I received my pressure washer ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP over the weekend and decided to wait for the sun to come out before firing it up. Was needed to clean the deck. Our last pressure washer broke a couple of seasons ago, and I just hadn't replaced it yet. This one had great comments, so here we are. It was easy to assemble, and the trigger wand is comfortable and easy to hold for long periods of time. The pressure washer worked great and made quick work of the "TN North side algae" that inevitably grows every year. I also washed all of the deck furniture while I was at it... it all looks great! So far I am happy with this purchase. I plan to climb the ladder to wash siding over the next couple of days, will update if I have anything else to add after that!
2:08 As a soapmaker, I would like to verify that the people who are claiming this, is correct! Distilled water is what is most recommend. However, deionized water or reverse osmosis water, etc... are good alternatives. This is because soap doesn't bind well to the minerals in water. These minerals will react with the soap in a negative way, and reduce the cleaning ability of the soap. The harder your water (soft water vs hard water), the lower results that the soap will get when mixed with the tap water. In your test that you mention wanting to perform (idk if you have done the test yet or not), but unless you have hard water then you might not see a very big difference in the foaming ability. Soft water vs hard water, makes a big difference in the cleaning (and foaming) ability of a soap.
Thank you for taking the time on this. I was just starting to look for my next soap. Started with the Costco Meguiers soap and wax that you reviewed a while ago.... But I want to live that thick foam life! Again, Thank you!
I appreciate your tests and comparisons, but in order to accurately evaluate and compare products, the manufacturer’s directions should be followed. I am not an Armor All fan, but even though the cost per wash would be higher, their recommended ratio of product to water was not used in the test. Using about 20 cents per ounce of each different detergent modifies the intended formulas. Some products are more concentrated than others. Better cost analysis could probably be accomplished with equal amounts of label instructed, mixed solutions. Thanks for performing your comparisons.
Agreed but I would rather know how concentrated something is because to me a $10 for a 32oz bottle less concentrated is more expensive than a $40 gal that's more concentrated
@@skillz101989 the concentrations within each product doesn't change...at least not with the products I've used. It shouldn't change either because that would be unfair to the consumer.
@@skillz101989 Agreed 100% on Dawn...and not just Dawn. There's other very cheap soaps you can get that work great...but back to this concentration thing...I can't fathom that a smaller bottle has higher concentration of soap vs a bigger bottle. That reeks of consumer affairs fraud if the pricing doesn't match up to me. I can understand them saying put more in the bottle cap, etc because the bottle might be smaller but the mix should be the same across all sizes.
In order to make this a better comparison, you should fill the water level prior to adding the soap. Also, how well something foams does not indicate how well it will clean or lubricate the surface. I will generally only use a soap that is either ph neutral or a ceramic type of wash depending on what I am washing. Additionally, as you continue testing the same panel it can change dwell times of the soap. DI water has a huge impact on foam too. It is nice to see how well some of the soaps foam though.
i actually disagree with your observation. Using a "scientific method" in the test - everything was done following the same methodology, including noting Ph level (neutral acidic or alkaline), the use of de-ionized water and noting any deviation in the test from manufactures directions. Thickness and foam "hang time" and sheeting was noted. And each panel test was done the same. So, IMHO, the comparison did answer the question of which best soap for foam canon.
@@petecallamaras6422 Still doesn't tell you how well it cleans or lubricates the the panel. Also the first soap on a dry panel will have an increased dwell time over one tested on a wet panel. The longer the test goes on, the cleaner and more lubricated the panel will become.
The whole point of a pre-wash is to remove as much dirt as possible, so surely it would be better to test the cleaning power of each product rather than how much it foams? I love a product that foams as much as everyone else but I see from testing on other channels that some runny foams actually have better cleaning power.
true but there's really no way to thoroughly and evenly test that at all. Hell if you wanted maximum cleaning power, everyone would be using dawn haha. People also use the foam as lubricant as they scrub car with washmit which is why the more foam the better.
