honestly, erica wheeler may want off of the team. her role has really been reduced this year. but she has been a consummate professional. And she has been willing to accept her role. she deserves a ton of credit.
What she has done for C22 whispering is not to be underestimated. She's been really important in calming down C22's most intense emotions on and off the court is great.
And giving CC a towel to cover her mouth when she started going off on Deshields, cause she knows all cameras are on CC and people can read lips.

Mick was down on very Mitchell, Dontas, Wheeler, and Sides, and has done a 180 on all of them. I recall he was all about Katie Lou when Wallace was starting. Just gotta give it time for the team to play well. Lexie Hull went from a 28% 3 pt shooter to the best in the WNBA.

The only issue in the Fever dressing room is Nalyssa Smith. Cudos to Wheeler for keeping it real. It's obvious to any one that this core gets along very well together and that team chemistry has come a long way. All the more reason to get Smith out of the room.
At some point it's gonna be Temi starting now that Temi got her shot back. Same as Dantas got her shot back. Few can come back from injury as if nothing happened. But Smith can be a great player. Just her 3rd year. She is young, and has many moments of brilliance.

I appreciated the info on ROTY not being a guard in a long time. It gave me a reasonable explanation for Clarke disagree-ers mid-year. Bias by position is understandable and mitigates pointing to the "other bias" things can get blamed on.

Erica Wheeler is doing it right. I have respect for the role she took on. She’s knows how important it is to keeping the wolves out.
Let smith go unprotected in the expansion draft and bring in Satu. Keep Mitchell and wheeler. That squad would be a top three team. I would cut Wallace and try to get Taylor back although I think the Mercury will keep her. With the new deal..if Indiana doesn’t make the right moves this offseason to win a title..expect CC to leave after next season.
@@Biggdoom344 CT has been cut by 3 WNBA teams now, that's 1/4 of the league's coaches saying they all agree she's not very good. Please read this again and again till you get it. CT is NOT GOOD. Even KW is much, much better than CT.

There is no place that exists in the real world where CT isn't a scrub, and by scrub I mean every team in the WNBA would take KW over CT and it's not even close.

@@Biggdoom344 The Mercury signed CT to a 7 day contract, cut her, signed someone else, signed someone else, decided to go back and sign CT again, then resigned her for 7 more days, and finally a contract through the end of the season. I will note that the Mercury were only allowed to sign her to 3 7-day contracts by league rules so were forced to sign her through the end of the season.
I will also note the position CT is playing for the Mercury is backup point guard. That's not a natural position for her she's never been considered a great passer or great distributor and never will be. Most coaches want something more out of their point guards than a player who is a poor shooter, poor passer, and who was considered a good defender in college but that didn't translate to the WNBA and her defensive stats/play at the pro level are/is unimpressive.
So I doubt the Mercury will not be able to find someone better to play backup point guard next season and you can renew your mental gymnastics of whatever you believe CT could be but isn't in reality.
I heard the Fever coaches's evaluation on CT was that CT has a lot of defensive bad habits that she got away with in college but would have to unlearn in the pros and best case that would take a long time. I watched her closely go head-to-head with CC and CC absolutely burned CT, like CT was just a cone out there. Do you have any expertise to be able to evaluate CT's defensive abilities yourself or when you praise her for them are you entirely basing that on her college rep? Because college doesn't always translate to pro.
We got a good long look at both players last night:
CW 6-8 75%, 3-4 (3pt) 75%, 2-2 (FT) 100%, 4 boards, 1 assist, 1 foul, 1 TO, 25 mins 17 points.
CT 2-7 29%, 0-3 (3pt) 0%, 3-5 (FT) 60%, 1 board, 5 assists, 1 foul, 1 steal, 5 TO, 22 mins, 7 points.
If you were a GM, which player would you sign? Defensively in about the same minutes CT gets 1 extra steal but CW gets 3 extra boards. CT 5 assists/5 turnovers is scary, I definitely don't think she has a future as a point guard. CW 1 assist/1 turnover is same ratio but easier to digest. And then CW can actually put up impressive shooting numbers where CT is terrible from the field, terrible from the 3, even a terrible FT shooter. There's no future in the WNBA for a player who puts up stat lines like the one from CT above. Meanwhile, there will always be a spot for a player who puts up stat lines like the one from CW above.
@@NADRIPmusic correct. I’m a Mercury fan and they just extended Cunningham. The rumor is that they are looking to keep Taylor. DT is going to retire and they are most likely letting BG walk. Two players they have their eyes on are Mitchell and Satu. We will see.

Wheeler has been playing well lately. She's showing her leadership now. About the salaries... With the monster attendance, the Fever should have money in the bank. They should be able to pay any player that the salary restrictions of the WNBA allow, for anyone with an expiring contract.
She was at draft night and seemed genuinely happy that the fever drafted CC.

I ended up really liking her. Just because I noticed in the locker room, as they are coming out, even on the bench she is always clapping and encouraging the players. When CC would be coming to the bench and she would be beside her clapping and encouraging her or any of her team. She is upbeat and I think sometimes you need someone like her on the team
I think Erica has also figured out a way to maximize her effectiveness on the floor as this new team develops. Playing well at both the 2 and backup PG, and a pretty decent defender as well. But as we've gotten to know her, we've grown to love her.

CC received over 700k all star votes this year AR received under 400k. CC clearly is the bigger influence in women’s basketball, no matter how confused you or sports illustrated are, the numbers don’t lie. CC is the more popular women’s basketball player.

Yes, .. they (Fever members) all did a good job, handling the reporter's questions. Reporters have a tough task .. there's only so many good questions to ask most of the time, and they have to strain at asking relevant questions, that haven't already been asked. In other words .. too many press conferences?
The Fever seem to be in agreement .. put the other players of the team first, not oneself. I think this is one of the things that makes them audience favorites.

Really deep words to say the outside world was trying to get into this building and we did not let it... the hate and harrassment that Caitlin has gone through from social media and having to have a body guard and security woul break most people. The attention and scrutiny that all the players and staff on Indiana Fever have had to go through this season could have torn this team apart. In current internet culture there's a lot of people out there who aren't capable of thinking for themselves so they are always desperately seeking someone like Mick to tell them who to blame and who to like. And Mick is not anyone who knows anything about basketball, just someone who watches it and made a youtube channel. But he saw he could do the carnival barker act and get a lot of people following him. And in this video he even admits it's all an act. He's knows his audience is so gullible that he can say anything, contradict himself however he wants, call someone a huge problem and a few weeks later call that same person the solution, and his audience will just go along like sheep, continuing to beg him to tell them who they should blame and who they should like. It's not even Micks' fault that people are so pathetic they need someone like him to tell them what to think. But, yea, what Erica Wheeler basically said is Mick is full of cr*p and all the people who listen to him are full of cr*p and the Fever have done well because they've kept that cr*p on the outside. But one would only realize that if one were to actually think for one's self. Wheeler is an amazing team member, and she's been playing fairly well lately. It would have been easy for her to be bitter with CC taking over her role. She has to be paid less going forward, but her love for this team is infectious!
I think the Fever should either get Wheeler to come back 1 more year on a minimum contract or offer her an assistant coaching position.
The problem with the W players being online a lot is many of them taking it personal when they get trolled, when the truth is that it means the W has arrived.
