'No Comparison' 3 Wheeled Inline Skates vs. 4 Wheeled Skates

- This Vlog contains some coarse language and is guaranteed to be less than inspiration. No 'full' comparison to the 3 wheeled skate was ever made, due to a moment which will be obvious when you see it.
Skates used for the.....not-a-comparison were the Flying Eagle Drift with speed frameswww.flyingeagle...
Camera used is a the GoPro4 Black mounted on a Bauer Vapour hockey stick shaft.
wait, you can walk???
Ahahaha can he tho I was just--
Nah skating slowly I bet, didn't see his feet so :D
@@killmiky 5:00 :)
I know right??!? Here I was thinking he was born with them things on his feet.
😂😂😂
A driver actually apologises for bad driving?? Only in Canada!
They were parked not driving.
I don't think they were parked... stationary, due to traffic congestion, but not parked.
That was a passenger from a car driving on a congested road. Parking lane is on the right side here.
Love Bill's vid's...straight up real and doesn't edit out the bails and fails...all part of city skating. Keep up the good work and skate everyday!
Hey Bill. I was looking at some of your past videos on power slide / stop to get a hint and I probably mised the part when you were on a garage saying"lock out for oil' or something like that and I learned the hard way...or the easy way on how to become a "balarina". Hit that oil pach on a power stop and made the BEST splits of my life...I thing my B..ls tuched the ground. I felt it....And for a 51 years old skater ....NOT NICE. LOL...Thank you for all the videos you make. keep it up man. You'r an inspiration to allot off ppl around the world. Spyros from Sunny Greece.
Sorry to hear you learned about oil the hard way; might be the most unique injury I've head of in a while. Oil was involved in my worst fall ever...I should mention it more! Thanks for the encouragement, and happy healing/rolling.
Spyros Mandalenakis :)
Well that was really messed up. I was looking forward to your 4 VS 3 wheel comparison. Instead you get totally taken out. Glad your OK.
Man it's really strange seeing you walking :)...love your videos though!!!!
Mate, you whacked that door good and proper, hope your not off too long. You have certainly inspired me to get back into it, so thank you for that, and the great vids.
I keep telling my friends to stay low when they are skating but they aren't
Dire Wolfy then they dieeeee!
Zackariahhh yep
I have nobody to skate with, so I keep reminding it to myself..
In fact it usually is Bill's videos "stay low" that sounds inside my head 😅
"Ahhh, life begins again! ... [DOOR-SMACK]" - That's life, alright!
oh man glad you're OK though! that spill sucked man. stay safe out there and thanks for trying that comparison!! skate safe brother
Ouch! Glad you were not hurt too badly, take care!
I know this is 6 years ago, but watching this Bill, all I am thinking is... PLEASE wear your protection kit, we cannot have amazing professionals like you get injured cz of someone else's mistake :(
I prefer the 3 wheel setup. I have the exact same setup as you except my skates are the falcon f6 instead of the drift. I switch to my 4 wheel setup if I'm sticking closer to home and focusing more on hitting gaps and stuff. Though the 3 wheels handles that just as good to be honest.
This is good to take a bit of a break occasionally. Even if that is a short break for a coffee. It sort of resets you. The longer you go without incident the more your confidence grows and it can turn to a bit of complacency. I ride a motor bike and a break for a drink is a good thing. You get on, start again and switch on. I loved bills attitude here. It’s true the car driver should have checked but it’s so easy to blame others entirely and not reflect on how you could maybe mitigate or avoid in the future through your approach. Not always doable but worth the self reflection.
You know, you don't realize how absolutely *impossible* what Bill does is until you actually put on a pair of skates. I mean even the way he strides just normally is so ridiculously hard to imitate lol I feel so angry cuz I wish I could skate like this guy but I feel like I'd never get even close even with practice :@ :S Why must you be so good Bill! Why!
EDIT: I also work on king, I hope one day I see you rollerblading by lol
I wont say its not hard, but it certainly easier to get back into/get good at skating if you did it in your childhood.
Those strides/quick starts are pretty hard to do compared to powerstops......It feels weird doing them since you have to make some movements similar to running.....It just feels weird to me.