Check out a channel called Alfie Detailing. He's a detailer out of Indonesia who tests the cleaning power of a lot of snow foams. For an amateur production, he has a lot of positives with his testing process: 1) The roads in Indonesian must be ROUGH, cause his white car is always filthy, which happens to be a perfect test bed for cleaning power 2) He pre-rinses with a pressure washer. This seems to be the most basic step, but so many people test cleaners of all sorts without doing a pre-rinse. If you don't do a pre-rinse, you have no idea if it's the pressure washer or the chemical doing the actual work when you pressure wash the chemical off 3) I think the bluntness of other cultures is hilarious and get a kick out of his videos lol To save you time - regular car soaps in a foam cannon don't do anything in terms of pre-cleaning, and a pre-rinse with a pressure washer is going to remove more dirt than a regular car soap & foam cannon ever will. You need a dedicated pre-rinse product, otherwise you're wasting your money. The only dedicated pre-rinse products that seem to work right now are Bilt Hamber Touchless and Auto Foam, Autobrite Magifoam, and CarPro Lift. Griots Garage has a product called Foaming Surface Prep that I haven't seen tested yet, but it looks like it might be promising
Using either DI or distilled water in the cannon to mix with the soap yields better results because the chemicals in the soap can more readily bind and “react” with the pure water. If there are minerals, the soap doesn’t mix and react with the water as well as intended/designed.
Feel a little bias towards the Mr. Pink, Meguiars looked just as good if not better, and I see the soap I purchased is not going to be very good in comparison to Mr Pink and Meguiars.. Thanks, like the vid.
As a RUclips creator myself, I am very impressed with your videos. I am going to use your link to purchase once I see the next video to decide the best foam product!.
I’ve never even used a foam cannon, but there was an actual audible difference in the pressure washer when you used the Meguiars with the 1.25 orifice compared to the 1.1 I definitely wouldn’t have imagined there would’ve been.
Two different foam cannons. He went from armor all to mjjc. The mjjc is a very sought after foam cannon by detailer and extremely high end compared to the cheap foam cannons out there.
Something to think about is since you filled up the bottle with soap first and then water, there is already a lot of foam in the bottle which could affect the amount of foam being produced. Maybe try adding water first, then the soap. Also, I would like to see cold water vs. warm water in the foam cannon! Thanks for all your awesome reviews, I ended up purchasing the 1600psi Ryobi unit because of your reviews!
As far as foaming goes, the Mr. Pink looked great. Having used it several times on my car however, the cleaning ability is strongly lacking. I'll be sticking with P&S Pearl as my shampoo and continue looking for a solid, foaming pre wash
Although I plan to get some Mr. Pink or one of the other top performers, I had previously purchased Turtle Wax Max Power based on an RV detailing video from Pan. I decided to try it in the pressure washer system I just assembled (Karcher 1800 psi / 1.2 gpm, Uberflex hose, MJJC V3.0 / 1.1mm orifice), just because I had it already. They recommend mixing it 50:50 with water for foam cannons, so that's what I did, and it produces really nice foam. It's not as good as the best soaps tested here, but it's not far off, so I'll stick with it until I use it up.
Awesome compare. Much appreciated. Just bought some of your links also much appreciated for the schooling and time/money saving of figuring this out by trial and error. Great channel..subbed !
Meguiar’s and Chemical Guys are just way superior against any other DIY brand hands down. I only use those two for different things. One compensates the other and vice versa.
Interesting video...thanks for posting. DI water does help quite a bit with enabling suds....hard water kills suds. I've had a CR Spotless system but thought it was more of a pain than it was worth. For my foam canon I use distilled, but just tap water for the bucket wash. My go-to soap for both steps is CG Honeydew, but would like to try the Mr. Pink at some point. To prolong the performance of your canon, be sure to fill it with clean water and run it for at least 30 seconds when you're done. You're right that the stainless mesh can gunk up otherwise.
