Our current dog, Sophie, is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Black Labrador. Believe me when I say that Sophie only sheds twice each year: from January to June, and from July to December. 😂
OMG...who created this list...and has that person EVER seen a Golden Retriever? Everyone knows that Golden Retrievers shed like crazy. I owned one for 14 years and we ALWAYS had hairballs on the floor, and hair on our furniture and clothes.
Yeap. Anyone can make a video, whether they know anything about the subject or not. People act like mainstream media is the problem. The main source of misinformation these days is NON-mainstream media. Okay, that's my rant.
The Golden Retriever is my very favorite dog. Yes, he is one of the very sweetest and easy going dogs. But they SHED like crazy. Why is this dog even mentioned in this video?
when i first saw this, i thought you (the video) must be joking. i consider Goldies are simply the best family dogs ever. But they shed like crazy, same can be said for lab retrievers. I have and love both for many years but not shedding is simply not true. Looking for dogs that do not shed, look for ones that have "hair" and not fur, such as schnauzers, terriers, Portugese water dogs. One final thing, putting grey hound on the list without pointing out these are sight hounds is simply irresponsible.
Sweetie putting a golden retriever on a list of non shedding or smelly dog breeds is a real punch in the gut, you don't need to beat the allergic horse like that
Yes, we’ve owned a couple. Most dogs shown DO shed and if not properly cared for, Imho, dogs will smell. Only our current --poo mix doggies don’t shed.
Whoever decided to put a Saint Bernard on a list for low shed, no smell is right out of their mind! Wonderful dogs, sweet and loyal but they shed mountains and smell very doggy.
I completely understand what you're saying! Saint Bernards are known for their shedding and doggy smell. It's important for potential owners to be aware of these factors before bringing one into their home.
We don’t regret rescuing our Sophie, BUT she is the last Golden we will ever adopt. Five minutes after vacuuming the house, it needs another go-round! You get the picture.
I have a Cavalier girl and I love her so much. But I do have to say that cavaliers shed A LOT considering how tiny they are.. and my girl would have to be showered every other week otherwise she'll start to smell
I love them too but, yes they shed AND they have a lot of health issues. About half of them have mitral heart valve issues and the worst is the syringomyelia. Bless them they are so super sweet. I hope one day breeders will find a way to breed them far more healthly.
The tibetan spaniel in your video (I believe you actually meant tibetan terrier) is an english cocker spaniel and most of your 10 dogs are shedders. You might want to take another shot at your list.
Yep they are English cocker spaniels, there is a Tibetan spaniel breed (not to be confused with Tibetan terrier) but smaller than a cocker with a curled tale and shorter snouts. Personally I would take a Cocker over the Tibetans.
I don't know about the other breeds, but the basset hound most definitely sheds. He is also odorous. He smells like a dog, unless wet, then like a wet dog. As far as disposition, they are a relatively calm dog, interspersed with bouts of mania. They are a BIG dog, just short. So they can knock down little kids. They are better with kids 8 yrs and up.
Is this video a joke? We all make mistskes but gee whiz! I want to thank all the commentors who have spoken up to set things right. Choosing the "right dog for you" is very important and we rely on breeders and "experts".
I'm deaf, I rely on hearing aids, lip reading and my guide dog, I have a beautiful 2-year-old German Shepherd Lab mix, he's a beautiful dark blonde color with the face of the German Shepherd, his name is Malichi, and he goes everywhere with me. I'm 65 and I've had a few guide dogs over the years, maybe 3, but Malichi is by far the best, he's so soft and he loves being outside with me, whether I'm outside reading under the gazebo, tossing his favorite ball to him or just going for a short walk, he's always very calm, he's very loyal and protective, my grandparents had got me a German Shepherd when I was a little girl, his name was Ruff and when Ruff passed away they got me a chocolate Lab named Emily, so I was used to being around both breeds but the combination of the two is perfect, the best of both worlds.
Although golden retrievers, IMO, are the best dog breed. Period. They are definitely calm, gentle and friendly dogs...but they SHED LIKE CRAZY AND DO SOMETIMES SMELL!
I’m on my second greyhound since 2009 It’s true they are calm, affectionate, and have no body odor. However, both of mine shed, one worse than the other because she had a thick undercoat. Even though my current greyhound doesn’t have the undercoat, he sheds. Wouldn’t trade either of them for anything ❤️
@@gabrielcarrasco9078 Yes, they have a tendency to become a stink-o-potamus, BUT, only if you don’t bathe them on a regular basis. Or at least wipe their faces every couple of days. Their fuzzy faces tend to get matted with food.