***** When I do strides I like to imagine bouncing from foot to foot. Really helps keep the rhythm. Also helps to bust your ass a bit so you stop being scared. Cant even remember how many times ive fallen trying to do new or unfamiliar moves :p
Gameassassin1020 Yea I might need to try seeing it that way. I feel like every rock on the ground shakes my feet cuz I'm not confident on skates :( It's so incredible how easy some people like Bill make it seem :S
SorrowfulM // MapleStory Veteran He's not lying when he says keep lower. Lower you are the better. Ive lost control on both feet and had more than enough to recover simply by being low.
Wow Bill!!! Would have never thought that you wiped out too...you're still the best street skater.
Glad you didn't get hurt too bad. Live to be balling another day!
Battle scars brother. That door didn't give an inch ha. Glad no serious damage was done.
Only scarred on the inside....
Hang in there! Really looking forward to the next concept. You are gonna be AWESOME!
i couldn't see the comparison of 3 wheeled vs 4 wheeled, i don't know if buying 3 wheeled cruiser or 4 wheeled 80 mm to move around the city.
here in Sao Paulo you would have to apologize to the car driver, unhappily the cars rule the world. glad that you are fine. keep going.
I’ve skated Toronto for 20 years 4x80 in the 90s, downtown, east, west end… man, I love Toronto, I realized once travelling around, and I realize now after living for 14 years in another city… I really love Toronto
Glad to see you up and about. off out to street skate now.
This Man here has changed my life. :)
Lee Chang me too
cant wait for the new video. 😎 keep ballin.. lol
Inevitable if you're in that kind of density.
Try small wheels on triskates. I just did (made a video of it too) and it felt a lot like wearing hockey skates on ice. The downside is that they're terrible at maintaining speed.
2:08
Bill: “I can really get super low in these. I like that.”
Do you know why, Bill?
Because they have a hinged cuff.
When you have a rigid boot like a hockey skate or your Adapt skate it binds into the bottom of your shin preventing you from getting low. So that is why you either lace lower and wrap around so you don’t get lace bite or not have them as tight.
But then compromising your support by having your laces loose is not a good thing
Whether I drive or go on the passenger. I always, ALWAYS look on the rear mirror and look behind for people, cyclist, skater of what ever. But still I always am very careful when I do those cause morons never care and just open the door like they were living in the world alone. Gotta share the world and road.
bill, have you ever been to netherlands? We have seperate cycling lanes everywhere as everyone cycles here. I've been to france and others where there's no such thing and it's only a matter of time cyclists/skaters will demand dedicated cycling lanes. It does work!
I live in Toulouse and year after year it's better and better. But when I'm watching Bill I'm afraid of how everything is dangerous for bicycles and skaters.
Can you change the video title to '4-wheel city skate and hit by car'
There's people looking for videos on youtube for 3-wheel skate comparisons and this video is misleading with the No-Comparison title that gives the impression 3-wheel skates are the best choice hands down.
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT BRUCE LEE T-SHIRT
Glad you're okay there my friend. cant wait for the vid. but for now you heal up n get some much needed R&R amigo!
what's about wearing some protection? (and I think you get along amazingly well without - but I really wondered about that before this video)
I wear pads for more extreme stuff, but no padding I know of, would have protected the forearm, bicep and shoulder joint from a car door; maybe full hockey equipment would have helped a bit.... When Something like this happens, I re-evalute my decisions, not equipment.
Almost happened to me today on my way to work. Thankfully the guy phoned it in (opened the door a few inches first, which I noticed ) and then fully opened when I was "in optimal" range. Barely had the time to evade ..
Hello from Ukraine! You have a great videos and tutorials. And I want to ask, why don't you use a protection gear riding streets on this speed is extremely dangerous. So why?
Ouch! Glad you're ok. King Street is awful for oblivious drivers and passengers. Would still like to see the comparison.
Glad you're OK. Stay tough!
That's the Bruce Lee t-shirt that attracts troubles. He just needs something to crash it in dust. Stay away from brick houses.
Your later videos show you have way more patience with people about things like this.