Di water makes a huge difference, I was using plain tap water for the longest then got a di tank similar to yours and immediately noticed that the foam was thicker and not as watery. But I would like to see your comparison to see if my experience is the same for you.
I would have to add that DI water used in at least the final rinse is key to a great detail job. The problem is with most portable units it’s very expensive to purchase and maintain. I have yet to find a supplier in my area that has tanks and does tank swaps.
@@davidbaca7853 if you are in the sgv area near LA there is a spot I could recommend you, let me know if you are from this area. And you are correct definitely needed for the final rinse but I was just referring to the foam aspect.
That's was my Red Raptor on that Meguiar's Ultimate Snow Foam ;) Couple things worth mentioning - USF was developed with use on protected vehicles in mind (ie having wax, sealant or a coating on the vehicle) and unlike any other snow foam, it actually clings BETTER to a hydrophobic surface than a neglected one (AND it is formulated to NOT strip wax/sealants or clog coatings). It is an incredibly trick formula with two types of foam to maximize not just foam thickness, but CLING time (which is paramount for snow foam to actually do work). So on oxidized/neglected/unprotected paint like that test vehicle it actually has a bit of a disadvantage as that is not an intended application. Lastly, regarding the dilution ratios, unlike other brands that disingenuously suggest using just 1-2 ounces of soap in the foam cannon (which would equate to between a 8:1 and 16:1 when used in either 16oz or 32oz snow foamers), and would yield absolute GARBAGE results, Meguiar's recommends a realistic and functional 5:1. 5:1 is actually VERY good, as most brands requires a 3:1 ratio for truly thick foam (including chemical guys). So in reality, to get comparable maximum thickness foam, you will find USF will outperform other soaps that mislead and suggest you only need 1-2 ounces of soap per cannon fill. -MK
It foams better with DI or distilled water because the minerals do not cause the soap to break down and when coming into contact. Warm water also works better. Filling cannon with soap and distilled water is great if you don’t have DI water
I’ve been watching your reviews on electric power washers that have been very interesting. I’m looking for the best electric power washer to use in a commercial kitchen as well as a soap cleaning agent. Surfaces are painted concrete block walls, stainless steel, concrete floors and a washable fiberboard on other walls. I would also be using this around my house and yard. I know you are a car detailer but any advice you can share would be appreciated.
TYVM for helpful videos. FYI -1oz =30ml or 30cc. A shot glass/jigger for cocktails are cheap and easily found. Careful as many are made for 2oz or 60ml. That should be perfect for you and these tests. lids? Idk… since Idk the diameter of the lids, hard to say, but they look smaller than 1oz each, even guessing at 1/2oz (4 caps)…? Grab a cheap imported cocktail jigger🙂pls.
Great Video Josh! Last year I bought a Ryobi pressure washer, a foam cannon and the 1.1mm orifice all based on your reviews and videos. I finally have a car worth spending the time and energy to really take care of the finish, and your channel along with a couple other detailers I follow have been a tremendous help for what works best and a ton of help. I have since also done paint correction and other detailing work on two family member vehicles, it is a fun hobby! Anyway, this comparison was great, but just by luck the first (and only) snow foam mix I bought was the Chemical Guys Honeydew; so I will definitely be interested in the next one. Keep up the great work and good luck to you and your business.
Yes it had. This "test" is flawed in so many ways frankly it is embarrasing. Doesnt even try to search wich soap drinse dirt of best....wich is the purpose of soap... This guy does no good for the ones that are serious in the detailing business.
I didnt think of that… it’s possible but I’ve been able to get thick foam even on ceramic coated cars so if it does affect anything it would be minimal. Thanks for that insight though!