I’m puzzled, had a golden retriever crossed with red setter. He didn’t shed. He was a beautiful golden red coat. Had the body of a retriever and the feathering of the setter. Great dog ❤
BUT, did he fart like a bar room full of beer drinkers? Our Sophie looks so beautiful and is so loving, but smells so bad! I recall when she was about 6 months old and was resting and suddenly let out a loud toot. She turned around and looked at her butt so surprised as if someone had pulled a trick on her! Since then, though, it has become second nature to her, unfortunately.
Most of the dogs you have on the list are epic shedders. Bulldogs smell, both body odor and passing gas. Other than that, I think you picked some good calm dogs but a lot is dependent on training.
Thank you for your feedback! Shedding can definitely be a challenge with some breeds, but it's important to find the right fit for your lifestyle. Training is definitely a key factor in a dog's behavior, so it's great that you mentioned it!
Dogs that don't shed and the first one on the list is Golden Retriever. LOL Somebody didn't do their research. ;) FYI...If the dog is cuddly soft, it's a shedder. That soft fur sheds heavily at least twice a year and moderately the rest of the year. But they feel like puppies their whole life so...worth it. ;)
Goldens are awesome. They also shed like crazy. Bassets are awesome. They smell. Bullies are great for the right people but not perfect for everyone and need responsible owners who respect their tendency to be other dog aggressive. Spaniels are sweet, but not low ebergy. Your number one pick is NOT a great family pet. They are gorgeous, powerful and aggressive towards strangers and other animals. None of these breeds meet your claims of non-shedding.
If you’re trying to make a list of the dogs that shed the most and smell the most, this video would make sense. Are you serious? A basset hound? I literally could make a new dog every week with how much it sheds. Don’t get me wrong, I love my girl, but shedding and smelling are the top two things she does.
@revagreen2303 You were very fortunate to have had him for 10 years. I know a few that made it even longer but they are the exception not the rule. Sadly many do not make it to their senior / veteran year. They may have improved on this but I think many giant breeds (and people) do not live long lives. Their hearts work very hard to get blood to all those distant places of their bodies and just wear out. /
ha ha! Golden Retriever dont shed! Wow that is a good one! My golden shed so much I have to vacuum 2 times every day. And he smel! But yes, he is the best god! Love !
We had a wonderful St Bernard however, get one only if you love to vaccuum and clean up slobber on floors, clothes and even walls! Lots of rolling furballs on uncarpeted floors and much cleaning out vaccum cleaner bags. It was worth the work for us but just be educated before adopting one.
one learns more in the comments than the video itself and the comments tend to be 100 % accurate,,, the video says Goldens dont shed,,, nothing could be further from the truth,,, its too bad information can be posted and it can be very inaccurate
In what alternate reality does a Golden not shed? The answer.. None. In no reality does a Golden not shed enough hair to make another entire Golden weekly.
I do agree these are all calm dogs, but the title is very misleading. All of the dogs on the list shed, and most shed a lot. If you're watching this video because you or someone in your family have pet dander allergies and not familiar with which dogs are low/no shedding, please go look for a different video instead. This video is poorly made and a very bad one to go by.
Most dogs on this list shed, some quite a bit! And don't smell? And you have Bulldogs and Bassets on this list? Do the people who put this list together actually know what dogs are?!? And is it me, or does the "Tibetan Spaniel" look suspiciously like a Cocker Spaniel which actually doesn't shed?
How do you not have Maltese on this list they are so chill and they don’t shed ? I have a Maltipoo Maltese poodle mix no shedding and so good with people!
Thanks for such an awesome list! I am going to consider the Irish wolfhound or Saint Bernard or king Charles spaniel. I do have a cat, so I would like a dog who is compatible to another pet.
Do your research first. Go to akc website look up and read their description then go to link to breed websites and read theirs next. Then if you do pick a breed talk to a few different breeders first even if you do not buy from them. Most will be very honest. Never go from an opinion piece online or other.
You've obviously never owned a Golden Retriever. They shed like crazy (I still find hair, a year after I lost her to cancer). And if you've never smelled one, it would only because they were freshly bathed.
You have been misled. Not a single photo of the gorgeous Tibetan in this video! You are looking at various spaniels but the Tibetan is mis-named. Not a spaniel at all! The Tibetan is often on the Most Under-rated Breeds list. It's coat is silky and natural and does tend to mat. A very clean, sweet, and calm little dog.
I think they made a mistake putting the golden retriever here without saying on tittle that *MAY* not shed or smell much as golden retrievers sheds like crazy lol they're calm and very amazing breed that's for sure but not shed or smell much.... got me confused as it comes with a slightly misleading video tittle lol