My whole arm got crushed under my body. 2 small breaks. Now I’m skating in a sling with luminous wheels. My whole arm was numb luckily no nerve damage or surgery needed
Cool. Got my first pair of 3x100 coming this week. I though it would be way too big of a stretch if I jumped to 125’s immediately without any past experience ha.. btw if you in Canada (as an I) where do you get your skates? During this virus I can seem to find any good online stores that are not sold out, or are open. Cheers!
like a boss Bill .. u had me/us all worryed......seeing how u was on the ground for a minute...heal up take some time off...
Very helpful video. Thank you for sharing 👍
crash at 3:12
I love you and your videos but you cannot blame or "lecture" that driver for making you fall, you were on a one foot gap in the street instead of being on the sidewalk right next to you
Why would they be looking for you? It's totally not their fault
They were in a moving lane of traffic, not a parking spot. It's very clear. I paid a long term price for their negligence; they recovered faster form my gentle lecture.
@@BillStoppard I truly understand where you are coming from but if you expect everyone on the street to drive safely, then you are forgetting one of the ways you can die on inline skates
You would have been safer on the sidewalk!
@@michaellantigua748Sidewalk skating is such a bad idea in crowded places. Too many inline skaters are destroying our sport's reputation by risking pedestrian lives and skating around people like they're pylons. Deferring the risk to more vulnerable people (pedestrians) is a terrible answer, especially when car people can simply look before opening their doors when exiting, illegally or legally.
I'm glad you're okay and I'm glad they weren't dicks about it and apologized!
I always thought someone might open a door on me like that but I've never seen it happen. ouch
that freaking sucked! man glad to see no serious injuries. Got to watch out for those Arnold schwarzadoor's. lol
when do we see pinto pony's Toronto skate tours?
0:24 i was waiting for the go home with the 3 wheel skate but we didnt see that :(
Love your skating vids I feel your pain bad crash get back on your skates soon.
But which is better 🤔
Oh my god your accident! Please! Never skates close to cars & person! I always take margin, the danger will never come from you, but from all the rest.
They never see us, they don't ear us!
I'm now in SEBA FR1 325 2016 & it's soooo nice :D
Please take car of you & thx for the video ;)
What headphones do you use?
What's the legal recourse for skaters? If a car hits me off my bike I can sue them and the two times it's happened I've been compensated for my injuries etc.
I must have seen you pass a car a couple hundred times now and I worry every time and this time what I feared actually happened (well, almost 4 years ago). Getting doored is my biggest fear when skating.
do you have any power sliding tips because I tried it the other day and totally fucked my ankle.
Check my vids, there's a ton of power stop references/tutorials.
PintoPonyProductions what hardness of wheels would you suggest?
Norbert morha 85A is my sweet spot.
thanks, love your videos👌
I have never downvoted before but that title is super misleading. I really wanted to see a comparison, thats why I watched the video.
No, not all my titles are literally predictive of content. If you think this is clickbait check out Casey Neistat!
Respect...Hold your head fam...✌🏾
Friend, passing on the right is always a nono. No one would expect a bike there or a rollerblade unless there is a bike lane and even then passing on the right is always done at your ownv risk.
I grew up a cyclist asks is be pretty upset if you smashed my car like That.
Anyways I'm glad you are okay. Good it didn't hit your head
I took the “no comparison” in the title to mean that you felt there was no comparison which one was better, 3-wheels or 4, not that you weren't actually going to compare them. I was surprised to see that you would think it such a clear choice and not a nuanced, “I don't know you so I can't suggest what's best for you”.
It's an old video and you probably don't care but maybe, “getting pissed off and pedestrians then having a fucking door opened on me” would be more accurate and get more views.
I am sure that he is using inline with jammed bearings.
Beautiful Stopping!
I wish I could Stop like this
I have to have brakes on my Skates....lol
Maybe a 5 wheel vs 3 wheel would help make a stronger contrast.
your legs do strange things , it looks like they move only up and down instead of forward and backwards ... is that walking or i am missing something ?:)
Should of gone to Toronto island loads of space that way
Anyone know the name of the starting song by any chance?
The place I live in really doesn't have smooth roads so skating on streets is just a dream I have
Get big wheels
Amazing, If you come to Portland oregon can you teach me for free?
Ugh... that makes me angry to watch but glad you're well overall. I know what you mean by knowing it's bad when you see a bruise, I also almost never bruise except for the rare injury that puts me out for a few weeks.
