  • John Corvino explains why First Amendment Defense Acts, or FADAs, betray not only the spirit of the First Amendment but also the United States’ rich legacy of religious liberty.
Dr. John Corvino is a writer, speaker, and philosophy professor at Wayne State University in Detroit. He has written several books for Oxford University Press, including, most recently, Debating Religious Liberty and Discrimination (with counterpoint by Ryan T. Anderson and Sherif Girgis).

Something I wish more of my fellow Christians understood is that the separation of church and state is vital for the church as well. When in all of our history has giving churches political might ever resulted in a closer relationship to God for the people? It's hard to be a humble servant when the suggestions of Jesus can be enforced with handcuffs. Just my two cents.

Recently I found your old videos after watching one of your debates, and I want to thank you. I have recently come out of the closet and was initially feeling the typical nervous/insecure combination, and your videos really helped me understand why opposing POV and honestly helped me. Please continue uploading.

Your argument sounds nice. Literally, nice and sweet. However, it fails to address actually law and rights. You just talk about your own perception of the spirit of the law. Your entire argument appeals to sentimentality. It's just a dressed up version of the Beatles song Imagine.
Also I would ask, you say it's actually the liberal view of marriage they needs protection in MS. if this is about religious freedom what religion is the Liberal view of marriage derived from?

Pray tell, when did biological sex become a religious belief?

When #TheReligiousWhite declared God creates male or female locked in at birth, the better to be cruelly transphobic.
Radicalized evangelicals are trying to shove square pegs of binary sex/gender fixed for life into a world of round holes that simply does not exist as the religious intolerant insist.
