Scott, never apologize for being so in-depth. Those who don't appreciate attention to detail probably aren't the ones going balls deep with washing/detailing their cars like some of us do. Love the vids and the tips you give. Keep it up, good sir!

No I already bought everything, then I learned about the clay. I didn't want to return the compound to amazon. The car looks really good though, the electric buffer was a big help too.

One of the few things I learnt in college, lol......
Chemistry class we made soap. The professor explained all the different types of pH soap formulas that we made.
For a close to pH neutral soap, it doesn’t do anything but make the water a bit more “wetter”. Basically, adds a higher level of lubricity. So for most cleaning issues, you have to move away from 7pH to able to strip contamination from clear coat, or you’re just washing with water.
This video is a great explanation of this!

    • @toml.8210
      @toml.8210 Год назад

People think pH 7 is "better" because it's what others recommend for use on your skin or hair!
      Paint isn't skin...

Haha. I just was in Walmart yesterday and found Superclean gallons in detailing and a guy in a grey garage type shop shirt asked if I was using it for detailing because he saw the spray bottles and I said that a you tube guy Scott from Dallas Paint Correction recommended it. He says that guy is good, he really knows his stuff. He used to do body work and paint at a high end dealership but now does paint correction and detailing on contract and on his own. Says you have solid 'Real World' info on every aspect of paint correction and detailing.
    You're famous.
Thanks for taking the time to put it out there.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I have learned from your videos. I have made my 07 Dodge Charger with Black Chrystal Pearl paint look absolutely brand new again and my wife’s 2012 Chrysler 200 with white paint look fantastic as well. Plus the interiors on both are now beautiful. Thanks for taking your time to do these videos. I watch every one that I can. I’ll have to say I have spent some money replacing the products that I had always used before with better products but it absolutely pays off in the long run. You know, I have been seeing all of these car wash videos that recommend all these buckets and 2 or 3 buckets with grit guards etc..... I have come to the conclusion that no matter what you do you will end up eventually with swirl marks. Even if you do touch-less washing then you towel dry? I think I will live with a clean truck and not worry too much about it. Washing a F250 extended cab truck is like washing 3 regular cars! I can't even reach all of the roof without using an extension pole! Life goes on, and nothing lasts forever!

You're the first reviewer I've seen that mentioned using distilled water. I use it often and can see a real difference. I don't dry my car with a towel. I wash it with a hose and soap (armor all premium wash and wax), wipe it with a wash mitt, spray off the soap then douse the whole car with distilled water while its wet. I let it drip dry since the soap lessens the chance of water spots according to armor all and distilled water doesn't leave spots because the hard minerals that leave spots aren't present. I also wait for an overcast day or wash my car shortly before sunset. I've noticed spots tend to appear on areas of a car where water can sit like the roof, trunk, hood and not so much on doors and other semi vertical surfaces.

    Hello Scott,
I live in the UK where in winter and our winters aren't quite siberian or Canadian winters, the lunatics at the highways agency put stupid amounts of salt/grit on our roads. So, answer to your question is...... I deeply care about protection. Protection against the brine we have to drive through in winter and spring until that salt finally gets washed from our roads. Swirls I can easily deal with. I have a da bottles of v32, 34,36 & 38, vss you get the gist.
Polishing, sealing & waxing is not a problem for me.
However, getting the grinder, welder and tin snips is to cut corrosion out of body panels.
Bottom line, it's easier to correct a few swirs in my black Merc paint than deal with corrosion.
I like to wax and protect.
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN Cure. Well in my world it is.
Thanx for the vidz they're gr8.
    Sending good fortune and health.
    Best regards
    Alec

The first video I have seen from you and it is very helpful. Now, I keep things simple. Most of my customers do not have a wax or protectant on the paint. Some of them would like me to apply a wax. So now seeing what you use to keep an existing wax etc. intact, what are you using on dirt that is tough to remove? Or in other words wax prep I call it. I'm the type that needs to know, if I have "this" car and they want "this" done, these are the steps I'm taking. Whether it's someone that wants a basic wash, or someone who wants me to buff, polish, and wax. I want to avoid lugging around 4-5 different soaps for EVERY possible option out there. I don't have time for that. SIMPLE is my goal. I'm sure this is not an easy answer and it comes down to what I like working with. But what about you? Thank you for your time, and any help or feedback. GREAT VIDEO NEW SUB

A fact is: An alkaline based soap is a superior cleaning solution. In the commericial pretreatment world, many businesses use alkaline cleaners because of this reason. Some use acidic cleaners because they don't want an aggressive cleaner on their materials being cleaned. So pH neutral soaps may be the best cleaner for the job as Scott explained.