I like how you walked the skate route
mate, have you ever considered reading novels for audiobooks. That voice is grime with a hint of silky smooth.
can you review the maxxum 100 I just bought them and would love to hear what you think :)
take a rest and recover!! good luck
I was just thinking ... how is it possible nothing happend to you by taking corners like that ruclips.net/video/iTzf-6q-wPk/видео.htmlm21s ... and then later it comes. It's nice to see you skate again.
can you compare your speed to a car like the fastest you could go
how long do you change your wheels, sir ?
are reviewing skates or the streets?
Do you miss your Bauer inline skates? Do the new skates provide you the stiffness and power to the ground what you felt when skating with hockey skates :) ?
The crash was nasty, but good to know that you are okay! Keep it easy, where are not mortal :/
All good, thanks; you're psychic, I'll be talking about he hockey skate soon.
Thank's. Il be waiting your comments. Can you tell your thoughts about adapt hyper skate zero compared to hockey skates weight/stiffness. I like my hockey skates more than my speed skates, I can go faster with speed skates, but...Yes with extra money you can go crazy with customizing speed skates.
Gut feelings are important
All your video's are very inspiring , you set a high standard for "newbies" like myself , I've learned so much !
iam on Seba F1 110mm ,please do more instruction vids !!!! Hoping your ok after the car incident, keep up the good work !
3:10 auww I hope you are fully recovered again.
It's been 3 years now and he's fully recovered thank you for your hope goodsir
Getting hit with the door was totally not their fault
Short shorts great idea
accept condolences, though it's late (
When are we gonna see him without sunglasses? 😡
how to combat a sweaty back when carrying backpack while skating other than wearing a dry fit T-shirt
BiPolarBear live in Canada lol I get the same problem in Australia
BiPolarBear wear a waist pack. what do you need that you have to carry a full backpack? I sweat no matter what. I cut up my shirts for airflow & wear head bands, but still sweat like a beast!! carry a towel & spare shirt.
drinking water will cool you down a lot and cut down on sweating
there are backpacks with an net (from deuter for example) - they help but you still sweat a little bit...
Spare t shirt :P
how often do you clean your bearings?
Hi Buddy, Following you alot and wondering if you could come to Chandigarh,India. Very beautiful city hills are very close and roads are good to, No police men problem,No body stops here. You must come and we both can have a great video together. Looking forward to hear from you.
Dude, wear some pads, I'm 59 and I even wear a helmet... Yes I look pretty sharp in all of that gear because safety is sexy.
So stop crying about your injuries....
And the car door opening, thing. Your Fault...You need to be hyper alert, that is one of the elements of street skating....Suck it up, and apologize to him...We have an an image to up hold out there..
The exchange between me a the driver went very positively.
Mention of injury informs skaters; there is a lesson to be learned from every accident or mistake. You must be a very tough guy if you think this is 'crying'.
Thanks F, even the passenger who doored me admitted it was entirely his fault. The keyboard judge blaming me is being a total 'dumbo'...great usage of the D word Mr Stein!!
do you ever use 2 wheel? if so do you like it?
Poor door...
0:34 Got some admirers
Dude that glare is wrong I notice sometimes you have no idea with you video frames
But that's fine love ya anyways
accident yes, however, the drivers insurance is for accidents
nice i like your advices ☺
the question is whether you are allowed to skate on the street ^^ anyways good Video
Hell yeah to more cycle lanes. Living in south Florida, they're basically non existent. Some sections of streets don't even have sidewalks, and the places that do are just crap.
The title says something like comparison 3 wheeled to 4 wheeled. I just saw you riding a 4 wheeled skate. Is that because of the accident? I usually ride only at night (or used to). It would drive me crazy to be dodging cars and people. I intend to buy new skates and I came across the Powerslide (mostly 3 wheeled skates). I was looking for some comparisons in between the two. But I won't buy an 80mm skate. It is too small for my taste and current standards I suppose. It almost looks like my old Bauer 76mm (adapted from the original 72mm) from the 90s. (edit) nevermind... Just learned that the 4 wheeled can reach a top speed much greater than the 3 wheeled. At night I have the streets to myself and I love to blast down a street at full speed. The 3 wheeled setup is not for me.
Well, if youre skating thru traffic...Sh*** gonna happen. : )
