding history. And it fits into literally every playthrough. The weapons allow you to change their damage types, or have enough variety across types to never be missing something fun to use, the mod works GREAT alongside just about every other notable mod (though I will note leveling mods tend to make certain weapons completely brokenly OP due to their designs not being intended for certain effects or stat values.), and the overall content quality is just absolutely "peak". Seriously, stars above has easily been one of the best Terraria mods around for quite a while now. It may not be a massive content mod like Calamity is, but it's still a mod with an absolutely stellar quality. ;)
It looks like a really cool mod, but I must disagree with it fitting into every playthrough. First of all, it is very obviously anime. Nothing wrong with that in theory but Terraria has quite a different vibe to me than Stars Above brings with it. Secondly, the character talking to you almost constantly makes the game feel a lot different. I think it makes me feel more like a Genshin Impact-style mod for Terraria. Again, none of these are bad things, but I think the mod changes the feel of the game too much to say it fits into every playthrough.
Please do a series on this! I've played a bit of it when it was just starting out, and these recent updates have been mind-blowing. Easily one of the most underrated mods right now.
This mod is amazing and it's also got compatibility with both Calamity and Thorium progression in its crafting, which adjusts recipes and stats to fit those two major content mods. I found it before it had reached 100k downloads and it's been a joy to see how it's been developed over time. Vagrant at one point was a stamina battle where you were placed in that medium square box and had to avoid attacks for a duration. I'm sure you noticed it in the background but touching the walls of those boxes teleports you to the opposite side, letting you use teleportation to dodge.
Chippy’s pronunciation of Aegis kills me (the Ae is an E sound). Also almost everything in the mod is a reference, especially the weapons; The Aegis driver is a reference to Xenoblade Chronicles 2; Carian Dark moon is elden ring; Not sure on others but there are a lot of references.
I really hope Chippy eventually does a full playthrough of this mod, is one of my favorites along mod of redemption ! Penthesilea, the Witch of Ink is my favorite boss and one of the most creative i've seem
This mod has been out for a long while now, I've absolutely loved how they went through with the updates and really enjoyed it! I am happy you got to partake in this enjoyment too, Chippy :)
Glad to see Chippy giving this mod attention. It wasn't as updated as it is in this video the last time I played but I used it as a companion mod to a heavily modded playthrough
I'm excited to see Chippy showcase the Stars Above mod! The Stellar Array alone has made this mod a staple in all of my playthroughs ever since I found it. Its a great way to add rpg-like permanent buffs to your character's progression.
This is one of my favorite and MUST haves for Terraria! Glad to see you finally giving it a shot, as others have said the mod maker has gone out of their way to provide some compatability with other big mods like Fargos, Calamity and Thorium, There are A LOT of weapons that get added, a lot (if not all of them) are references to weapons in other games, with some of them getting really complex. Would like to see a deeper dive if you do one just to get some more of your impressions.
Me and my friend have been having a BLAST playing this mod alongside Calamity, so I'm glad to see a review of it by ya! Personally, I find the bullet hell fights quite frustrating at times, but also quite rewarding when it comes to the powerful items and stellar array buffs you can get from them. I always go with Asphodene and my buddy goes with her sister, and they both have equally powerful weapons/abilities. The "Bury The Light" Celestial weapon and the "Garden of Avalon" Stellar Nova have to be some (and if not...) my favorite things in my modded playthroughs! Hope you have a good time with the mod, and hope to see a possible playthrough of it on your channel!
This is one of my favourite Terraria Mods. There are a ton of references to other games in the weapons, and I love all the little details that I can recognise from playing the mod. I almost always have it when I play modded Terraria.
A big thing of this mod, (unless they changed it) is that you can actually change all of the mod's weapon's damage types, so those 2 weapons you have could do melee, summon, ranged, or even rogue dmg (if you had calamity) I like this cause it means I can fully use all the weapons (with the minor downside of losing I think 10% of their native dmg) in the mod regardless of what class I'm playing also most if not all of the weapons are from other games. the greatsword is the moonlight sword from the souls games and the aegis driver is the aegis from xenoblade 2
This is one of my favorite mods, always goes well in an calamity run, as your companions discuss every boss. Only downside is the multiplayer problems that occur with this mod. (mainly subworld library) also when your stellar nova is fully charged, hit the activation button several times (up to 3) you can summon 3 giant swords that aim where your cursor is.