Already looking forward to tomorrow's results. I'm currently using gold class and have great results. Looking forward to seeing how it stacks up in this test. But! Already considering moving to Mr. PINK LOL
This video could have been edited much better but it’s a great video with fantastic info. Just wish we could have got to each test more back to back, Test: 1: rate /10 Rinse Test: 2: rate /10 Etc etc
Thanks for the video - the missing link here, that wasn't tested is: Which one of these leaves the *LEAST* spots after thoroughly rinsing? I used the ArmorAll brand shown and it was HORRIBLE for leaving a mass of huge spots, even though I rinsed the crap out of the vehicle.... it left some sort of residue and resulting 'haze-like film' over the painted surface, big spots everywhere. Also, maybe mention how all these soaps work with typical well water in a suburban setting. Do you use 'softened' water in your shop? What do you do to combat spotting, after the vehicle dries.... I couldn't even blow the water off in time with my EGO 650 blower before the vehicle dried off..... I am sure the outside sun and heat is a factor... although the day I did it, it was sunny and about 72 degrees. Thanks for your insights.... I am looking for the best foam soap, but that also has the BEST water spot resistance.
You turn the top nozzle all the way to the positive right side, which is more water less foam, if you turn it more to the left negative side, it's less water more foam.
I love you channel but wanted to point out that the concentrations of each brand may be different. The could be using more water in the soap, lol. I think following the instructions on each bottle would be most accurate while recording the amount for each bottle full to gauge the price per wash. Thanks for all you do!
I'd also like to see a showdown of say the polymer type soaps. Like Optimum Wash and also quite interested to see your thoughts on some of the Poorboy's products given their wash is pretty sudsy and then they make an supposedly EVEN FOAMIER one for foam guns!
Do griots garage brilliant finish! $12-13 for a 64 ounce bottle. I use that with a little bit of no rinse and they smell amazing, foam great, and provide great lubricity
Awesome video josh , much respect for all your hard work that you have it into your videos . I am new to snow foam and i have cleaned both of my cars only once with it so far . I noticed afterwards that the chrome around the windows on both cars are now stained . Is there a way to get rid of that and get the chrome like new again ? Please help
I would guess that de-ionized water would foam better similar to the way that soft water produces better shampoo suds in the shower than hard water (like from wells), but that's just a guess on my part. One question, I wonder if the results from the soaps later in the lineup are in any way altered (such as persistence of foam) by any potential residue left from the early soaps (such as that wash-n-wax product), or just the vehicle getting cleaner?
I’m a detailer and been doing the work for about 5 years and I really enjoy your videos and info but if u could do a little less talking and just hop on in to testing that would be awesome! Haha keep up the good work!
please excuse my complete ignorance with this topic but I have to ask... what is the big deal about the thickness of the foam? surely all that matters is how it cleans and leaves the car when finished? My local hand car wash uses a foaming product via a pressure lance system.... it runs off quite quickly - but leaves a super clean finish once rinsed and dried.
Really appreciate your videos: analysis of products and pressure washers. Would like to see you do a general "What to look for in a pressure washer." video. So not just the what but also the why: more educational then review I guess.
Love your reviews! I'm going to go pick up the Ryobi electric pressure washer today. Have you used the Ryobi foam blaster? Is it worth picking up? Also looking to rid the use of a brush/mit and all the scrubbing lol. Would you say the Mr. Pink does a good job without any scrubbing? Thank you!
Wow, amazing, I just ordered my first presure washer for car washing, gonna try this foam cannon stuff. Stupid quedstion, after the car is foamed, do I just rinse it or should I use some microfiber mitt or sponge?
both actually. If you use a high ph soap you can foam, let it dwell, then rinse just to remove the heavier dirt build up. But you will still need to do a contact wash. So usually i prerinse the car, foam it, then do a bucket wash using the sioap in the bucket and the foam to add lubrication and break down dirt, then i rinse it all away!
Would be great to see CarPro Reset, Xtreme Solutions Extreme Suds, Leno’s Vehicle Wash, GSF, and maybe a super concentrated newbie like Detail Firm Exterior Lather! All great products! Love your 4Runner also!
