    Just watched your “ Good, Bad and Ugly”, video. For what it is worth, you and Phil Anderson are my two favourite channels. You are both originals, talented and are entertaining. Phil is in his 70’s and I guess you to be 30ish and both of you have an excellent grip on life. Keep being you. I see your subscriber tally growing steadily…that’s a good thing. By the way, you have a lovely family. Beautiful work all around. Thanks for the entertainment and for providing me with many new turning ideas.

    Great looking bowl. Brass inlay goes well with the spalting and wood colour! Thanks for sharing with us. Cheers from the west coast of Canada.

    Don't dig the worm holes? Make them a feature of the bowl and embrace them into the turning. You may surprise yourself how much you like it.

    Very nice piece with a special story as a memorial. Glad you showed how you made your inlay material. I went to a local locksmith/key shop and got a bunch of shavings from their grinder. They were not as fine as needed so put in a coffee grinder to make them very fine and much easier to work with. Note, I only use this grinder for grinding spices, tried shells and now this and always clean it with grinding rice through it. Keep up the great work buddy.

    • @dukaheritage9445
      @dukaheritage9445  Год назад

      Thank you so much my friend. I had a friend recommend the key shavings as well but I knew the filings would be to large. Thank you for the tip of using a dedicated grinder to this kind of stuff I might just have to try that out 😊

    This piece definitely tells 2 stories. One is how sick the tree was and why it had to bei felled. The other is about your family and your grandparents. But you learned a new technique out of this which is also very good. Looking forward to seeing you doing more Inlays...

    Try making a bowl with only push cuts. It changes everything. Your left hand just adds weight to the gouge to keep it from vibrating.

    • @dukaheritage9445
      @dukaheritage9445  Год назад

      Thank you my friend, I do always push for a finish but some pieces are easier to hog out or shape in with a pull. Green wood always push cuts for sure some dry pieces give me hell with a push 😆

  • @raystevens687
    @raystevens687 Год назад

    Fill the crack with CA-glue you probably will have to do this serval times but it will keep you from getting hurt. Or cut the shape of the bowl and put it into a container and mix up some resin and put it into your presuer pot and let it set up overnight.

    Mr. Duka, if a piece of wood were perfectly beautiful, but had no flaws to present you with difficult challenges, would you choose it for firewood? 🤔

      Thank you, the new machine is a Rikon 70-3040. She’s a big full size beast with a small footprint. The bed slides to expand spindle capacity and makes for a huge swing potential. I love it ✌️

      I love the new machine, I feel it’s a perfect pairing between small footprint with full size lathe power and girth. Price wasn’t bad, i times the purchase with a woodcraft sale and got it delivered to the store to cut out shipping cost 👍