Glad this mods finally getting the recognition it deserves. Tried it on a whim with my friend and it’s one of our favorites because of just how cool and interesting everything is
I admire your decision to have background gameplay when you were reading the dialogue at the start. Without that, a lot of people would probably lose interest because that's the world we live in now haha
please make a complete series on this mod with less editing and more playing and chippy love you and your videos keep posting and keep up the great work
You have to make a series with this mod and Calamity! It's got a ton of compatibility and fun weapons. A lot of them are also recognisable from anime and games, so i do think you're gonna enjoy it (aswell as everyone watching)
Done a playthrough with this mod with both Thorium MP and solo Calamity, and it's great, honestly. Travelling to new worlds is really fun, the weapons all have unique gimmicks to them - most of them are references to games, and those mechanics work like the actual weapon in the game does. The pop-ups for the Starfarer dialogue mid-fight can be disabled for those that think it's a bit much, but I think it's quite fun to feel like someone's along for the ride on your journey! The mod also has cross-compatability with bigger mods like Thorium and Calamity - unique dialogue will be present, and the idea of switching a weapon's class extends to the modded classes too, so that you don't lose out on cool weapons because you're playing Thorium's Bard, for example. The bosses for this mod are super cool aswell - I can definitely see the FFXIV influence in this mod's boss design, with the cast bars and such. Overall highly recommend, either as a solo mod experience, or as an add-on for a playthrough of a larger content mod.
Funny enough, a lot if not all weapons in the mod are references to other games, the moonlit blade is from the darksouls series and the aegis is from xenoblade 2
seeing the darkmoon greatsword in the game made me smile :) for those wondering the darkmoon greatsword is the carian dark blade in this mod.. the game in question is Elden ring! in the item description it also says "Now cometh the age of the stars", which is a quote from one of the endings.
Wow! Seems i need to play this again... would love to see a part 2! Also this has a ton of references from final fantasy games (stares at Warrior of Light) to other games, and even other mods
10:17 I read the title of the weapon and was thinking "Hey is that an Elden Ring reference" and then kept reading on and saw Moonlit Greatblade and though "Okay maybe it's just a general SoulsBorne Moonlight Greatssword reference" and THEN read the last thing "Now cometh the age of stars" and was like "Well now it's OBVIOUSLY and Elden Ring reference"
i love this mod, im currently doing a playthrough and already got as far as chippy has, really fun mod i might add this mod to a calamity run in the future. this mod is now my 2nd favorite mod right next to calamity.
I am surprised it took you so long to play this mod. It's pretty old. Really good integration with a lot of other mods too. Just remember, you can move where the dialogue box is so it's not in the middle of your screen in the options.
Finally, chippy as played one of the BEST mods for terraria, the best part about this mod is that you can combine it with camality and get even MORE content
My brother introduced me to this mod over the past summer, I love the later boss designs and the endgame weapons. Key of the King’s Law, Key of the Sinner, The Morning Star, the Takonomicon, the Chronoclock, the Gloves of the Black Silence, the Twin Stars of Albiero, and the Eternal Star, all very nice weapons. My favorite thing from the mod was the Crystallized Absence accessory: you lose 300 max health and 20 defense, but it doubles your damage. I paired it with Calamity, so I had a higher base health plus Pact of the Blood God and Lifeforce potions, giving me around 800 health and double damage. They’ve added new accessories since I played, I haven’t checked them out yet. There seems to be two craftable and four with relatively low drop rates, besides the two relics. Edit: they seem to have added new planets too, I can’t wait to check them out later.
8:48 , one thing i've noticed, theres alot of ff14 references in it. music here being one, Thats Elpis' theme!!! I believe theres a Shadowbringers ref more late in the mod via a boss/sky being perma light.
I played this mod a while ago just after it released and wow this mod has progressed quite a bit, especially the calamity cross-play with calamity mod that I saw someone mention.
I played this mod a little over a year ago before the star map was added and had a great time. On Master difficulty, TSA's bosses were absolutely annihilating me... Picked Eri for the skill-based weapons and had a really tough time early on since my focus was split between watching the boss and using my weapons properly. There's a handful of references to weapons, bosses and abilities from other games in this mod, and I believe donors can request their own weapon be made and added in.
Chippy finally got around to Stars Above let's gooo for anyone who doesn't know, the two starfarers give you different weapon. Eridani gives more weapons referencing Anime and Vtubers while Asphodene gives weapons referencing other games
Pro-tip; read everything in this mod very carefully. Every weapon and ability seems to have a wall of text and can do like 2-10 different things. For example the first Stellar Nova can be fired TWICE not once and only locks on to a location after it stops spinning. I mean the mod might be anime AF and pretty much every Stellar Nova and weapon is ripped from some anime (game) but it does have some of the deepest mechanics I've seen in Terraria so that IMHO makes up for the lack of creativity sometimes.' Actually an insane about of AK references now that I think about it. . .
Hallo chippy this mod looks amazing i was feeling down then i saw you get crushed by a boulder and it cheered me up thx for that love the videos keep em comin id love to see you playthrough this mod it looks amazing
Can tell chippy doesn't play MMORPGs :D You might've noticed a bar fill up with attack names, all of the bosses in The Stars Above are like that, and the creator is evidently a big fan of FFXIV in particular.
I'd love to see a video covering the whole mod. It has a lot of cool stuff in it, but I always found it a little overwhelming with all the dialogues full of new foreign terms and layers of sub menus. A rundown would be much appreciated.
