I like the attack prediction lines the enemies have. With how the movement in Terraria is not quite snappy, it helps having a more responsive combat system.
And it at least does try to look like smth new and replace the original game, instead of trying to shove it's own plot in place of vanilla game's (like certain mods... cough cough)
At this rate, I think Re-Logic needs to hire their modders to help in making Terraria 2. because this is epic! Just adding such dynamic layers onto terraria like this is impressive!
Actually. I meant a proper sequel game someday. Otherworld didn't quite develop out after all. And a 2.0.0 would not be very likely. but I think they'd eventually give a next series a try after some time and they decide it's a good time to succeed it.
I hope that all of the mods bosses build their own arenas like Ceiros, one of the biggest issues I had with vanilla terraria boss fights were that you almost always had to (in my opinion) damage your world a bit for an arena which is satisfactory in its usability.
So you mean you don't want to terraria in terraria. That's weird. Terraria's speciality over roguelikes / metroidvania 2d games is that and you wanna remove it for bosses?
I personally love needing to bend the world to my will in order to take on bosses. Adds to the world's charm when you get to the end of the game and you go past arenas that you simply don't need anymore.
I haven't seen this mod before, but it looks super cool! Can you tell me if it'll be entirely this dungeon metroidvania style, or will there be some regular terraria mining / crafting as well? I do love the dungeon and the boss arena, but I really hope there is some regular terraria, as it's a big part of the reason I like terraria.
this is like Terraria 2. Deep deep down I actually want Redidget to consider hiring and working with this whole mod team to make a whole new game. This was unreal.
If they made an entire Terraria 2 with this level of effort, they could name it Otherworld and people would eat it up (source: Me, I am the most objective source ever)
You could generally hear the excitement and just.. pure happiness in James's voice, good to know he absolutely adores this upcoming project as probably we all do! ;D
What an absolute treat man. Gosh damn the way the sprites look, such detail. I love when modders do this. This is literally a whole new futuristic world. Literally looks like something out of horizon zero down but formed into terraria
The stages of the boss remind me of a mix between Absolute Radiance in Hollow Knight, and the first boss from Starbound - And I am absolutely loving it!
The transition from inside to outside was so smooth. GOD was it smooth. The spritework is solid, the mechanics all look super intuitive and easy to understand, and everything in general just looks so good. I especially like how the boss has those flaming tendrils; whatever the method was to make those, I want to know it. It's so good to look at. I really, REALLY want this mod to become available to the public in a non-demo state. Time travel machine, where are you?! This tiny demo was significantly better than the entirety of Starbound. Comparing the two like they're even remotely close in quality is an insult to this mod.
Starbound is extremely fun when its modded. The original model doesnt have nearly the effort as terraria, however the concept hits hard. The content gap gets filled with mods, and its problems are solved. I love both starbound and terraria.
Pretty groundbreaking mod. Everything just looks so amazing. I hope this sets the new standard for terraria mods going forward. I can’t wait to see it in its full form!
I imagine that the mods that have been around for as long as this one has been in developement will all be stealing bits and pieces from this mod once they get the ability to see how it works.
Chippy, I have been watching you a long time and I Love terraria almost as much as you. Just wanted to say I appreciate all you do, along with all the amazing content and videos.
Mods normally just take already used mechanics and weapon attacks but re-design the weapon itself, not normally the actual attack. Love that modders are headed in this direction.
I really like this, because it ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IT BELONGS IN TERRARIA. The sprites are cleaner and more sharp but it still looks like Terraria. Everyone is always hyping Calamity, but... everything in that looks like it belongs in Starbound [Also the lore would fit better there too, especially the terrible re-writes for the corruption/crimson that try to overrule the actual game's lore]. This is... just superior, purely and truely superior in terms of playstyle and aesthetic. This is looking Thorium-tier or even better.
