i feel like thats probably the worst part of the mod, terraria is all about taking challenges on your own terms and everything about this mod just kinda shits all over everything terraria is, its very weird that this is a mod for terraria at all since its so at odds with the game and clearly has a ton of work behind it, it kinda seems like a massive waste that its not its own game.
@@linkhidalgogato it’s not a vanilla tweaks mod tho. Its supposed to feel brand new. You can still do the classic “build your own arena” thing with the other bosses and cheese wins but that isn’t challenging at all.

That Knight summon is so cool! That sword pogoing it does is something you can do in hollow knight, and actually is really useful way to avoid enemy attacks and get to places you otherwise couldn't.
The amount of detail they've put in this is astounding. After fighting the giant calamari, whenever you pass the stained glass you can also see your reflection. It's crazy. The background is absolutely gorgeous
One thing they really need to add imo is tree variations for their custom trees. It often really annoys me that they all have that same hole in the same spot. The mod overall is so beautiful tho

He also did point them out, right after he entered the world. The amount of minute detail and special effects and new mechanics is gonna absolutely revolutionize molded terraria. It's gonna be for 1.4 what calamity was for 1.3. Absolutely mind-blowing.

@@angycucumber4319 I’m sure you probably are doing this but just in case. Get the Elysian aegis or something like it. It will aloe you to ram enemies and not take damage so you can easily dodge the head. It was the only way I can see to beat infernum DoG
I feel like the terraria devs need to partner with the people making this mod. The bosses are so polished that it almost seems like a sequel to terraria. Very excited to see what the rest of the game will look like!
I went summoner in this mod as well and actually had a lot of fun. So many new summons and whips with unique effects that make summoner playable. The lifestealing and max life reducing one you get pre-wof is super powerful.
The story of red cloud though it may not be the most ambitious mod is definitely the most ambitious moddest experience been playing it again a year after with my brother who hasnt played it before gonna be a fun one
That's an awesome idea to ask Red to add. A default attack weapon slot. If you hold either nothing or you're for example holding a pickaxe. But you swing out of reach. Then the attack activates by default. Imagine running out of mana or ammo. Then this would be really useful in a stressful situation.
Given that u said that you are trying out more summoner here is a tip. Most pre hardmode minions use local i-frames meaning if u use 2 frogs on a test dummy u will have the same dps as if u were to use 1 frog so it is better to mix minions test it on deerclops with 2 attempts of using only vampire frogs and one using other minions mixed (like 1 frog, 1 imp, 1 hornet, 1 flinx)
This mod is absolutely incredible and actually just changes the entire game. My SINGLE complaint: It relies so heavily on visuals and graphics that my dinky-ahh computer can't run it at faster than 2 FPS.
This mod looks incredible, as it always does. Once they start adding hardmode stuff, I honestly think a Ceiros refight would be super cool. Its already such a movement-heavy fight, id love to see that turned up even higher in hardmode once the player has good access to wings and even flight mounts
Even more excited for this now that magic storage is ported to the same version, I wanted to check it out a few months back and they were only on separate versions and I can’t deal with regular chests anymore lmao
This genuinely looks almost like a Terraria sequel. The visuals are very flashy and almost not "Terraria-like" but they are not extremely out there that it feels completely detached from the original "feel" of the game, which is exactly what most good sequels are like. I really like the extra emphasis on bosses as well, considering that in the base they are the ones directly tied to each "stage" of the playthrough.

starlight river is so good that when you add the mod, it doesnt feel like playing modded terraria. it feels like you're playing terraria and a different game at the same time
kinda wish we had a more linear/streamlined terraria with more gameplay/bosses like this total freedom is fun, but the game giving us well and pre-thought out ways to interact with their worlds/enemies/bosses is cool
So I main summoner in Terraria. And man I LOVE both Sentry and Summons builds. :0 It's actually viable to run sentry in the early game =D And man SO many amazing summoner items in general! Also. Master Mode Starlight River, these bosses are NOT around the Eye xD Expert Mode? yeah, they're not bad. Defaulting to Master Mode was a BRUTAL experience in Starlight River o_o;;; Still doable, but ow xD
I think calamity is greater because its close to being as large as the game itself but i also think when starlight river is finished that one is gonna be truly the best
you know with the crazy mechanics they are adding to these early bosses and accessories, i am pretty sure they will have endgame items that allow you to time travel or some other crazy stuff. These devs are not afraid of, actually no, they are OBSESSED with challenging themselves.

This mod is so cool, and exhilarating, but most of all, it's beautiful. I don't play PC, I would just to play this mod. I find Terraria mods a bit too tacky but this is some next level mod. This mod may become the Aether of Terraria, the mod that inspires all other mods.
The biggest problem that I have, is it seems like the creators don't really know what they want to do with the mod. Most of their updates come every two months+, and they usually add one or two new things. I know making a full extended content mod is hard, but I still think about how it's been in the works for 4 years and still only have like 50 new weapons
I'm not a huge Terraria player so maybe I'm out of touch on this one, but honestly I feel like focusing on extra weapons and items and such feels like a waste. The game has plenty of those as it is. The highlight of this mod, by far, not even close, is the boss fights. So just focus on the boss fights. Slap a couple unique drops on the bosses to justify killing them and that's enough. No need for random new items on old bosses and craftables and stuff. That feels like someone procrastinating the hard stuff by adding the easy stuff up front.
Former developer here. I can't speak on the current team, but with school, work and other projects, on top of being a naturally slow mod to develop, this isn't a choice they have. From what I know/remember, they do have a pretty clear goal, it just takes a ton of time to get there.
@@AidanWR I'm sure they could update more, but knowing when to spoil content and release updates is very important. If their updates are really small, an announcement of "Still working!" isn't all that helpful imo. Plus, it's a volunteer project, so it's not consistent.
For me it's the pre-built boss arenas. I hate having to clear a space for Plantera. Sure, an arena they give you can be hard as they want it to be, but it's something I don't have to do, I just have to get gud.
I have a critique, being that since the bosses in this mod are so good it makes the terraria ones not fit in (don’t know how that happened), I think they should update the terraria bosses in the mods to compensate for that
I love how creative terraria mods are, but at this point shouldn’t these mod developers make them their own game entirely. Seriously, I feel like if there was some way to convert those really cool mods into their own games there’d be a lot of potential. Although this is mainly coming from the me that can’t play modded since I use console 😢
This is a very common thought - making a game is significantly more time intensive and difficult. The benefit of modding is to not have to make a full new game lol

I think it's way too op as an early summon (I will say that I do not like mods that power scale immediately), but I REALLY love the design.

AFAIK frogs still use the old immune frames though.

That Hot Spring you found is also a reference to Hollow Knight. There are many of them in the game and you can use them to heal :)

You should try Homeward Journey. Maybe a playthrough with both Starlight River AND Homeward Journey on chippy's couch?
they are rare but if you bring a gnome into the sunlight you get a garden gnome that when placed actually buffs your luck

Very neat mod. The visuals are nothing like Terraria, and that's good. Looks like a much more modern 2d RPG.
By running that mod on your PC you can replace your heating in winter.