Great video once again. I wonder how Mr. Pink compares to the soaps I use- Maxi Suds. I see both as just "regular" soaps. Nothing fancy like added gloss enhancers. I get great deals on these soaps during the holidays/Prime Day
Hey Josh, great videos but I have a request for you. I know you've mentioned that you don't like using soaps with wax in them or the new soaps called ceramic but they work for some of us guys, could you make a video on which soap with wax performs the best?
I get you want foam from your FOAM CANNON, however the more important part is how the soap cleans. Also a slightly runny foam is good as a foam cannon is meant to run dirt off your vehicle for your prewash. So a very thick foam is not usually the best option. You should really talk about these very important points.
You want the foam not to be runny because it allows the soap to actually work on the paint and carry the grime with it. it should last at least 5 minutes on the paint.
Can you just use well water? Probably silly question, but I’ve heard doing mobile detailing that using certain water can cause spots on the car when you wash it.
Trying to find a good car shop for matte/satin paint ( my whole car is not Matte, just my hood, roof, and trunk) so I guess a car soap that is both good for Matte / satin paint and also regular paint.
So I get the foam thickness and lather, which one does the actual cleaning remove dirt and contaminates , so you can do little to no contact washing? I like to foam but more cleaning abliltes Im here In Las Vegas, Nv where there is real dirt, dust, road grime dirt

@@davidbaca7853 if you are in the sgv area near LA there is a spot I could recommend you, let me know if you are from this area. And you are correct definitely needed for the final rinse but I was just referring to the foam aspect.
Thanks for the response but I’m actually in the Houston Texas area.
@@davidbaca7853 just call around (if you haven't already) and I'm sure you'll have one that does .

What's your alternative to bead maker??
It foams better with DI or distilled water because the minerals do not cause the soap to break down and when coming into contact. Warm water also works better. Filling cannon with soap and distilled water is great if you don’t have DI water
DI and distilled water for sure make a difference cuz I use the exact same setup with the same soaps and can't get those results 😂
It might be your foam cannons orifice
I’ve been watching your reviews on electric power washers that have been very interesting. I’m looking for the best electric power washer to use in a commercial kitchen as well as a soap cleaning agent. Surfaces are painted concrete block walls, stainless steel, concrete floors and a washable fiberboard on other walls. I would also be using this around my house and yard. I know you are a car detailer but any advice you can share would be appreciated.
I been using chemical guys for awhile. But also find Adam’s polishes makes a good one.
What kind of hose do you use for your Ryobi?
Just a thought. Could it be that the Walmart soap with wax had an effect on surface tension on those that followed?
PINK LOL
Cleanest car on the block! 👍👍😆
Hi mate great content 👍..you said you dont use bead maker because you have a better one and its cheaper..wich is that one please..thank you
Thanks for the vids
I bought a Lexus f sport 350 and I want to treat her well
So I’m going to buy this stuff
This video could have been edited much better but it’s a great video with fantastic info.
Just wish we could have got to each test more back to back,
Test: 1: rate /10
Rinse
Test: 2: rate /10
Etc etc
Great video I have that pressure washer I just ordered that foam Cannon
Nice Camaro 👍
Great video! I’m about to do my Fall prep on my truck which includes a good hand wash and waxing.
You should do a review on Bead Maker vs. the alternative brand you spoke about.
Following! Yeah curious what product you're using other than beadmaker thanks!
@@markyrose79 probably Tec 582
@@danielcastorena3057 Could be but he said it's cheaper than Bead Maker and TEC582 is about $6.00 bucks more a gallon, at least on Amazon?
@@Ryan_H22 maybe, but you use more beadmaker to Tec582 and beadmaker doesn't last much. So maybe it is more cost effective.
first i used beadmaker..then switch to tec582,
tec582 feels slicker than breadmaker, and attracts less dirt/dust compare to beadmaker.
I wonder how baby shampoo would work ? I’m going to try it !