So, Super Clean and Purple Power you would use if you want to totally clean and strip off all dirt, contaminants and waxes, polishes. And,you are planning to apply a polish, sealant and or wax. But,use a product like Meguiars gold class wash soap(ph balanced) that wont strip wax or polish but clean the paint surface and your just going to dry the car and maybe apply a quick detailer. I can see using the stripper soap like Super Clean or Purple Power ir even Dawn when cleaning after winter in spring or on a extremely dirty vehicle.that is going to be clayed, polished and sealed, waxed or ceramic coated.

Turtle Zip Wax wash is the best soap for a cannon that I've found at the big box stores. I mix it one part soap with two parts hot tap water, again in the cannon. My set up is the 20$ MATCC canon from Amazon and a 3000psi 2.8gpm Briggs&Stratton gas power washer. The Zip Wax says it doesn't strip wax. Supposedly waxes as you wash(BS). I'm assuming it's ph neutral but might have to get some strips to check. The water here is very hard, if others have softer water or a water softener they might be able to use less soap. Foaming, allowing to dwell and power washing takes more off then power washing alone in my experience. Of course touching the car gets it the cleanest. You present an intersting point, choose scratches or choose absence of wax, no third direction.

i buy meguiars deep crystal for around $4.50 per half gallon and use lots of it when i wash my car. half the price of the gold class and i like the results better.

bird718. I use it also. Prolly the best “basic” car wash soap out there.
Nothing for that price cleans a vehicle as well as it does.

Have you tried the Simple Green Wash & Wax soaps? I recently decided to try it out on my brand new car and it works amazing. I love it. Meguiars Gold Class used to be my go to soap as well but I recently been looking into more eco friendly cleaners and I found this one for my car and I love it so far.

Hi, just found your channel. I find thjs soap works best with hand washing. Can you recommend any which works with foam cannon and you dont have to touch it to remove dirt and grime? Also if soap is stronger, does it damage paint?

Thank you. A few questions: What do you think about Simple Green to clean? Any suggestions on purchasing a hydro-foam cannon? Does one just add that on to a hose? Thank you.

Hey Scott, I like your idea of using the purple power vehicle and boat wash for doing a full clean of the vehicle removing traffic film, etc... however i noticed that it does not foam up that well when using the foam cannon. Ever try mixing some Gold class shampoo with the purple power to give it a better foaming action with the foam cannon? I would assume the mixture would still have the traffic film removing properties? Too cold now here in PA to try it on my own...

Bowden's Own Nanolicious may be a good choice for coated vehicles.

I use Turtle wax Extreme car wash. $ 4.50 at Wal-Mart. Haven't tried Gold class or Super clean yet. Use Dollar Tree Carnuba wax and car wash. For a dollar you can't beat it. Shawn

Love the vids. You talk about using distilled water with the soap, but what about rinsing it off with that hard water. I know you dont like to touch the cars so do we use some kind of blow dryer? 'ie' leaf blower.

A lot of dirt and light dust can be washed off with water alone and that is sometimes just what people need but this is more road grime and it doesn't work for that. With time rain will rinse off vehicles and it can remove a lot of the water soluble dirt (please remember water is technically a solvent it has some cleaning properties) but as the rain rinses the car off you are left with a layer of film which is not water soluble and needs to be remove for the most part by contact wash to what degree heavily depends on the type of grime and the season. A lot of the US treats roads in winter so you should use a specialty cleaner meant to for these types of substances and they can save you time but it's situations like this where car soap can help make your job easier.

In deciding between integrity of the clear coat and less scratches I think I'm inclined to say I would like to ensure a minimum level of gloss on the car. I think this would mean that, after a good polishing job, I'd like to minimize damage to the clear coat. Thoughts?

Are the commenters referring to Castrol Super Clean in the purple container? Everything I read says not to use on painted surfaces. I used some years ago to clean my aluminum wheels. It ruined the finish on the wheels. It left a white residue that I could not remove. I would never consider washing a car with that product.

It’s only necessary to polish a car once a year max. My car is almost 2 yrs old and I’m now considering polishing it before waxing it. Regular washing saves clay bar/polish hassle in the long run......if washed correctly

Do you have any thoughts on the Wash Chems Pro 50/100 soaps on Amazon? It's meant to be used in conjunction with a pressure washer/foam cannon and uses harsher chemicals to clean the cars without touching at all. They also claim that they're able to accomplish this without removing any ceramic coatings either. Sounds like a dream come true in terms of convenience and scratch prevention if the products truly deliver on all of their promises.

Scott, what do you think of Meguiar’s Soft Wash Gel? It’s reddish hot-pink in colour, pH balanced, and is cheaper than their other car shampoos. I think it has excellent lubricity, works well with a lambs wool mitt, and is appropriate for waxed or ceramic-coated paint where more intense cleaning, conditioning, and brightening isn’t necessary due to the paint being sealed and very glossy. 🚙

Listen I've used Ajax dish soap for years the water sheets off when rinsing it leaves no spots and it dries wonderfully. It's cheap effective gets the car clean and it's no big fuss. Simple and easy just the way I like it. You don't need all this and that the other complicated crap. No scratches on clearcoat on Hondas