Fun fact: This mod has compatibility with Calamity and Thorium for the Aspect weapons, so you can change the damage type to the modded classes.
As I previously said, finally; a means to hunt down that POS Dreadon.
I'm sure demon shade armor goes absolutely ballistic with whatever combinations of minions and weapons you can think of
i think of this mod as a necessary calamity/thorium addon now, it's such a cool mod on it's own but it pairs so well with both of those mods
Does this includes Infernum
@@90enemies infernum doesn't add any classes bro
Interestingly, this mod also has significant cross-content for Calamity.

It always makes me happy to see you playing terraria, honestly. I just hope we get a full playthrough!
This is probably one of my favourite mods in all of terraria so glad to see you play it
You have to make a series with this mod and Calamity! It's got a ton of compatibility and fun weapons. A lot of them are also recognisable from anime and games, so i do think you're gonna enjoy it (aswell as everyone watching)
18:57 I heard that as "undress me if you want" 💀💀
💀
Please do more of this mod I love this mod. I had the pleasure to finish it on one of it's older versions and I loved it and now it's even better.
Funny enough, a lot if not all weapons in the mod are references to other games, the moonlit blade is from the darksouls series and the aegis is from xenoblade 2
Bossed in this mod hurt like hell, one in pre HM who does over 120 Damage and one in the late game just after Golem that does over 800 Damage.
seeing the darkmoon greatsword in the game made me smile :) for those wondering the darkmoon greatsword is the carian dark blade in this mod.. the game in question is Elden ring! in the item description it also says "Now cometh the age of the stars", which is a quote from one of the endings.
didn´t expect a xenoblade chronicle 2 reference with the aegis driver
Wow! Seems i need to play this again... would love to see a part 2!
Also this has a ton of references from final fantasy games (stares at Warrior of Light) to other games, and even other mods
Yes! Im so happy youre looking at my favorite mod for terraria!
Stars above has really improved over the years, its something I want to comeback to now I've seen this video
Would love to see this played more leisurely on chippyscouch!!
btw, if anyone's interested, this mod is almost entirely made of references to japanese games like final fantasy 14 and xenoblade as well as anime
i love this mod, im currently doing a playthrough and already got as far as chippy has, really fun mod i might add this mod to a calamity run in the future. this mod is now my 2nd favorite mod right next to calamity.
I need to see a full playthrough on this it looks amazing
I'd love to see you play more of this mod!
Terraria modding always blows my mind. People are out there just making whole new games using Terraria as the base.
Awesome mod. I played this when it came out ,and it makes me happy to see that its finally done.
"Eh-giss driver."
Aegis is pronounced "Ay-jis." Aegis Driver is a Xenoblade 2 reference.
he's british, leave him alone!
I am surprised it took you so long to play this mod. It's pretty old. Really good integration with a lot of other mods too.
Just remember, you can move where the dialogue box is so it's not in the middle of your screen in the options.
I remember supporting this mod before it got popular, im glad it's up now.
That's one of the coolest things I've seen in a while would love to see more
Chippy should 100% do a full playthrough with this mod.
Im a simple man
I see a waifu in Terraria, I click
Finally, chippy as played one of the BEST mods for terraria, the best part about this mod is that you can combine it with camality and get even MORE content
DEFINITELY want to see more of this mod!
Can't wait to see this mod played out. Always enjoy new Chippy content, thanks again!
8:48 , one thing i've noticed, theres alot of ff14 references in it. music here being one, Thats Elpis' theme!!!
I believe theres a Shadowbringers ref more late in the mod via a boss/sky being perma light.
This is basically just the Xenoblade mod and i love it
I played this mod a while ago just after it released and wow this mod has progressed quite a bit, especially the calamity cross-play with calamity mod that I saw someone mention.
Chippy finally got around to Stars Above let's gooo
for anyone who doesn't know, the two starfarers give you different weapon.
I mean the mod might be anime AF and pretty much every Stellar Nova and weapon is ripped from some anime (game) but it does have some of the deepest mechanics I've seen in Terraria so that IMHO makes up for the lack of creativity sometimes.'
Actually an insane about of AK references now that I think about it. . .
Hallo chippy this mod looks amazing i was feeling down then i saw you get crushed by a boulder and it cheered me up thx for that love the videos keep em comin id love to see you playthrough this mod it looks amazing
I love this mod. I suggested it recently. Don’t care how you found it just glad that you did and you’re sharing some experience with it.
Chippy has joined the dark side
Can tell chippy doesn't play MMORPGs :D
You might've noticed a bar fill up with attack names, all of the bosses in The Stars Above are like that, and the creator is evidently a big fan of FFXIV in particular.
I'd love to see a video covering the whole mod. It has a lot of cool stuff in it, but I always found it a little overwhelming with all the dialogues full of new foreign terms and layers of sub menus. A rundown would be much appreciated.