I used Mr pink all last year in my pressure washer foam canon. It leaves a ton of spots behind unless you was it off and hand wipe it down.
Pound for pound mr. Pink. For price and foam it can’t be beat. I tried many soap but none that’s gives you the value it gives you.
Hot water is the difference maker and a water softener in your system even if household. You will notice a big difference in suds
I'd also like to see a showdown of say the polymer type soaps. Like Optimum Wash and also quite interested to see your thoughts on some of the Poorboy's products given their wash is pretty sudsy and then they make an supposedly EVEN FOAMIER one for foam guns!
Try Armorall Ceramic, it foams and leaves an SI02 coating that I can't believe.
What about actual pollutant breakdown? I'd really like to see which soap cleans the best on its own.
Do griots garage brilliant finish! $12-13 for a 64 ounce bottle. I use that with a little bit of no rinse and they smell amazing, foam great, and provide great lubricity
Alway good content, and I am only 10 seconds into the video....very down to earth
If your using deionized water or filtered water just understand that most people just use tap water so that may Effect the results
Please help
So now we know which ones foam best, but which one cleans better as far as cutting oils and dirt
To compare the cost you should do cost per 1000ml mix at the recommended dose by the manufacturer.
Could you try Meguiars hyper wash for the next test.
Bowden's own mega snow job
3D wash and wax best of the best! 10 buck for a gallon!!!
Could you do a review of one or two bucket wash. Thanks
Would be great to see CarPro Reset, Xtreme Solutions Extreme Suds, Leno’s Vehicle Wash, GSF, and maybe a super concentrated newbie like Detail Firm Exterior Lather! All great products! Love your 4Runner also!
Thank you, sir. Great video.
Meguiar's D11001 Hyper-Wash with a 1.1 orifice left my car nice and clean, plenty of foam. $29 a gal
I had mr pink before and switched to there maxi suds 2 better glossy finish with same thick foam.
I prefer the maguires over mr pink as I have found mr pink can strip wax even though it’s not supposed to.
Can you test out Turtle Wax 53411 Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wash and Wax also. Thanks
Great video once again. I wonder how Mr. Pink compares to the soaps I use- Maxi Suds. I see both as just "regular" soaps. Nothing fancy like added gloss enhancers. I get great deals on these soaps during the holidays/Prime Day
Recently tried maxi suds, it's just as good if not better than Mr. Pink and cheaper too!
Hey Josh, great videos but I have a request for you. I know you've mentioned that you don't like using soaps with wax in them or the new soaps called ceramic but they work for some of us guys, could you make a video on which soap with wax performs the best?
If he were to test, make sure to add the Koch-Chemie NanoMagic Shampoo to the mix.
Do you have the top ten foam cannons you like and pricing? I just started watching you and have learned a tremendous amount
More great info! Are there some soaps that are more "GREEN" than others that clean and you can recommend? Our storm sewers go to the Cheasapeake Bay.
Are any of these better for the environment over others?
Nobody cares about the environment. People be dropping their anti freeze down the drains
Chemical guys ,
Maxi suds II is my favorite
And it's cheap too!👍
Excited to see how the Honeydew does, i have some on its way from amazon!
DRAMATIC ZOOM IN!!! -inserts 70s kungfu music- silly question though can some “snow foams” be used in those foam guns? (Garden hose style)
So I get the foam thickness and lather, which one does the actual cleaning remove dirt and contaminates , so you can do little to no contact washing? I like to foam but more cleaning abliltes Im here In Las Vegas, Nv where there is real dirt, dust, road grime dirt
Looks nice, which cleans the best tho?
Please try Adams mega foam and or Ultra Foam. Also maybe Chemical Guys other foam like the honey dew snow foam
Is it safe to use a high pressure gas pressure washer for washing cars or is the rhino type electric pressure washer the better choice?
Which car schampoo would you prefer for ceramic coated surface and waxes surfaces? Would you recommend one schampoo for me?
Please add Duragloss 902 to the testing. Thanks!
